Patrick Mahomes finally reveals what went wrong with Kansas City Chiefs last season and how to fix it
The Kansas City Chiefs finished the 2024 season in a way fans weren't expecting. For the first time in years,
Patrick Mahomes
and his team were blown out in a big game. It wasn't just a loss it was a shocking end.
Now, as the 2025 season approaches, Mahomes isn't talking about revenge. He's not looking to prove people wrong with words.
Instead, he wants to get back on the field and play football correctly.
Patrick Mahomes says Chiefs need joy not pressure
After a tough loss in Super Bowl LIX, many people expected Mahomes to come back with fire and frustration. But during an interview with Kay Adams, he made it clear he's ready to work, not talk.

He explained that the last season felt different.
The team was winning, but it wasn't always fun. They were playing with pressure instead of passion.
'I feel like last year… guys wanted to win not for the fun of the game, but just because we're supposed to,'
he said.
Now, Mahomes wants that joy back. The victories will come, he thinks, when the team plays with confidence and vigor. He is interested in outcomes, not vengeance. 'We have the talent. We have the coaches. We work harder than anyone in the NFL.
So let's go out there and have fun,' he added.
Patrick Mahomes is ready to unleash new weapons in 2025
One issue for the Chiefs in 2024 was their struggling receiving group. Injuries to Rashee Rice and Marquise Brown made things tough. But Mahomes believes the front office made strong moves for 2025.
'We have so many weapons,'
he said.
'Let's go out there and just maximize it all.'

He's excited about a healthy Rashee Rice, a fully fit Marquise 'Hollywood' Brown, and young star Xavier Worthy. Add in
Travis Kelce
and Noah Gray, and Mahomes sees endless options.
'I think it's gonna come from everywhere,' he said.
The Chiefs are aware of past skepticism about them. They responded to detractors by taking back-to-back Super Bowls in 2022 and 2023. Though last year didn't go their way, Mahomes thinks the future looks bright.
Kansas City might be more deadly than ever with a good lineup and a rediscovered emphasis on pleasure. And Mahomes is more motivated by passion than by pressure.

'Imagine Virat Kohli playing, his daughter clapping': Suresh Raina slams BCCI's family ban on tours, calls for more support
Virat Kohli with wife Anushka Sharma; and Suresh Raina NEW DELHI: Former India cricketer Suresh Raina has strongly criticised the BCCI 's decision to bar players' families from accompanying them on overseas tours, calling it unfair and detrimental to players' mental well-being. Earlier this year, following India's Test series loss to Australia, the BCCI issued a revised 10-point guideline that included restrictions on family presence during foreign tours. While the policy was reportedly aimed at maintaining focus and discipline, it has drawn criticism from several quarters - with Raina being one of the most vocal. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! Speaking to YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, Raina said, "It is very important to have family on tours. BCCI has taken a big decision that family is not allowed – I'm against this. You are sending them to a tour for two months… family should be allowed. It's not that they (family) are against the players, they (also) would want us to score runs and the country to win." Inside the Dukes Ball Drama: Gill's Anger, Bumrah's Stand, Root's Take He stressed that having family around offers essential emotional support, especially during tough phases in a cricketer's career. "So out of hesitation, players don't speak out," he said. "Imagine Virat Kohli playing, his daughter clapping – it's such a proud moment. 'Don't think fines work. These lads are quite rich': Michael Vaughan slams slow over-rate in IND vs ENG 3rd Test, suggests solution
Jamie Smith and Brydon Carse run between the wickets on the second day of the third Test between India and England at the Lord's Cricket Ground. (PTI) The third Test match between India and England at Lord's has been marred by slow over-rates from both teams, with a combined loss of 22 overs across the first two days of play. Former England captain Michael Vaughan has highlighted this ongoing issue in Test cricket, as India bowled 83 overs on day one, while day two saw only 75 overs bowled collectively by both teams, falling significantly short of the mandatory 90-over target per day. The match situation currently sees India trailing England's first innings total of 387 by 242 runs with seven wickets remaining. Speaking to BBC Sport, Vaughan addressed the ineffectiveness of financial penalties in addressing the slow over-rate problem. "I don't think fines work. I think these lads are quite rich. I don't think the cash is going to affect them. Been a problem for Test match cricket for a while. I know it's hot. I know we've had a few injuries, but when we get to the fifth day, we have to bowl the 90 overs." Inside the Dukes Ball Drama: Gill's Anger, Bumrah's Stand, Root's Take Vaughan emphasised the inconsistency in play pace across different days of Test matches. "I have no idea why on days one, two, three, and four, we can see the game played at a snail's pace. Surely the game moves on by saying on day one there's 90 overs. Guess what we're going to do? We're going to bowl 90 overs on day two exactly the same." Jasprit Bumrah press conference: Hits out at critics, on Lord's Honours Boards, ball controversy The former England captain proposed a straightforward solution to improve over rates in Test cricket. "You watch on day five when the players, the umpires, know that 90 overs have to be bowled. They'll be running around. There won't be as many drinks breaks, there won't be as many delays because they know that 90 overs have to be bowled. So I'd make it very, very simple. You have to bowl the 90 overs. I would guarantee that would improve the pace. " For real-time updates, scores, and highlights, follow our live coverage of the India vs England Test match here. Taking to X on Saturday, Young wrote, 'Relationships matter, but destroying your competition matters more. ' His post came just days after reports surfaced about the Atlanta Hawks star guard potentially receiving a contract extension — despite critics questioning his form and performance on the court. He remains a part of the team, although many have questioned his role and even hinted at the possibility of a trade. Fans back Trae Young An X user with the handle J5 reacted to Young's tweet, saying, 'That's the mentality I need right now. Focusing on winning above all else. Competition doesn't care about your feelings.' Another user, AI Viral Insights, commented, 'Spoken like a true competitor.' Many also pulled him down for his performance in the post season. The Atlanta Hawks have missed the playoffs in the past two seasons, and the question — has the time for a trade come? — has resurfaced. Following the team's lacklustre performances and failure to reach the postseason, fans have been slamming both the team and its players, including Young. Dyson Daniels stands in support of Trae Young Atlanta Hawks guard and Australia native Dyson Daniels recently spoke in support of Young. 'I was able to come here and play alongside Trae Young. He made my life a lot easier, and our games really complement each other — him on the offensive end, me on the defensive end helping him out. So I think for me, it's just about coming into Atlanta with the right mindset, ready to turn the page," Daniels told Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints. "I wasn't happy with how my two years went in New Orleans, so I was happy with how this year went. But I feel like I could win Most Improved Player again — that'll be another goal of mine going into [next] year,' he added. Young has also been making headlines for potentially securing a new contract — a four-year extension worth a whopping $229 million from the Atlanta Hawks. He even took to his Instagram Stories and shared a Michael Jordan meme.
