Time to move on: Niyati Joshi quits Yeh Rishta after six years

Niyati Joshi; in the show Yeh Rishta Niyati Joshi, who played Swarna Goenka in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai for six years, has decided to bid adieu to the show. The actress said it was the right time to move on and explore new opportunities. 'The biggest joke doing the rounds was how I continued to look the same even after playing a great, great grandmom! When I entered, I was playing mother to my age-group actors, but I had no issues because the role was meaty and had depth. Now, the story no longer focuses on the Goenkas. After the leap, it moved to the other family and I hardly had anything to do. I wasn't shooting for many days in the past few months, so I felt it was time to move on,' she said. About being typecast in older roles, she said, 'I will get similar offers because that is common in TV and I don't mind playing a mother if the role is good. My character in Yeh Rishta looked glamorous even as a great-grandmother, so that was never an issue. But I would love to explore web shows and I hope some meaty roles come my way—it's high time I play something different.' Calling her six-year journey 'fun,' Niyati added, 'It was great working with Rajan Shahi's production house. I will miss the set—it had become a second home. My mother was a bit upset, but I felt it was the right decision. I want to do different things and play different roles.' Niyati Joshi on how she enjoys wearing sarees in her TV show

Shocked at their irresponsibility: Shilpa Shirodkar on how a bus rammed into her car

Shilpa Shirodkar Ranjit Actress Shilpa Shirodkar Ranjit has accused bus company Cityflo of 'irresponsibility' after one of its vehicles rammed into her car on the Jogeshwari-Vikhroli Link Road on Wednesday morning. While Shilpa was not in the car at the time, her driver was injured and left limping, and her maid escaped unhurt. 'The bus came from behind and rammed my car. My maid is safe, but my driver got hurt,' she said. The actress alleged that when she contacted Cityflo, the company representatives asked her to 'settle the matter with the driver' instead of taking responsibility. 'I was shocked — such a big bus company asking the driver, who earns a small salary, to take responsibility. Two gentlemen from the company told me to go to court and settle it through them,' she said, adding that her car had suffered major damage. Shilpa has lodged a complaint at MIDC police station, where she says officers have been 'very supportive' and assured her of action. 'Hopefully this makes people aware that such negligence should not be taken lightly,' she said. Shilpa was last seen in Bigg Boss . The actress has been part of many Bollywood films like Kishan Kanhaiya, Khuda Gawah and Gopi Kishan. The actress in an earlier interview shared how she enjoyed her journey on Bigg Boss. She said, "I lost a lot of weight and became fitter during my journey on the show. The journey was such that you tend to lose weight and you are also away from family."
