Disney Sets Release Dates for "The Devil Wears Prada" Sequel, Ridley Scott's "The Dog Stars"
Yara Sameh
Disney has shared updates on a pair of high-profile titles from 20th Century Studios: "The Devil Wears Prada 2" , and Ridley Scott's post-apocalyptic thriller "The Dog Stars".
News broke last July that a sequel to the 2006 comedy 'The Devil Wears Prada' was officially in the works at Disney.
The studio has now officially set a May 1, 2026 theatrical release date for the follow-up.
Though it was reported last year that Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt would be returning, no cast members have been officially confirmed.
Stanley Tucci, who starred in the original 'Devil Wears Prada,' recently told
Variety
, 'I know they're working on it. If it happens, I would be so happy, but I cannot give you any information. Otherwise, I'll go to the actor's prison or something. [The original] was one of the best experiences ever.
'The Devil Wears Prada' was based on Lauren Weisberger's dishy 2003 novel about a young woman's nightmarish experience working at a fashion magazine
Weisberger worked as a personal assistant for American Vogue editor Anna Wintour.
Streep starred as Miranda Priestly, the all-powerful editor-in-chief of the fictional Runway magazine.
Hathaway was Andrea Sachs, a fresh-faced journalism graduate who gets the job that 'a million girls would kill for' as Priestly's assistant.
Blunt is Priestley's harried first assistant who must show Andy the ropes. Tucci plays Nigel, a longtime fashion editor at Runway who takes Andy under his wing and introduces her to Runway's fashion closet.
The next chapter reportedly follows Priestly as she navigates her career amid the decline of traditional magazine publishing and as she faces off against Blunt's character, now a high-powered executive for a luxury group with advertising dollars that Priestly desperately needs.
The official dating of the sequel came amid a sweeping reorganization of Disney's coming theatrical release calendar, which also saw the delay of both 'Avengers: Doomsday' and 'Avengers: Secret Wars.'
Moreover, 'The Dog Stars,' with Jacob Elordi, Josh Brolin and Margaret Qualley, is set to open March 27, 2026.
Meanwhile, the studio has also set an October 3 theatrical re-release of 'Avatar: The Way of Water' in Imax/3D, ahead of 'Avatar: Fire and Ash' on Dec. 19.
In 2022, the studio issued a similar re-release of the original 2009 'Avatar' in anticipation of the release of 'The Way of Water.'

Nicole Kidman to Star in TV Series "Girls and Their Horses"
Yara Sameh Nicole Kidman is set to star in and executive produce a series adaptation of the Eliza Jane Brazier novel 'Girls and Their Horses'. The project is currently in development and will be co-produced by Legendary Television and Amazon MGM Studios for Prime Video. Brazier will write the pilot and executive produce. Jenna Lamia will serve as showrunner and executive producer. Kidman will executive produce along with Per Saari under their Blossom Films banner. 'Girls and Their Horses' marks a reunion for Kidman and Lamia. Lamia previously developed and showran the hit Netflix series 'The Perfect Couple,' based on the novel by Elin Hilderbrand, in which Kidman starred and executive produced. The official logline for 'Girls and Their Horses' reads, 'A murder-mystery set in the beachside equestrian community of Rancho Santa Fe, California, 'Girls and Their Horses' follows the newly wealthy Parker family as they aim to position their teenage daughters in the rarified, sometimes-deadly world of competitive horse riding.' Should it move forward, this would mark the latest series role for Kidman, who has quickly become the hardest working actress in television. In addition to 'The Perfect Couple,' she has starred in the shows 'Big Little Lies,' 'Top of the Lake: China Girl,' 'The Undoing,' 'Nine Perfect Strangers,' 'Lioness,' and 'Expats' since 2017. The second season of 'Nine Perfect Strangers' recently debuted, while Kidman is also attached to star in the shows 'Scarpetta' at Prime Video and 'Margo's Got Money Troubles' at Apple TV+. She also has a stellar film career, for which she has received five Oscar nominations with one win. Her recent film credits include 'The Northman,' 'Babygirl,' 'A Family Affair,' and 'Being the Ricardos.' In addition to 'Girls and Their Horses,' Brazier is also the author of the books 'If I Disappear' and 'Good Rich People,' both of which she is currently adapting for TV. The former is set up at 20th Television, while the latter is at MRC. She is also working on a feature screenplay based on her novel 'It Had to Be You' at Sony. This is the latest collaboration between Legendary TV and Amazon MGM Studios in recent weeks. It was reported back in April that Legendary's 'Pacific Rim' TV series is now set up at Amazon, while the two studios, along with Pacesetter Productions, have struck a deal to develop a series based G. Emily Hampshire Cast as E.D.I.T.H. in "WandaVision" Spinoff "Vision"
Yara Sameh Marvel Studios' "WandaVision" spin-off series "Vision" has landed 'Schitt's Creek' star Emily Hampshire as E.D.I.T.H., the Stark Industries artificial intelligence introduced in 2019's 'Spider-Man: Far From Home.' Hampshire joins Paul Bettany, who is reprising his role as the now-reincarnated synthezoid character, the physical manifestation of another Stark Industries AI, Jarvis. In 'Far From Home,' E.D.I.T.H. is presented as a gift that Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) bequeaths to Peter Parker (Tom Holland) after Stark sacrifices his life in 'Avengers: Endgame.' (The name stands for 'Even Dead, I'm The Hero.') Peter controls E.D.I.T.H. through a pair of high-tech sunglasses, which he unwittingly gives to the film's villain, Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal), before retrieving them at the end of the movie. The glasses are confiscated after Peter's identity as Spider-Man is revealed to the world, and E.D.I.T.H.'s ultimate fate is left unresolved. It's unclear whether Hampshire is just lending her voice to the role or will be embodying it as well, but the character will be one of several AIs to populate the series. James Spader is reprising his role as Ultron, the villain from 2015's 'Avengers: Age of Ultron,' and T'Nia Miller ('The Diplomat') is playing Jocasta, another robotic character from the Marvel Comics. Other co-stars include Todd Stashwick ('Star Trek: Picard'), Ruaridh Mollica ('Ridley') and Faran Tahir, who is reprising the role of 'Iron Man' villain Raza. Terry Matalas ('Star Trek: Picard,' '12 Monkeys') is the executive producer and showrunner for the Vision series, which is set to debut in 2026. Best known for her standout role as Stevie Budd on 'Schitt's Creed,' Hampshire most recently starred on the Amazon series 'The Rig.' She'll next appear opposite Vince Vaughn and James Marsden in the action comedy 'Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice.' read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Sports Neymar Announced for Brazil's Preliminary List for 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers News Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly Inaugurates Two Indian Companies Arts & Culture New Archaeological Discovery from 26th Dynasty Uncovered in Karnak Temple Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream
