Ungaludan Stalin scheme: ‘over 300 petitions processed on first day in Krishnagiri'
Earlier, Mr. Sakkarapani inspected the special camps under the Ungaludan Stalin scheme that was under way at Kattiganapalli panchayat and reviewed the processing of the petitions.
Speaking about the camps, Mr. Sakkarapani said, 288 camps are scheduled to be held in Krishnagiri, which includes 55 camps in urban areas and 173 camps in rural areas.
Highlighting the time-bound manner of processing applications, Mr. Sakkarapani stated on day one of the camp, a total of 308 petitions were processed . As of date, 42 special camps witnessed a receipt of 32,133 petitions across the district.
The received petitions will be processed within a period fo 45 days. Urging those eligible for income assurance under the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai scheme, the Minister said the applications for the same were issued only in these camps and not elsewhere.
Earlier, Mr. Sakkarapani also reviewed the arrangements ahead of the scheduled visit of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin to Hosur in the third week of August. He reviewed the progress of the projects and schemes sought to be launched by the Chief Minister.

Ungaludan Stalin Scheme used to enroll voters into DMK: EPS
Leader of Opposition and AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Saturday alleged that the newly launched Ungaludan Stalin Scheme (USS) by the State government has been used by the ruling DMK party as a ploy to enroll voters as members of the party. Addressing a public gathering here as part of his State-wide tour, Mr. Palaniswami said the DMK has come to a stage where the party has to do door-to-door campaigns for membership drive for 2026 assembly polls. The former Chief Minister blamed DMK for trying to break AIADMK after the party returned to power in May 2021. Several attempts were made by the DMK to split its archrival but all its attempts were failed due to loyal support of party cadre to AIADMK leadership led by him. The AIADMK leader said that many poor government students especially in rural areas were able to pursue medical education in the State mainly due to 7.5% internal reservation in undergraduate medical admissions that was introduced during the AIADMK regime under his tenure. 'At present, 2,818 students pursue MBBS in the State under the internal reservation that was brought during AIADMK rule. On the contrary, DMK is known only for organising car races in Chennai and a proposal to install a PEN memorial in the sea using tax payers money,' he said.

30 lakh petitions filed in 'Ungaludan Stalin' campaign across Tamil Nadu
Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government's flagship outreach initiative, 'Ungaludan Stalin', which means (Stalin With You), has seen an overwhelming response from the public, with more than 30 lakh petitions submitted in just 30 days. According to official figures, the petitions were received through 3,561 special camps organised across the state between July 15 and August 14. The campaign, launched to take governance closer to the people, was designed to provide citizens with a platform to submit grievances and seek access to welfare schemes directly at their doorsteps. The initiative enabled lakhs of residents, particularly from rural areas, to bring issues related to welfare schemes, certificates, and government services to the attention of officials without the hurdles of visiting multiple offices. A notable aspect of the petitions was the high number of women applicants. Reports indicate that 13.7 lakh petitions came from women seeking re-enrolment in the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai (KMUT) scheme, a monthly financial assistance programme for eligible women heads of households. The sheer volume of applications underscores both the popularity of the scheme and the demand for ensuring continuity of benefits among the state's women beneficiaries. Officials have emphasised that the government intends to process these petitions on a war footing. The Greater Chennai Corporation, which coordinated the campaign within the city, has assured that all grievances registered during the camps will be addressed within 45 days. Similar assurances have been given by district administrations across Tamil Nadu. Chief Minister M.K. Stalin's government has positioned 'Ungaludan Stalin' as an extension of its larger goal of bringing administration closer to the people. The outreach initiative builds on earlier grievance-redressal mechanisms such as 'Ungal Thoguthiyil Mudhalamaichar' (Chief Minister in Your Constituency), but with greater accessibility and larger participation. With the staggering number of petitions received in a short span, the state government now faces the challenge of ensuring speedy follow-up action. Observers note that the credibility of the campaign will ultimately rest on whether these lakhs of grievances are resolved within the promised timeframe, thereby strengthening public faith in the government's delivery mechanisms.

DMK is a corporate company meant for elite, not for masses: EPS
Leader of Opposition and AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Friday reiterated his charge that the ruling DMK has always been functioning as a 'corporate company', mainly serving the elite section in the society and not for masses in Tamil Nadu. Addressing a public gathering in Tiruvannamalai as part of his State-wide tour, Mr. Palaniswami said unlike AIADMK where a ordinary person can reach top position in the party over the years and could also even become a Chief Minister like him, persons with ordinary background cannot climb up in the hierarchy of DMK and become its top leader. 'I am the example of an ordinary person becoming a Chief Minister and heading a powerful political party. It's possible only in AIADMK where only loyalty matters and in DMK, it promotes dynastic politics,' he said. The AIADMK leader claimed surging crowds during his State-wide tour clearly exemplifies support of people for the part. It also shows their frustration towards the DMK government. Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has been daydreaming of winning his second term in the 2026 assembly elections. Mr. Stalin is faraway from reality, he said. The former Chief Minister criticised the Ungaludan Stalin Scheme, which was launched by Mr. Stalin in July to address people's grievances at special camps in the State, as the State machinery including government officials has been used for the scheme, mainly to propagate about DMK to voters ahead of assembly polls. 'After four years in power, Mr. Stalin was aware only now about people's grievances in 46 different areas that should be addressed. The scheme is a ploy to draw voters towards DMK,' he alleged. Contrary to the claim made by Mr. Stalin that 98% of 525 poll promises were fulfilled, Mr. Palaniswami listed many poll promises made by DMK during 2021 polls that remain unfulfilled. Some of them include increase in total working days from 100 to 150 under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) scheme, cancellation of education loan, ₹100 subsidy for LPG cylinders and reduction of petrol and diesel prices in the State, he claimed.
