Police foil Sri Ram Sene's ‘Ingali Chalo' rally; Muthalik detained
The activists formed a human chain at Rani Channamma circle. They took out a rally to the Deputy Commissioner's office raising slogans against the State government and the police. They demanded that the accused who had assaulted five of their activists be brought to book.
SRS founder Pramod Mutalik addressed the protestors. Later, the activists submitted a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Roshan. Police took Mr. Mutalik and other activists into custody after they insisted on walking to Ingali village, despite denial of permission by the police.
'Five of our youth were tied to a coconut tree and beaten up mercilessly by the residents in Ingali. I want to ask the government if this is Karnataka or Pakistan or Afghanistan? Is there is no protection to young people involved in the task of protecting cows? The Belagavi police are saying that it is not the job of SRS to protect and that those who find suspicious cattle transport should complain to the police. This is not acceptable. How many cows have the police saved till now? We are only doing what the police is failing to do. There is an anti-cow slaughter Act in Karnataka, but still illegal cattle transport and slaughter continue'', he said.
He demanded that the State government provide protection to 'cow protectors'. Instead, it was protecting those who assaulted cow protectors. If the government does not protect us, we will launch a Statewide agitation,' he said.
Mr. Muthalik alleged that the police were opening rowdy sheets on SRS activists on the directions of the government. Even senior activists like Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat and Chakravarti Sulibele were facing cases, he said.
Meanwhile, Imambi Multani, one of the villagers facing investigation in the assault, alleged that the SRS activists had demanded money from cattle traders in the village and when they refused, they allegedly tried to outrage the modesty of a woman. 'This angered the residents, who tied them up and beat them. Hindus and Muslims were part of the mob that beat them up,'' she told reporters in Ingali on Wednesday.

The bill renames the NMET as the National Mineral Exploration and Development Trust to reflect its enlarged scope and increase the amount of payment to the Trust by the lessees from present 2% of the royalty payable to 3%. It enables the inclusion of any new mineral in a mining lease subject to the conditions prescribed by the Central Government. Further it also enables a one-time extension of the area under a mining lease or composite licence to include therein a contiguous area not exceeding 10% or 30% respectively, of the existing area under the lease or licence subject to such terms and conditions and additional payment as may be prescribed in rules by the Centre. 'This will promote optimal mining of deep-seated minerals which are locked up in contiguous areas and may not be economically viable to be extracted under a separate lease or licence,' officials said. 'The mining sector is a key driver of the nation's progress, with critical minerals playing an essential role in renewable energy, electric mobility, and cutting-edge technologies. However, India's domestic production of these critical minerals is limited, leaving us heavily dependent on imports,' said G Kishan Reddy, Union minister of coal and mines. 'From solar panels to wind turbines, agriculture to medical equipment, electronics to electricity, cell phones to aircraft, and defence to sports, critical minerals play a significant role across every sector,' he added.

NIA chargesheets 4 in Pak and Nepal linked fake currencies case
New Delhi, Aug 12 (UNI) The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has charge-sheeted four accused in the 2024 Champaran (Bihar) fake currency seizure case involving a syndicate with linkages in Pakistan and Nepal. The NIA today filed a supplementary chargesheet against the four arrested accused, Md. Nazar Saddam, Md. Waris, Md. Zakir Hushain, and Muzaffar Ahmad Wani alias Sarfaraz, under relevant sections of UA(P) Act before its Special Court in Patna. The accused had earlier been charge-sheeted in the case by the local police in October 2024. The NIA found evidence to show that the accused were involved in smuggling high-quality Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) from Nepal into India with the intent to damage the country's financial stability. They had been procuring the FICN from Pakistan based entities through Nepali handlers against crypto currency payment. The NIA investigation further showed that Md. Nazar Saddam was actively involved, along with Md. Waris and Md. Zakir Hushain, in smuggling FICN from Nepal to India. Muzaffar Ahmad Wani alias Sarfaraz was providing funds and logistic support for procurement and circulation of the notes in India. The case relates to seizure of FICN of face value Rs 1,95,000. The NIA, which took over the case in December 2024, had produced the accused in the court in January this year. Efforts are on to identify further linkages of the syndicate. UNI ATK SSP
