Pune Regional Passport officer Arjun Deore said, "Many applicants fail on either document requirements or eligibility criteria, and thus cannot submit applications successfully. Applicants must carefully read the Tatkaal advisory and Tatkaal undertaking to avoid any potential issues on the appointment day."

Under Section 5 of the Passports Act 1967, the passport authority may conduct additional inquiries and demand extra documentation, as deemed necessary.
Deore advised applicants to carry original documents, including QR code birth certificate with Aadhaar number, Std 10 certificate, existing passport, latest eAadhaar with scannable QR code, PAN card with hologram, voter ID with hologram and driving licence.
Married applicants need a marriage certificate or joint photo declaration (Annexure J), while parents applying for minors require Annexure D and both parents' passports.

"Smart ID cards printed on plastic by private entities are not accepted, and Aadhaar is not considered as proof of date of birth," Dr Deore clarified. Applicants must download mAadhaar and DigiLocker apps and ensure all QR codes on documents can be scanned for verification before visiting the PSK.
Only DigiLocker-issued documents shared during online application submission will be accepted, while uploaded documents to DigiLocker Drive are not treated as authentic.

MP Waje seeks immigration checkpoint at Nashik airport
Nashik: Nashik MP Rajabhau Waje recently met with Union aviation minister Ram Mohan Naidu to push for significant developments at Nashik airport ahead of the upcoming Simhastha Kumbh Mela in 2026-2028. Waje submitted a memorandum requesting an immigration checkpoint and a major airport expansion to handle the expected influx of devotees. The proposed expansion includes constructing a new terminal building with seating for 1,000 passengers, developing new taxiways, and increasing the number of aircraft parking bays. Waje also called for the construction of separate helipads at the airport, in Nashik city, and in Trimbakeshwar to manage the massive crowd. Naidu has assured Waje that he would look into these requests. Additionally, Waje proposed that the airport be named after Yashwantrao Chavan, Maharashtra's first chief minister who was instrumental in bringing the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) unit to Nashik. Currently, the Nashik-Delhi flight has been reduced from daily to four days a week. This service should be made daily again. The airport, a joint venture between the state government and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), was developed between 2013 and 2014 at a cost of Rs 94 crore. The current terminal can only accommodate 300 passengers at a time. With the footfall expected to reach 1,000 passengers per hour during the Kumbh Mela, HAL has submitted a proposal to state govt for a much-needed upgrade. However, a decision on the development plan is still pending.

Ahmedabad: Lend an ear to the walls of Ahmedabad in the heart of the city, and chances are you might hear centuries of history. The walls and gates spanning 11km, which gave Ahmedabad India's first Unesco World Heritage City tag, saw the Gujarat Sultanate, Mughals, Marathas and British before the emergence of independent India and the city's development as a major economic hub of the country. Patna Museum opens for visitors with new galleries
Patna: The gates of the Patna Museum were thrown open for visitors, offering new hi-tech features and immersive exhibits that provide a virtual tour through the rich culture of Bihar and its glorious past. The extended facility of the museum includes two galleries, Patli and Ganga, which narrate the story of the emergence of Patliputra and showcase the evolution of civilisation on the banks of the Ganga, respectively. On the first day, 72 visitors toured the museum and the new sculpture garden. Patna Museum's deputy director Sunil Kumar Jha said the visitors' response was excellent and they were happy with the new facility and galleries. "We are positive that the footfall will increase in the coming days. The other reason for low footfall is the upcoming third edition of the Bihar Museum Biennale, which will start on August 7 and continue till December 31," he said, adding that a large number of people will participate in the heritage walk on Wednesday, which will begin from Patna Museum and conclude at Bihar Museum. The museum offers modern amenities including a cafeteria, 2D auditorium, temporary exhibition area, administrative offices, conservation laboratory, contemporary artefact storage and a VIP lounge.
