LAHAD DATU: Marine police have uncovered a crude palm oil (CPO) misappropriation syndicate worth RM2.29 million after raiding an illegal storage facility at Batu 15 along Jalan Lahad Datu-Sandakan. Sabah Region Four Marine Police Commander ACP Mohd Nazri Ibrahim said the raid on July 25 at 12.50pm led to the discovery of 77,590kg of CPO. Officers also seized two trucks, a van, and an oil storage tank during the operation. Five Malaysians and a foreign national, aged between 20 and 53, were detained to assist with investigations under the Malaysian Palm Oil Board Regulations 2005. Bangkok shooting claims six lives near Chatuchak Market

The attack occurred around 12.30 pm local time at the popular Or Tor Kor fresh food market. The assailant, wearing a black T-shirt and military-style shorts and carrying a backpack, was believed to have used a handgun to open fire on others. Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police, Pol Gen Kitrat Phanphet, confirmed the case and said the assailant was male and had used the handgun to take his own life at the scene. "Police officers are currently working to identify the individual and determine the motive behind the attack," he said in a brief statement on Monday. Kitrat also instructed the Metropolitan Police Bureau to urgently carry out a comprehensive investigation, gather as much evidence as possible, and examine CCTV footage to uncover the facts and swiftly solve the case. The Bangkok Emergency Medical Centre, commonly known as the Erawan Centre, confirmed that the casualties comprised four security personnel, one woman, and the assailant himself. Public urged to remain calm as police probe teen student's death in Papar

The student, Zara Qairina from SMS Tun Datu Mustafa Limauan, was found unconscious in a drain near her hostel in Papar around 4am on July 16. She was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Kota Kinabalu and was later pronounced dead on July 17 at about 1pm. Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun, on Monday, said that the police is conducting a thorough and transparent investigation into the incident. Police are working to determine the exact cause and circumstances surrounding the tragedy. Members of the public are advised not to spread unverified information out of respect for the grieving family. 41 unlicensed ‘KLCC photographers' fined by DBKL

(Facebook pics) PETALING JAYA: Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has issued fines to 41 unlicensed street photographers operating in the KLCC area as part of an enforcement operation over the weekend. The operation, codenamed 'Op Lens', was carried out with support from the police, immigration, national registration department, and federal territories department, targeting unlicensed individuals offering paid photography services in public spaces. DBKL said public spaces were shared property and must be used ethically, in an orderly manner, and in compliance with regulations. 'Unauthorised photography services are not only illegal but also pose safety risks to visitors,' it said in a Facebook post. 'Some of these activities take place on roads or pedestrian walkways, endangering both photographers and clients, and disrupting public movement.' DBKL also warned that repeat offenders risked having their equipment confiscated. It said enforcement would continue to ensure that public areas remain orderly and safe. The crackdown follows mounting complaints on social media from visitors who said they were misled or harassed by self-styled 'photographers' offering low-cost services that escalated into disputes.
