Rodgers reveals further Celtic transfer plans amid Yamada verdict
Rodgers spoke on Yamada after his side defeated Portuguese champions Sporting CP 2-0 in a friendly this evening: "He'll have a medical over the next couple of days and we'll have a look at him," he said [RecordSport].
"We've lost a lot of goals so we need to replace that. Hopefully this can be one of a number of players we can bring in that aspect.

"He's got intensity and work rate. It's something the scouts have seen.
"In terms of the club, we will bring in players to develop and players for now. Even though he's a bit older, he's probably one of those that can give us that intensity and pressure.
"I need to look and see him when he comes in, and hopefully he can do well. The idea was to bring him in and assess him.
"He's a strong boy – but we'd want to add to our front line also."
Rodgers also quashed talk of a potential Celtic return for Odsonne Edouard this evening: "I'm not worried so much about a big name," he said. "It's about the collective of the team.
"Big names don't always give you want you need. This team needs hunger, goals and work rate and intensity.
"Big names don't always give you that. It's about big players.
"I just want players who are hungry to learn but also ready now. There are lots of players linked with us.
"Odsonne hasn't been on my radar, to be fair. I obviously know him, but it's about a player who will fit into the structure of the team."

Red Bull ‘to TERMINATE Tsunoda's contract and considering Brit sensation, 17, to be Verstappen's next team-mate'
The teenage Brit was born and raised in Surrey RED ALERT Red Bull 'to TERMINATE Tsunoda's contract and considering Brit sensation, 17, to be Verstappen's next team-mate' Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) YUKI TSUNODA is reportedly heading for Red Bull's ever revolving exit door with Max Verstappen set to get a new team-mate for the 2026 season. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 5 Red Bull will reportedly terminate Yuki Tsunoda's contract next season 5 Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko is back in charge of driver line-ups after Christian Horner's sacking Tsunoda is set to be a victim of a full circle moment after he brutally replaced Liam Lawson to partner Verstappen just two races into the current season in March. The rumour mill said it was former team principal Christian Horner, who was sacked after 20 years this month, who wanted Lawson out so quickly in March. But it seems Red Bull will keep to the same replacement scheme without Horner at the helm, with Tsunoda, 25, next in line for the chop. Ever since Daniel Ricciardo left Red Bull at the end of 2018, drivers have rarely lasted more than a season with the team, with the team's upgrade and championship focus always on Verstappen. READ MORE F1 NEWS OH CHRIST! Horner could make shock return to F1 with Red Bull's rivals after brutal sacking Tsunoda's has endured a miserable season, scoring scrappy points on just three Grand Prix weekends, contributing just seven of the teams 172 total at the halfway point in the campaign. According to a GPblog report, the decision has already been made to terminate Tsunoda's contract at the end of the season, although he will remain in place until then. The Japanese star sits 17th in the drivers standings, is the lowest ranked non-rookie and has gone five rounds without scoring a single point. Tsunoda's qualifying results have disappointed in particular, after he escaped a near-death crash in Q1 at Imola, before managing P12 in Monaco, P20 in Spain, P11 in Canada, P18 in Austria and P12 at Silverstone. Glamorous TikToker Bianca Bustamante gives behind-the-scenes look at a Formula E race week One option is going back to Lawson, who has picked himself back up after being removed from his Red Bull seat, sitting above Tsunoda in the drivers standings. But Marko, 82, is reportedly pushing for a new face and wants to promote 20-year-old rookie Isack Hadjar from Racing Bulls next season. Hadjar entered this season as something of a wildcard after his seat came about after the late decision to sack Sergio Perez caused an opening at Racing Bulls. But the decision to call him up now looks like a masterstroke, as the French-Algerian youngster sits just outside the top 10 in the drivers standings - with one fewer point than Lawson and Tsunoda COMBINED. 5 Racing Bulls star Isack Hadjar is the favourite to replace Tsunoda 5 British F2 driver Arvid Lindblad is also being considered for the second Red Bull seat But teenage Brit Arvid Lindblad is also being considered to step up from Formula Two after completing his first free practice session at the British Grand Prix on July 6. The 17-year-old has also been undergoing extensive TPC outings behind the scenes as he prepares to follow in Kimi Antonelli's footsteps, speedily climbing up the feeder series ladder. Lindblad was born in 2007 and raised in Surrey to his Swedish motorcross racing father and Indian mother. Meanwhile, Tsunoda will be the latest in a long line of Red Bull second-seat victims, following in the footsteps of Pierre Gasly, Alex Albon, Sergio Perez and Lawson. The F1 season gets back underway in Belgium on July 27, with Verstappen allegedly already having met up with Mercedes chief Toto Wolff while on holiday in Sardinia.

Daizen Maeda in transfer hint amid Brentford swirl as Celtic face £6m price drop with three deals required
The Hoops' hero is attracting interest from across Europe this summer Brentford are reportedly among the clubs chasing Daizen Maeda this summer - but the striker has hinted his focus is on Celtic. The 27-year-old was the standout performer for the Scottish Premiership champions last season netting 33 goals as Brendan Rodgers' claimed a domestic double. That has seen the likes of Tottenham, Fenerbahce and West Ham touted with a move for the forward - and reports in Japan suggest The Bees' have joined the race. Reports in Turkey stating Jose Mourinho's men were told stump up £21million for the star by Celtic - and that valuation is unlikely to have moved since. But Maeda has already hinted this summer that he is in no rush to leave - and he has now talked up his Parkhead teammates in the latest clue he is focussed on life in Glasgow's east end. The forward told KICK OFF! KANSAI: "There is one year left until the North-Central America World Cup: I want to make connections with Japanese national team players special. "Like at Celtic, there were many scenes where I thought my teammate was coming but my timing with the passer was in sync. After three and a half years, my teammates understand me." In terms of incoming players, Red Star Belgrade defender Veljko Milosavljevic is also said to be on the agenda - with Mozzart Sport claiming that the Serbian side are ready to drop their asking price. It was claimed earlier this summer that Celtic representatives "offered" £5.1million for the 17-year-old, which was rejected. It is now stated that while Red Star hope to receive €10million (£8.6million) for the player they could sell for €7million (£6million) with interest from earlier in the window cooling. And while a new centre-back appears to be on the agenda, Gordon Strachan insists that a winger, striker and another midfielder are required by Rodgers this summer. He told OLBG: 'Celtic have had wide attackers rather than wingers. People can score goals, get in the box, make goals, rather than just a winger who can cross the ball and things like that. So I think that's where they'll be going. 'Do they need another striker? Yes I think they do. They'll be looking at that as well. They'll be looking at a midfield player similar to Reo Hatate who can eliminate people in midfield. 'In the modern game, because the defenders are good, when people get back into zonal areas or go man for man, the fact is that you need somebody to eliminate people. 'Hatate could do that and so could Matt O'Riley. Matt O'Riley has been gone a year but they still need somebody who can do that as well.' The comments come with the Hoops' on the lookout for a successor to Nicolas Kuhn - who has admitted he would love to play against his former club Celtic next week and introduce himself to Como in style. The German winger completed a £17million move to the big-spending Serie A side last week and will be an important part of Cesc Fabregas' team. One of his first matches could even be against the former club in pre-season as the Parkhead side prepare to jet into Italy for the Como Cup tournament. Celtic face Ajax and Como entertain Al Ahli and there's a chance Kuhn could face his old teammates in either the final or the third and fourth place play-off. And he would relish coming up against his former colleagues, having also played for Ajax too. He said: "I'll definitely play against one of my former teams because we will play either Celtic or Ajax. "If we could play against Celtic, I would be really excited to face all my teammates from last season. "I can't wait to play in the tournament. My beginnings at Como have gone really well. I like the Italian atmosphere and the team is fantastic, everyone is helping me settle in and I'm really happy to be here. "The training centre is fantastic, the quality is high, and so far everything has been perfect. I think we have a lot of very good players in the squad." Celtic target Louis Munteanu has broken his silence on rumours of a potential departure from Europa League outfit CFR Cluj this summer, following reports that the Scottish champions had launched bid for the striker earlier this week. The Romanian international has also been linked with Ligue 1 sides Lille and Nice in recent weeks after scoring 23-goals in the SuperLiga last year, though it is claimed to be Celtic that have made the first move, with the player subject of a reported £7million bid from Brendan Rodgers' side. Celtic are keen to add to their attacking options this summer and are set to land Shin Yamada from Kawasaki Frontale in the coming days. Brendan Rodgers is looking to add to his attacking options ahead of the season opener vs St Mirren. | Getty Images 'I'm glad I came back in style,' said Munteanu. 'I'm glad for the team's victory. That we didn't concede a goal, just like Mister [head coach Dan Petrescu] likes. It was clear in the first half that they had quality, but they weren't above us, we had to qualify, we were the better team, now we have another very difficult match.' Celtic will step up their pre-season preparations with a visit from English Premier League giants Newcastle United this weekend, with home fans set to get their first glimpse of new signings Benjamin Nygren, Callum Osmand, Kieran Tierney and Ross Doohan, while a £1.5million deal to sign Yamada is also close. However, despite the impending addition of Yamada, it is understood that Rodgers is keen to add further competition for both Adam Idah and Daizen Maeda this summer as he looks to 'freshen up' his squad ahead of their attempts to win a fifth successive - and record 56th - Scottish Premiership title. Reports in the player's homeland claim that a move to Glasgow for Munteanu is a possibility, though Celtic are said to have been told improve their £7million offer, with club chairman Ioan Varga believed to want almost double for the prolific striker.
