Georgia football gets another 4-star DL commitment
"Ya'll got a pure bred coming to Georgia, from Athens, Georgia, and raised by Dawgs," Lonon speaking about his background of his family.
He recently developed into a coveted recruit that defensive line coach Tray Scott and outside linebackers coach Chidera Uzo-Diribe prioritized. Lonon was an unranked recruit back in June, but that changed after Georgia offered the elite defensive lineman back on June 3.
"It always been trust the process for me. I didn't have any stars until the middle of June now I'm a four-star," Lonon said about his rise to being a heavily-recruited player.
Lonon can play anything from a nine-tech to a three-tech because of his size and speed along the defensive line. He is the latest addition to Georgia's class of 2026, but arguably the most versatile amongthe defensive linemen. His quick twitch ability to get in the backfield is his top skill. Right now, Lonon is another piece to the puzzle for Georgia's 2026 defensive line group, which already features commitments from Valdin Sone, Pierre Dean, Preston Carey, Corey Howard, Carter Luckie and Seven Cloud.
Lonon plays high school football for Clarke Central High School in Athens, Georgia. In 2024 as a junior, he totaled 51 tackles, eight sacks and 15 tackles for a loss. He helped lead Clarke Central to a 8-2 record. The 6-foot-2, 260-pound defender is ranked as the No. 293 recruit in the 2026 recruiting cycle. Lonon is the No. 38 defensive line recruit in the country and the No. 35 prospect in Georgia.
Georgia holds on to their No. 1 recruiting ranking and Lonon makes him the 31st recruit to commit to play in between the hedges.

Clemson football's ranking in 2025 preseason AP Top 25 poll revealed
Only 19 days remain until the Clemson Tigers take the field on Aug. 30 for their much-hyped 2025 college football season opener against the LSU Tigers at Memorial Stadium. After the preseason US LBM Coaches Poll was unveiled last week, many argued that Clemson deserved to be ranked higher than No. 6 Monday saw release of the preseason AP Top 25 poll, and the media members who make up the AP's poll agreed with that sentiment. Clemson debuted at No. 4 in the AP poll, one spot below the reigning national champion Ohio State Buckeyes at No. 3 and one spot ahead of the No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs. Clemson was ranked ahead of two teams that landed in front of the Tigers in the Coaches Poll: Georgia and Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish were No. 6 in Monday's AP poll after being ranked fifth by the coaches. The Texas Longhorns earned the top spot in the AP poll, while Penn State was ranked No. 2. Besides Clemson, two other ACC teams cracked the preseason AP poll. The Miami Hurricanes debuted at No. 10, and the SMU Mustangs were ranked No. 16. Clemson faces SMU on Oct. 18 in Death Valley. Two opponents on Clemson's nonconference schedule were ranked in the top 15. LSU debuted at No. 9 in the AP poll, with rival South Carolina ranked No. 13 -- the same spot both teams landed in the Coaches Poll. Clemson was ranked No. 14 in last year's preseason AP poll. Behind Cade Klubnik's stellar 2024 season that included 3,639 passing yards and 36 touchdowns to only five interceptions, the Tigers went 10-4 and won the ACC for the ninth time under Dabo Swinney to earn a trip to the 12-team College Football Playoff. Former Georgia Bulldog has successful open-heart surgery
Former Georgia Bulldogs tight end Pearce Spurlin III was forced into medical retirement due to a heart condition. That condition led to him recently having open heart surgery at Cleveland Clinic. Fortunately, the surgery was a success, according to his Instagram. "I owe everything to the Lord for watching over me and to my incredible doctors here at the Cleveland Clinic. I would also like to thank everyone who has reached out and prayed for me," Spurlin wrote. "To my family — I love you all so much. I am deeply grateful to have been able to get my heart fixed, knowing that there are people out there fighting the same battle who aren't able to do anything about it." Spurlin was a former four-star tight end from South Walton High School, ranked as the No. 5 tight end in the nation. He was from the class of 2023, but he committed to play for Georgia on Sept. 30, 2020. As a freshman in 2023, he played as a reserve tight end, catching three passes for 60 yards, including a 31-yarder against Florida State in the Orange Bowl. Unfortunately, he was forced to medically retire due to his heart condition in March 2024. Even after his retirement, Kirby Smart and Georgia are keeping him on scholarship. "We care deeply for Pearce and he will remain on scholarship and part of our program," Kirby Smart said in a statement. "Our tight ends coach Todd Hartley and our other tight ends hate for a person and a player like Pearce to not be a part of their room, and they will continue to provide him with the support he needs as he goes through this transition." Ravens' Roquan Smith selected as one of NFL's best 40 players
Former Georgia Bulldogs earn lots of recognition in the NFL and Baltimore Ravens linebacker Roquan Smith became the fifth Georgia player to be named to the top 100, placing at No. 40. Smith and the rest of the top 100 are ranked by their NFL peers. Smith is one of the best active NFL players that played for the Georgia Bulldogs. Ever since he was drafted by the Chicago Bears with the eighth selection in the 2018 NFL draft, he's been one of the best middle linebackers in the league. Through seven seasons, Smith totaled 1,005 tackles, 63 tackles for loss, and 21.5 sacks. Smith became the youngest player in NFL history to reach 1,000 career tackles during the 2024 season. He ranks third among all Georgia NFL players in tackles and 10th in tackles for loss. He has three Pro Bowl selections, two second-team All-Pro selections and three first-team All-Pro selections. He's played with confidence for all of his career, so much so that after the Bears traded Smith to the Ravens in 2022, Smith negotiated his own contract extension, and he ended up signing a five-year, $100 million extension, the richest contract of any linebacker in the league at that point. In 2024, Smith was fifth in the league in combined tackles (154), earning four tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks on his way to his third first-team All-Pro and third Pro Bowl selection. Before his time in the NFL, Smith was just as good at Georgia. From 2015-17, Smith earned 252 tackles, 21 tackles for loss, and 6.5 sacks. In 2017, his junior season, he finished 10th in Heisman voting and was named the 2017 SEC Defensive Player of the Year. Roquan Smith ranked No. 40 in NFL top 100 Georgia Bulldogs in the NFL 100 (more players still TBA) Follow UGAWire on Instagram or Threads!
