Alex Jones' car was unexpectedly turned into a "big hedge" by 'Doctor Who' set designers.
'The One Show' presenter, 48, once scrambled to get out of her home in Cardiff, Wales, at 4:30am and drive to film a TV music programme, but Alex panicked when she opened her front door and saw her yellow Volkswagen Beetle had "disappeared" as the BBC One sci-fi series shot a "period piece" in her street.
Alex explained to McFly drummer Harry Judd, 39, on their 'Binge!' podcast: "When I was living in Cardiff, where they filmed 'Doctor Who', I once had to leave at 4.30[am] in the morning to go and record a music programme that I was presenting at the time.
"It was a television programme, but we had to be in makeup at 6[am]. It was quite a drive, right? Anyway, so 4:30[am], I opened the front door, and my car disappeared, which I panic.
"But instead, there's a big hedge outside my house. What had happened was the team of 'Doctor Who' - what do you call them, like designers, had turned my car into a hedge because they were filming on the street."
Harry asked the TV star if it was a "prank", to which Alex replied: "No, so they were filming a period piece in 'Doctor Who'.
"And, of course, they didn't want any modern-looking cars on the street."
The 'All About You' hitmaker asked the former presenter of the BBC One shopping budgeting documentary series, 'Shop Well For Less': "They didn't ask your permission?"

Alex - who is set to appear in an episode of the current series of 'Doctor Who' "soon" where she had to "interview a guy" - admitted: "Well, maybe a slip of paper had come through the door.
"And so I opened the front door, no car, and then realised that my lovely yellow Beetle at the time had been turned into a hedge ...
"I just found somebody with a clipboard and said, 'Guys, I'm really sorry, but I'm going to need to move.' And they were like, 'Oh, no, what?! This is why we're filming at this time in the morning.'"

ITV's hit series The Fortune Hotel returns for a second series tonight - and host Stephen Mangan has addressed some fans' claims that the show is similar to BBC One's The Traitors ITV's gameshow The Fortune Hotel is back tonight, with a new cast of contestants hoping to take home a suitcase carrying £250,000 from the Caribbean resort. Hosted by actor Stephen Mangan, the new series is set to kick off with a major twist - as one couple is kicked off the show before they even make it to the hotel. Since premiering last year, the show has faced some comparisons to BBC One hit The Traitors - however, Stephen has insisted that the two series are very different. "I don't mind at all - The Traitors is a great show and there's plenty of room for more than one show," he told The Mirror in an exclusive chat. "I think it's clearly very different. We have those really tense sessions at the end but there's also a lot of fun in our show. It's really fun to watch. People are hilarious in it. "But I'm flattered by those comparisons. The proof of the pudding is always in whether people watch it and a lot of people watched out first series so that's the best thing really." Stephen Mangan spent a month in the Caribbean to film ITV 's The Fortune Hotel, but it wasn't all plain sailing - with the TV presenter admitting that it was 'tough' being away from his family for that long. The 57-year-old, who shares two sons with wife Louise Delamere, said: 'It was during term time so my family couldn't join hard phoning home when your wife's doing the school run in the rain in November and you're complaining about it being too hot on the beach. It doesn't go down very well.' As tensions rise and couples squabble, Stephen reveals that he struggles to watch the contestants bicker on the beach - which they do several times in the series. 'I don't like people falling out in front of me,' he says. 'I know some people go through life creating that drama but I'm not one of those people.' With the show now under his belt, Stephen admits that he now has no excuse not to do I'm A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here. 'I would like to say that I wouldn't want to go away from my family for that long to the jungle but clearly I'm doing it,' he says. While he's not too keen for the jungle, Stephen wants to bring back classic Channel 4 sitcom Green Wing after two decades. 'That would be fun to see them 20 years later,' he says. Alex Jones (Image: PA Wire/PA Images) Welsh broadcaster Alex Jones has said she feels like she has "grown up" with viewers of The One Show as she marks 15 years on the show. Jones, 48, who started out in children's TV, joined the BBC weekday chat show in August 2010 and hosted major events including royal weddings, Sport Relief and Eurovision. She has also interviewed a number of Hollywood stars including Robert De Niro, Julianne Moore, Jackie Chan and Stephen Graham. Marking a decade and a half on the programme, Jones said: "I feel incredibly proud to have been on the iconic sofa for all these years. It certainly doesn't feel like 15 years, and it still feels fresh, as the show keeps evolving. I feel like we keep coming back better and better. "I started as a young girl and I feel like I've grown up with our viewers. They have seen me through all my big life moments like getting engaged and married, to having children. Our viewers are like extended family by now. "I'll be here as long as they'll have me. I have loved the last 15 years and love presenting the show and I think we're just getting stronger and stronger, from stories to guests and presenters." Reflecting on her career on the show, she recounted the impact the pandemic had, adding that viewers kept her "sane". She said: "I think that our connection with our audience is stronger than it's ever been. I think that relationship was cemented during the pandemic. "It was a big turning point for the show. We became a lifeline for some of our viewers and they trusted us to reflect on the bizarre situation we as collectively found ourselves, but also balance that with stories that distract from the news. "We were the light at the end of sometimes a very dark news bulletin. The viewers kept me sane as much as I did them." Jones has worked alongside broadcasters including Vernon Kay, Clara Amfo, Lauren Laverne and Roman Kemp. She added: "What a lucky girl I am! I have Roman now, and Vernon and JB, as well as Clara and Lauren, and they couldn't be a lovelier bunch. I think the beauty about this line-up is that it lets the show drive forward, because each one of those brilliant broadcasters, they all bring something very different." Article continues below "It's really nice to have this brilliant team of lovely, seasoned, brilliant broadcasters." She also co-hosted alongside former footballer Jermaine Jenas, before he was removed from the presenting team after alleged issues relating to workplace conduct. Jones also joined the Strictly Come Dancing cast in 2011, making it into the semi-finals and finishing in fifth place with professional dancer James Jordan.
