Mohamed Tarek Discusses Building Bridges Between Arab Film Festivals at Cannes 78
As part of the exceptional participation of Cairo International Film Festival in the 78th edition of Cannes Film Festival, Film critic Mohamed Tarek, Artistic Director of Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF), took part in a panel discussion titled "Building Bridges Between Arab Film Festivals". The session highlighted the importance of collaboration among Arab film festivals to support local and regional filmmakers, focusing on creating a strong network of festivals working together to advance the film industry in the region.
Mohamed Tarek commented:
"We discussed how this is a significant step for Arab festivals (4 major Arab festivals coming together for the first time) and how collaboration is the way forward for the development of films and festivals. We also talked about how to organize premiere screenings in the region without making them a barrier for audiences to access important Arab films."
The session was held inside the Egyptian Pavilion at Cannes Film Market (Marché du Film), organized jointly by Cairo International Film Festival, El Gouna Film Festival, and the Egypt Film Commission (EFC). The pavilion aims to showcase Egypt's role as a unique global filming destination and an integrated production hub, highlighting the vast production capabilities Egypt offers. It also supports young Egyptian talents through panel discussions and networking events to foster new collaborations with international filmmakers.
Notably, Cairo International Film Festival, established in 1976, is one of the most prominent festivals in the Arab world and Africa. It holds an official international classification as a Category A festival and is the only festival in the Arab world and Africa accredited by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF).

Ryan Reynolds Teases Deadpool's Possible Return in "Avengers: Doomsday"
Yara Sameh Is the foul-mouthed Marvel hero finally joining Earth's Mightiest Heroes? Ryan Reynolds posted Tuesday a cryptic Instagram post teasing fans about the possibility of returning as Deadpool in "Avengers: Doomsday." The post shows a graffiti version of the Avengers logo. He did not include any caption. The logo was previously seen on a flag in 2024's "Deadpool & Wolverine" during a scene where Reynolds' Deadpool and Hugh Jackman's Wolverine were captured. The photo in the post appears to have been taken from a July 2024 Reddit post, where a user posted pictures of several custom Marvel shirts in anticipation of "Deadpool & Wolverine." However, Reynolds' posting the Avengers logo without comment, as filming on "Avengers: Doomsday" is underway, stirred speculation that he could be preparing to announce his involvement in the movie. "If you are saying what I think you're saying, I'm actually gonna scream," a comment on the post read. Reynolds was notably missing from the lengthy "Avengers: Doomsday" cast list that Marvel unveiled in March during an hours-long live stream, where every individual star's name was revealed one at a time. But after the stream ended, Marvel hinted that it was not the complete cast list – and that other actors could be joining the movie. "There's always room for more," the studio teased. The Merc with a Mouth was last seen in "Deadpool & Wolverine," which brought him to the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the first time. While the movie was a massive hit, no sequel has been announced nor has it been confirmed where or when fans will see Deadpool next. During a Variety Actors on Actors segment with Andrew Garfield in December, Reynolds said he would like to see Deadpool function more as a supporting character going forward. "If he comes back, it's going to be in someone's else's movie," he said. Reynolds also told Time magazine in April that he was "writing a little something right now that is an ensemble" involving Deadpool, but did not reveal details. The announced cast list for "Avengers: Doomsday" does include one star from "Deadpool & Wolverine:" Channing Tatum, who made his debut as Gambit in the 2024 "Deadpool" film. Other stars confirmed for the next "Avengers" include Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Paul Rudd, Simu Liu, Florence Pugh, and Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha Videos & Features Story behind Trending Jessica Radcliffe Death Video News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture Lebanese Media: Fayrouz Collapses after Death of Ziad Rahbani
