
UK's University of Bristol gets UGC nod to set up campus in Mumbai, to start operations from 2026
University of Bristol
has received nod from the University Grants Commission (UGC) to set up a campus in Mumbai, and is set to start operations in 2026, officials said on Tuesday.
One the occasion of the fifth anniversary of India's National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the University of Bristol received a letter of intent from the
Indian government
to create a new Enterprise Campus in Mumbai.

According to officials, the University of Bristol chose Mumbai due to the city's strong reputation for technology, innovation and the arts areas which align closely with Bristol's own strengths - with a planned location close to central Mumbai.

The Mumbai Enterprise Campus will be the first international campus that the University of Bristol will be establishing, enabling the institution to deliver world-class education in-country, expanding access and creating real, long-term impact for students, educators, and communities alike in Mumbai, India and the region more broadly.

Bristol's Mumbai Enterprise Campus will bring together industry, academics, students and partners within a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Mirroring the University's new Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus, due to open in September 2026, it will focus on how data, AI and immersive technologies meet and will have a distinctive emphasis on innovation, interdisciplinary education and inclusion.
Initial subjects taught will focus on areas of global distinction for Bristol such as data science, economics, finance and investment, immersive arts and financial technology, expanding to computer science and AI, business and management. The University is also planning to offer
scholarships
as part of its award-winning Think Big programme.

India's PDS Ltd reports strong GMV growth, EBITDA down 31% in Q1 FY26
Indian apparel manufacturing company PDS Limited has announced its consolidated financial results for the first quarter (Q1) of fiscal 2026 (FY26), reporting a 14 per cent year-over-year (YoY) rise in revenue from operations to ₹2,999 crore (~$329.89 million). The company's gross merchandise value (GMV) surged 19 per cent quarter-over-quarter (QoQ) to ₹4,634 crore (~$509.74 million), reflecting strong demand across its global client base. The gross profit for the quarter reached ₹582 crore, up 7 per cent from the previous quarter. Despite the top-line growth, profitability saw a dip. EBITDA declined 31 per cent to ₹51 crore, while profit after tax (PAT) fell 36 per cent to ₹20 crore in Q1 FY26, compared to ₹31 crore in Q4 FY25. India's PDS Limited has reported a 14 per cent YoY rise in Q1 FY26 revenue to ₹2,999 crore (~$329.89 million), with GMV up 19 per cent QoQ. Despite growth, EBITDA fell 31 per cent and PAT declined 36 per cent. The company remains focused on operational efficiency and long-term growth, supported by an asset-light model, strategic restructuring, and promising cost optimisation measures. PDS continues to support global brands and retailers with product development, sourcing, manufacturing, and brand management services. The company remains focused on driving operational efficiencies and long-term strategic growth, even as it navigates profitability challenges in a dynamic global retail environment, it said in a press release. 'While Q1 FY26 reflects a dip in profitability owing to macroeconomic headwinds, we remain firmly on track to deliver on our long-term growth vision. PDS's asset-light, demand-responsive model continues to enable scalable solutions across key global markets. The recent India-UK FTA marks a pivotal step toward enhanced trade flows and deeper partnerships, especially given our strong presence in Europe and the UK,' said Pallak Seth, executive vice chairman at PDS Limited . Three-day CM YUVA Conclave fuels entrepreneurship in youths
Lucknow: The three-day CM YUVA Conclave and Expo-2025 received an overwhelming response, with over 30,000 youths participating in the event, which concluded at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan on Friday, marking a significant milestone in the state's entrepreneurial journey. "The scale of engagement was unprecedented, with more than 24,000 online registrations, over 4,000 offline participants, 10,000 business meetings, 50,000 business queries, and 8,380 prospective entrepreneurs emerging from the conclave," an official spokesperson said. The expo was inaugurated on July 30 by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who encouraged the youth to become self-reliant while interacting with representatives of leading brands.
