BTS' Jungkook draws over 6.5 million followers in 1 day with new Instagram account
SEOUL – Jungkook of BTS proved his global influence once again, amassing millions of new followers in a single day with the launch of his new Instagram account.
Though the personal account created on Tuesday had no posts yet, it had already surpassed 6.5 million followers by Wednesday morning.
Jungkook confirmed that the Instagram profile was indeed his during a livestream on the new account. He also explained via a follow-up Weverse Live broadcast that the name of the account, 'mnijungkook,' is short for 'my name is Jungkook.'
He first launched a personal Instagram account in December 2021, which gained over 50 million followers. However, he deleted the account in 2023, saying he 'wasn't using it.'
His new account currently follows the official BTS Instagram and the individual accounts of fellow BTS members.
Jungkook completed his military service on June 11. BTS is currently preparing for a full-group comeback, scheduled for spring 2026.

Robot dog in Mexico teaches animal kindness on the streets
[MONTERREY, Mexico] He walks, he talks, he runs and he plays. He's 'Waldog', an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered robot that is making the rounds in the northern city of Monterrey, Mexico, to raise awareness about animal abuse and welfare. With a metallic, friendly voice, Waldog is about the size of a beagle and initiates conversations with children and adults about animal rights. 'Hi, I'm Waldog, and I'm here to give a voice to those who don't have one, the animals who live on the streets,' he told one group of laughing residents in the low-income neighbourhood of Santa Catarina in Monterrey on Aug 8. Waldog told them his job is to 'raise awareness' about animal treatment. Federal Senator Waldo Fernandez of Monterrey said that he paid US$4,084 for Waldog with his own money and named the pet after himself. Waldog needs adult accompaniment and is operated by a remote control. Fernandez, a self-professed animal activist, said that Waldog seeks to encourage kindness and responsibility towards animals and humans alike. But it will also serve a practical purpose, Fernandez said in an Instagram post: Waldog will flag trash on the street, potholes and register fellow street dogs. Robot dogs have also been used in search and rescue missions following natural disasters. US authorities are also working on developing robot dogs for patrol along the US-Mexico border. The Taiwan-born Singaporean, 41, thanked his wife, 32, for her unwavering perseverance in her journey to becoming a mother.
