18 Of The Best Vintage Dresses To Have Graced The Cannes Red Carpet
Skip to main content
Some of the biggest stars have sported vintage on the Croisette over the years
Cannes Film Festival has delivered some memorable fashion moments over the decades – including some stand-out vintage looks. Think of Kate Moss's black feathered dress, sourced from Lily et Cie, back in 1998, or the trophy vintage that Bella Hadid has worn in recent years, from Tom Ford-era Gucci to '90s Versace.
In fact, 2025 saw British Vogue 's June cover star wearing no fewer than five vintage looks on the Croisette, including a yellow printed minidress by Gianni Versace and a vintage keffiyeh dress by Michael and Hushi from 2001. Meanwhile, Naomi Campbell also dipped into the archives for her sheer-skirted Chanel spring/summer 1997 couture gown – a look that would now fall foul of the Festival's new rules on nudity on the red carpet.
Naked dressing or not, expect to see plenty more vintage on the red carpet this year – particularly as Hadid has already touched down in the south of France. In the meantime, take a look back at some of the best vintage dresses at Cannes Film Festival over the years. In a sunny yellow dress by Dior from the 1950s.
In a vintage monochrome dress by Chanel at the festival's closing ceremony.
In a rare Tom Ford for Gucci cut-out gown from autumn/winter 1996.
In a velvet halterneck gown from Jean Paul Gaultier's autumn/winter 2008 couture collection.
In a Chloé by Stella McCartney slip dress from spring/summer 1999.

Chandan K Anand calls working in Homebound 'nothing short of a dream'
Actor Chandan K. Anand has been entertaining the audience as Roshan Mathew in the show "Kankhajura" these days. Revealing how he approaches such emotionally dense characters, the 'Class' actor shared, "It's never easy to portray complex characters - because it's not just about acting. As actors, we hone our craft for years, but to live a complex character, you must go beyond technique. You must embody the soul of that character so completely that no trace of 'acting' remains." Terming the script as his "sacred text," Chandan said that he ends up reading it around a hundred times before stepping on set. Farah Khan recalls 'sobbing' in front of Shah Rukh Khan for over an hour: 'I received a call from the doctor...' "I kept visualizing it, diving into the hidden meanings, symbols, and subtext. Then I built a personal backstory, something imaginative yet deeply rooted. Eventually, your breath changes, your eyes shift, your energy transforms - and you stop performing. You start being. That's when the magic begins," he added. Chandan has also shared screen space with Janhvi Kapoor , and Ishaan Khatter in Karan Johar 's drama "Homebound". He called working in Neeraj Ghaywan 's directorial "a dream". The actor said, "At this point, I can't reveal too much about my character - but what I can say is that working on Homebound has been nothing short of a dream. To collaborate with Neeraj Ghaywan sir, whose cinema I deeply respect, and under Dharma Productions, has been a milestone for me." Lauding co-stars Janhvi and Ishaan, he added, "Sharing screen space with Janhvi, Ishaan, and Vishal - actors with such distinct energies - elevated the experience. When you're surrounded by passionate storytellers, it sharpens your own craft. I'm not chasing stardom, but I know I'm walking the path with sincerity and fire. And when people like Neeraj sir trust your performance, it feels like you're not just acting - you're arriving. " "Homebound" also recently premiered at Cannes. "I wasn't present at Cannes physically, but being part of a film that screened there - and was loved - is surreal in itself. It's a blessing. Knowing that international audiences are watching and feeling something we created - that's what we live for as actors, " Chandan concluded.

I Just Got Back From Paris And These White Trainers Were Inescapable
Most people who live in a major city think theirs is the coolest. Londoners swear by London. Berliners swear by Berlin. New Yorkers stand by the Big Apple, etc, etc. I'm in the first camp, of course – London has its own extra special style. But I do have to say, those Parisians are onto something, too. Often understated and artfully undone, Parisian style tends to be subtle yet considered. It's no wonder that literally everyone wants to dress like a French girl these days, even if they are from the home counties. Which brings me to a recent – and very brief – trip I took to Paris this week, during which I spent some time people watching from various cafes around town (as is my right, when in Paris), while drinking back-to-back espressos. There were obviously a lot of impeccable jeans, a lot of brown leather loafers. But also, one pair of trainers kept popping up in a way that was hard to ignore: the Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66s, in white and a long time, the bright yellow Mexico 66s were the trainers to cop. This is partly because they're the trainers Uma Thurman wears in Kill Bill – obviously – and partly because of models like Bella Hadid and Kaia Gerber helping to usher in a new relevance. In Paris, though, it was the white colourway I was seeing most often. Usually the white and black pair, but more than once the all-white version. This particular colourway being so popular in Paris right now makes sense – while the mustard Mexico 66s are bold and statement-y, the white version give off a sense of quiet cool. Paired with some blue denim and a white tee in the summertime? Très beau . We're probably going to be seeing a lot more Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66s out in the wild more generally – not just in Paris. Over the past 18 months or so, the Japanese brand has opened 28 stores across the world, from Shanghai to Barcelona and London. Its first ever flagship store, though? Well, that was in Paris of course – way back in 2002. And Parisians have been stepping out in these cute and classic little sneakers ever since.
