Alex Jones' car was unexpectedly turned into a "big hedge" by 'Doctor Who' set designers.
'The One Show' presenter, 48, once scrambled to get out of her home in Cardiff, Wales, at 4:30am and drive to film a TV music programme, but Alex panicked when she opened her front door and saw her yellow Volkswagen Beetle had "disappeared" as the BBC One sci-fi series shot a "period piece" in her street.
Alex explained to McFly drummer Harry Judd, 39, on their 'Binge!' podcast: "When I was living in Cardiff, where they filmed 'Doctor Who', I once had to leave at 4.30[am] in the morning to go and record a music programme that I was presenting at the time.
"It was a television programme, but we had to be in makeup at 6[am]. It was quite a drive, right? Anyway, so 4:30[am], I opened the front door, and my car disappeared, which I panic.
"But instead, there's a big hedge outside my house. What had happened was the team of 'Doctor Who' - what do you call them, like designers, had turned my car into a hedge because they were filming on the street."
Harry asked the TV star if it was a "prank", to which Alex replied: "No, so they were filming a period piece in 'Doctor Who'.
"And, of course, they didn't want any modern-looking cars on the street."
The 'All About You' hitmaker asked the former presenter of the BBC One shopping budgeting documentary series, 'Shop Well For Less': "They didn't ask your permission?"

Alex - who is set to appear in an episode of the current series of 'Doctor Who' "soon" where she had to "interview a guy" - admitted: "Well, maybe a slip of paper had come through the door.
"And so I opened the front door, no car, and then realised that my lovely yellow Beetle at the time had been turned into a hedge ...
"I just found somebody with a clipboard and said, 'Guys, I'm really sorry, but I'm going to need to move.' And they were like, 'Oh, no, what?! This is why we're filming at this time in the morning.'"

Ncuti Gatwa reveals real reason behind Doctor Who exit as fans suspect it 'wasn't planned'
Doctor Who fans were left shocked during Saturday's night finale of the BBC show when Ncuti Gatwa left his role as the Doctor after just two series and regenerated into old fan favourite Billie Piper. Doctor Who's star Ncuti Gatwa is set to go down in the beloved sci-fi shows' 62 year history for many reasons - one of them being as one of the few actors who served the shortest time in his role as the Doctor. After just two series of the iconic drama, the Scottish-Rwandan actor shared with fans that he was stepping down from his role as the Time Lord. Ncuti cited the reason he quit was due to the physical and mental demands of the show, especially on his lead character, but fans believe his exit was not a planned one despite what the Sex Education star has told the media. The 32-year-old has now been replaced by the iconic Billie Piper, who previously starred in the BBC drama as Rose Tyler alongside former doctor Christopher Ecclestone, who only lasted one series. Piper also starred in the 2006 series with David Tennant. Ncuti recorded a video explanation for his fans after his exit was aired in the Doctor Who season 15 finale on Saturday May 31. He said: "It's a role that demands a lot of you physically and emotionally and mentally. The actors playing the Doctor are only actors playing the Doctor. Unfortunately, we are mere mortals. "I would love to have the energy and the youth to be able to do this full time for the rest of my life, but my knees are telling me it's time." However, die-hard fans believe there is another reason behind his exit, the Mirror reports. Taking to X, one fan named Mr Tardis had clearly done their research as they wrote: "In October 2024, Ncuti Gatwa was on 'The Graham Norton Show' saying he was going to be filming another series of DW next year. "In June 2025, he officially leaves the show and regenerates. This was never the plan. What a shame. He deserved so much better." Another echoed: "In situations like that, they'll often shoot two different alternative scenes: one where the series continues, and one to finish things off. "Ncuti may well have actually thought he'd be staying on back in October 2024, even after filming a regeneration scene just in case." A third fan was left disappointed with the news of his exit as they wrote: "I am so f****g sad. its one thing to see your doctor regenerate because they chose to, another to see it happen because of behind the scenes s**t. "I loved literally every episode this era. I've been defending it the whole time. this.. this kinda broke me." Adding to his exit speech, Ncuti said: "You know when you get cast, at some point, you are going to have to hand back that sonic screwdriver and it is all going to come to an end, but nothing quite prepares you for it. "This journey has been one that I will never forget and a role that will be part of me forever. He added: "There are no words to describe what it feels like to be cast as the Doctor, nor are there words to explain what it feels like to be accepted into this iconic role that has existed for over 60 years and is truly loved by so many across the globe." The former Doctor Who star continued: "The fans are truly the final character and beating heart of this show and I can't thank the Whoniverse, and the Whovians, enough for welcoming me in, and making this such a touching experience. "I've loved every minute of it, but now is the time to hand over the keys to that beloved blue box and let someone else take control and enjoy it every bit as much as I have. I'll truly miss it, and forever be grateful to it, and everyone that has played a part in my journey as the Doctor." Meanwhile showrunner Russell T. Davies also expressed his sadness over Ncuti's decision to step down. He expressed: "What a Doctor! Thank you, Ncuti! As his final words say, this has been an absolute joy, and the team in Cardiff and everyone who has worked on this show for the past few years, are so lucky to have been part of Ncuti's great adventure as he shoots off to stratospheric new heights." He added: "Billie once changed the whole of television, back in 2005, and now she's done it again! It's an honour and a hoot to welcome her back to the Tardis, but quite how and why and who is a story yet to be told. "After 62 years, the Doctor's adventures are only just beginning!" A spokesperson for Doctor Who declined to comment.

Antiques Roadshow expert John Benjamin was on hand to deliver a valuation on a pair of drop earrings and a sapphire ring On Sunday's Antiques Roadshow, expert John Benjamin gave two hopeful guests some disappointing news at the stunning Wollaton Hall in Nottingham. The episode featured locals bringing in their treasures, with a pair of guests presenting family Art Deco jewellery for valuation. At first glance inside an old tin, John discovered exquisite platinum drop earrings and a sapphire ring. One of the guests related the tale of his mother receiving the jewels from a friend, who was acquainted with a man with connections to France. John, upon closer inspection, found a significant alteration: "Someone who has owned these in their history has taken them to a jeweller and said: 'I'm not sure if I like the fittings!' "So what they've done is they've removed the original fittings from the back and they've soldered on these long gold sort of posts with nine carat gold screw fittings at the end", reports Edinburgh Live. While examining the ring, John revealed a surprising fact about its authenticity, revealing: "Here's an interesting point, in the 1920s, when that was made, synthetic rubies and sapphires were beginning to appear on the market." He delivered the blow when he declared: "The sapphires on the shoulders in the ring are actually synthetic. They're not real. So, there we are." During the valuation, he revealed: "Here's the bad news, those drops, today, if they were having the original fittings on them. I think would be worth between £4,000 and £5,000. "But because the fittings have been changed, I think we've got to now drop that price to probably £2,500 to £3,000 simply because of a clumsy conversion." Regarding the sapphire ring, he estimated: "The ring about £1500." This led to one of the guests quipping: "How much is the box worth?" which prompted John to respond with a chuckle: "Priceless, absolutely priceless the box!" In another segment, art expert Rupert Maas appraised a monochrome painting of Princess Daisy of Pless, an icon of Edwardian high society. The owner explained how her father had found the artwork in a Watford junk shop for a mere £13.50. Rupert encouraged her to keep it on display, especially after revealing its surprising value of £2,000 to £3,000. The owner was shocked, saying: "Really? Gosh! I was thinking you were going to say a couple of hundred," to which Rupert acknowledged it wasn't a huge sum but definitely a significant increase from what was paid.
