Nicole Scherzinger Calls Late Actor Liam Payne A ‘Beautiful Soul'
Nicole Scherzinger recently reflected on her time working with Liam Payne on Netflix's new show Building the Band. Remembering their moments together, Nicole described Liam as 'a beautiful, kind soul and heart." The former One Direction member tragically passed away last year at the age of 31 following an accident in Argentina.
Nicole shared that the team is incredibly proud of everything Liam accomplished, and the show is now dedicated to his memory. She also added that working with him was a joy, and she's grateful that audiences will get to see him shine through the series.
While appearing on The Seth Meyers Show, Nicole said, 'We've dedicated the show to Liam. We're so proud of him. He had such an amazing time. We had so much fun doing the show together, and he's such a beautiful, kind soul and heart. We would have never continued to, you know, share the show unless we had his family's blessings and they were actually there in the process with it while we filmed it. We're just really proud of him, and I'm excited for everyone to see Liam shine, and it's really cool."
'We've come full circle. I mean, especially with Liam and I from X Factor to One Direction and he's walked this path. So, he's the perfect person to be able to help people in this way, to be able to give back, and he loved it. He really believed in the bands in the show," Nicole Scherzinger added.
Back in 2022, an old video from 2010 resurfaced online, revealing that Nicole Scherzinger played a key role in forming One Direction during The X Factor. For years, many believed Simon Cowell was solely responsible for creating the group, but the behind-the-scenes clip told a different story. Speaking about it later on the talk show, Sherri, as reported by People, Nicole admitted she was surprised the video even emerged. She joked that she thought it had been deleted or would never see the light of day. Nicole also pointed out that the footage clearly shows her helping to bring the boys together as a group.
Nicole shared that she was glad the old video finally came to light, as it captured the moment she helped bring the members of One Direction together. Having recently stepped away from her own girl group, the Pussycat Dolls, she understood firsthand the power and potential of a successful music group. That experience gave her the insight to recognise the value of uniting individual talents. She added that it felt meaningful and rewarding to be part of One Direction's journey from the very beginning.
Building The Band is hosted by The Backstreet Boys star AJ McLean, while the judging panel includes Nicole Scherzinger, Kelly Rowland and late Liam Payne. The show is now available to watch on Netflix.

Freida Pinto To Lead Netflix Series Based On Jhumpa Lahiri's Unaccustomed Earth
Los Angeles: Indian actor Freida Pinto is set to headline Unaccustomed Earth, a series adaptation of author Jhumpa Lahiri's short story collection of the same title. The project was announced by streaming service Netflix in April and will feature eight episodes, according to entertainment news outlet Variety. Pinto, known for starring in critically-acclaimed and award-winning movies such as Slumdog Millionaire, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger and Love Sonia, will essay the role of Parul Chaudhury. Unaccustomed Earth is described as an "epic, soapy, and culturally vibrant drama about a tight-knit Indian American community navigating love, desire, and belonging". "Rich with nuance, passion, and unforgettable characters, 'Unaccustomed Earth' invites you into the elite and insular Indian-American community of Cambridge, MA. When a star-crossed romance between a devoted wife and her long lost love comes to light, a scandalous affair is born and new battle lines are drawn in this intensely interconnected immigrant community," the official logline read. The series will be written by John Wells, best known for developing hit American show "Shameless" and directing movies such as "August: Osage County" and "Burnt", in collaboration with Madhuri Shekar, who will serve as the showrunner. Ritesh Batra, the director of The Lunchbox and "Photograph, will helm and executive produce the first and second episodes. Filmmaker Nisha Ganatra, who had originally optioned the book and developed the series, will also executive produce. Lahiri will executive produce as well, along with Erica Saleh, Erin Jontow and Celia Costas. Her 2003 novel The Namesake was famously adapted into a 2006 film by Mira Nair, starring Kal Penn, Tabu, and Irrfan Khan. Unaccustomed Earth will be produced by Warner Bros Television, where Wells is under an overall deal.
