THE CHIC LIST: Why I'm saying bravo to the Emily In Paris star who refuses to let online trolls body-shame her

Daily Mail26-07-2025
One of my favourite fashion moments so far this summer has been Emily In Paris star Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, 62 (below), attending the recent Schiaparelli haute couture show in Paris dressed in a killer outfit that showed off her legs to perfection. Predictably (and rather depressingly) this immediately divided the internet and sent the comment sections into overdrive.
Those disapproving of her sexy, feminine look didn't hold back. 'She's a beautiful woman, I agree, but I think she shouldn't show her knees,' said one commenter. 'Wearing clothes would make it better,' remarked another. A particularly unkind commenter said: 'Face is filled with plastic. The knees are not (laughing emoji).' And, wagging a virtual finger, came this dig: 'That dress is not for a woman of her age.'
Remarkably, the harshest critics of the French actress, who plays lady boss Sylvie Grateau in Netflix's hit show, were women. Why anyone would think it's OK to publicly criticise her looks is astonishing to me. What happened to body positivity? Celebrating our figures and femininity at any age is surely a good thing. I say bravo to Leroy-Beaulieu, who is determined to be admired and seen in her 60s.
Meanwhile, if you're looking for style inspo to get people talking, the skirt has been a big hit this summer, outshining the dress with its versatility. It is a piece that is set to rule autumn, too – and, even better, it's not just minis that are in…
★ The pencil skirt was central to designer Sarah Burton's debut at Givenchy, where she showed off her immaculate tailoring skills. Styling this corporate favourite isn't as difficult as you may think: either pair it with the contrasting silhouette of a loose oversized blazer or lean into the neat, polished look with a silky pussy-bow blouse.
★ Knee-length A-line skirts were also key at Gucci and Prada for autumn – worn casually with an oversized cardigan and long necklace. The length of choice at Miu Miu was also the knee, with styles including a lace slip. 'We really wanted to create an elegance through direct manipulations of simple pieces,' said the brand's creative director Miuccia Prada of the hero piece.

Brit actress Keira Knightley's support for Chanel is as strong as ever. At its recent haute couture show in Paris, she was one of the VIP guests and looked elegant in a black-and-white tiered dress. Then a week later at the men's final at Wimbledon (right), she sat in the royal box wearing Chanel glasses and carried a bag from its new resort collection.

Stacey Dooley models a necklace inspired by infant daughter Minnie's name as she leaves the Zoe Ball radio show with boyfriend Kevin Clifton

Stacey Dooley ensured her daughter wasn't too far from her thoughts on Sunday as she left Zoe Ball 's radio show with boyfriend Kevin Clifton on Sunday. The couple - who have been dating since early 2019 - welcomed a daughter named Minnie together back in January 2023. And Stacey, 35, was seen wearing a bubbly font necklace which had her two-year-old daughter's name on it during their latest appearance in London. She looked super fashionable in a white top and camo trousers, adding a huge tote bag and glasses to finish off her daytime look. The mum-of-one scraped her locks into an elegant bun and was seen wearing a massive smile as they walked through the city together. Meanwhile, former Strictly Come Dancing star Kevin, 42, looked smart in a blue polo shirt and jeans as he carried a suitcase and bag beside his girlfriend. Back in May, Stacey revealed she took her baby daughter to a brothel in Nevada, while she was filming a documentary about prostitution in the United States. In the latest series of Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over USA, the presenter visited the oldest legal brothel in Nevada, the Mustang Ranch, to explore the lives of sex workers in the States. But she has now revealed that her daughter came along for the visit, when she was just eight-months-old, joking 'it sounds like a comedy sketch'. Stacey recalled the story at the Hay Literary Festival in Wales, during a panel with journalist Emma Barnett, where she discussed how she juggled balancing motherhood and work. The broadcaster explained that she brings her little girl along with her for filming - including to the more unusual locations. According to The Telegraph, she admitted: 'There's nowhere that child hasn't been. When she was eight months we had this gig in the diary to go to the States to make a documentary about this legal brothel in Nevada. 'I'd sort of signed the contract and was like: "oh, she'll be eight months, that'll be fine." 'Anyway, the trip comes, and I'm nowhere near comfortable leaving her so I take my eight-month-old child to this brothel in Nevada. 'I have to ask the sheriff for special permission, because she's under 18. It sounds like a comedy sketch, but it's legit!' Stacey explained that she had to rent a trailer for Minnie to stay in with dad Kevin and that the little girl would watch out the window while she was filming. She hilariously recalled that when she returned to the trailer to breastfeed, the prostitutes at the brothel would greet her daughter with: 'Morning Miss Minnie!' The presenter quipped: 'I'm like: she'll be open minded if nothing else!'

The reason why Oasis fans who splashed out on £85 merchandise could be sitting on a GOLDMINE

Every year, one fashion brand manages to grab the attention of the nation and become the summer's must have look. This year, the winner is perhaps a surprise. Fresh off the phenomenal success of their reunion tour, Oasis' Liam and Noel Gallagher have turned their hand to fast fashion through a collaboration with Adidas which has proved almost as popular as their sell out shows. The new Adidas range is inspired by styles that Oasis wore in the Nineties and features everything from the iconic three-stripe T-shirts to matching tracksuits and jackets. Upon release the collection sold out almost immediately with particular interest being directed towards the twin £85 football shirts. Indeed, if you were in Manchester last week, you would be hard-pressed to find anyone wearing anything else. In photos taken at gigs and in the pubs and clubs of Cardiff, it is not uncommon to see multiple beer-soaked punters with the number 25 emblazoned on their back in tribute to the Gallagher's historic come back. The shirts, made from Adidas' 'Jacquard jersey' - a well known high quality fabric, are touted as a 'world tour essential that you'll keep coming back to', which 'helps keep you comfortable all day long'. And people certainly seem to believe it, they are now rarer than Prada - such is the phenomenal demand. This is no doubt music to the Gallagher's ears, who are both set to millions through the deal. But as with all fashion, there runs the risk that these pricey purchases are just a fad destined to fade with the time. When MailOnline donned the range on a night-out in London, reaction to the costume was mixed. As our reporters entered the Admiral Duncan, a well known LGBT pub in Soho, there was a cry of 'full kit w*****' from an unknown fashionista on the street. Once inside, the reaction was more muted with some punters saying they liked the kit and others saying it was giving 'sexy chav.' Many people we spoke to questioned the value of the football shirts, which at £85 are priced higher than some premier league football teams options. 'Oasis are like a football team I suppose', proffered our reporter Jack when asked if he had ever been to a football game, 'but no I haven't and I haven't seen them live either.' Overall the consensus was that it was ironically unoriginal to be wearing the Adidas original range considering how omnipresent it had suddenly become in street culture. But is a savvy investment? The fashion experts seem to think so. Stylist Rochelle White, told us: 'The Oasis and Adidas collaboration has captured attention that I feel that many didn't expect, would be so popular. The range has sold out almost instantly and the standout pieces are the £85 football shirts, which I feel blend 90s nostalgia with a fresh, streetwear culture driven trend. 'I believe it's not just a nod to Oasis's legacy, but a clever reworking of the vintage football aesthetic that's currently having a major revival across menswear and youth culture. 'It is blending nostalgic Britpop culture that taps into a growing appetite for items that combine music heritage with iconic sportswear branding. 'I feel what makes this collaboration particularly popular and a must have, is the rarity and potential long-term value it will provide. Consumers love a Limited-edition, there is something about and creates a must have attitude. It often gains cult status and becomes increasingly scarce, so resale values can no doubt soar well above original price. 'Drops like this often grow in value over time, not just financially, but in terms of cultural currency. The scarcity of the collaboration, combined with its connection to the band and an iconic sportswear brand, means these shirts could become collectors' items. 'We've seen similar patterns with other brands such as Supreme's collaborations with The North Face and similar trends have been observed with previous collaborations, which include Adidas's link-ups with Kanye West's Yeezy line or Palace Skateboards, where in some cases scarcity, brand legacy and cultural resonance have driven demand in secondary markets which fuels long-term demand.' Fashion trendist Louise Duncan agreed, telling us: 'What makes this collection so powerful is the emotional connection. Oasis are a quintessentially British band, with a legacy that spans generations. 'Their recent comeback tour sold out instantly, so it's no coincidence that the football shirts flew off the shelves just as fast. 'They represent more than fashion, they are a symbol of identity, memory, and belonging. 'Adidas is the perfect partner in this, with a heritage rooted in music, football and British streetwear. For many fans, these pieces aren't even worn, they're framed as memorabilia and hung on walls like treasured artwork. 'That rarity, combined with the cultural relevance of both the band and brand, is what gives these shirts their long term value. We're not just seeing a Summer trend, we're witnessing the making of a modern collectable, that is bound to increase in value over time.'

Where all the forgotten Love Island finalists are now after they failed to cling onto fame and fortune after ITV2 show

WHILST reaching the Love Island final might seem like a golden ticket to fame and fortune and an endless career in the spotlight, things don't always go quite to plan for the Islanders. Despite most of the show's finalists going on to enjoy successful careers, including some as A-listers and multi-millionaires, for an unlucky few, they plunged back into obscurity just months after their time in the spotlight. 8 8 Whilst many dream of the seven-figure deals that roll in for icons including Molly-Mae Hague, Ekin-Su and Maura Higgins - a handful of Islanders haven't been so fortunate. As another four couples head into this Monday's Love Island final, will they be set for life or will one or two of them fall victim to the curse of disappearing from relevancy like these stars. The Sun has compiled a list of the famous finalists who failed to strike it big and make an impact after their summer of love in the spotlight. Paul Knops 8 Hunky model Paul was already well on the way to making a name for himself after becoming one of the world's most in-demand male models. He was even chosen to be Britney Spears ' love interest for her racy 2016 music video, Make Me..., which saw him getting hot and heavy with the star. So when Paul strutted into the Love Island villa as a late entrant in 2018, it seemed like a no-brainer that he was on track to become a top star. Paul coupled up with fan favourite Laura Anderson after her split from Wes Nelson. Dani Dyer and Jack Fincham. But the pair quickly split up after Majorca and whilst Laura remained in the headlines and on TV screens, Paul's star faded just as quick as his time in the villa. Whilst his looks haven't faded, it seems the handsome fella prefers living a quieter life away from the hustle and bustle of influencer life. Love Island exes Laura Anderson and Paul Knops agree to move on in Christmas Reunion heart-to-heart Paul still models and his Instagram shows him picture perfect at all times with his new long-haired locks. Lana Jenkins 8 When blonde stunner Lana was revealed to be an Islander on series nine of the show in 2023, she seemed like a ready made celebrity. She quickly found herself besotted with partner Ron Hall and they managed to make it all the way to second place in the villa. But despite Lana aligning herself with the same team behind Olivia Attwood, she failed to make a dent in the entertainment industry after her time on the show. Despite the expectation of big brand deals, Lana's commercial work was limited and it wasn't long until her romance with co-star Ron also crumbled at the same time her career stalled. Although she failed to hit the big time, Lana still boasts 500,000 fans on Instagram and shows off glam snaps from her plush travels around the world. She also runs her own home Instagram account to show off her passion for interior design. Josh Oyinsan 8 Despite only winning the show last summer alongside then-partner, Mimii Ngulube, Josh struggled to translate his win into a long-lasting media career. When Josh and Mimii quickly split following their win, interest in the couple wavered and Josh failed to land any major gigs despite being crowned a champion. Whilst Josh has managed to land a number of paid partnerships on Instagram after the show, it pales in comparison to some of the brand deals landed by his counterparts. His passion for wellness and advocating for the mental health of young athletes has been commendable however and earned him a legion of support. Ched Uzor 8 Series six Islander Ched was another star whose place in the final did not guarantee a lengthy career afterwards. He found himself in a relationship with Jess Gale and the loveable pair managed to make it to fourth place on the programme. But their love did not prevail and they called it quits shortly after the show. Ched then found his own career disrupted by the Covid pandemic and he failed to land any big-money gigs. However, despite turning his back on fame, Ched has managed to carve out an online fitness business. Known for his impressive figure and muscly body, Ched has put this to use by helping his followers get in shape and achieve a dream body like his. Titled Shred with Ched, he has launched the app to become an instant personal trainer to people up and down the country. Some of the services that Ched offers includes one-to-one coaching as well as personally curated nutrition and workout plans for each client. Tanya Manhenga 8 Like her co-star Lana, Tanya hoped that her time on series nine of Love Island would turn her into a money-spinning star. However, the reality was very different. After finishing in fourth place with then-boyfriend, Shaq Muhammad, Tanya struggled to replicate the success of the ladies who came before her after failing to couple up with a big-money fashion brand. These days, Tanya is living a single life after splitting with Shaq and enjoys a jet-setting lifestyle. Helping her travelling habit is her latest venture titled Grooves with TT. It is Tanya's own touring club night featuring exclusively Amapiano music. The star held her first club night in Manchester earlier this year with plans for an event in London next month before taking it across Europe. She also kept her post-villa income topped up with her own wig business, called Tay Slay Wigs. Lauren Richardson 8 Lauren managed to make it all the way to the final of Love Island back in 2015. Despite being coupled up with Josh Ritchie, that didn't help her when it came to securing a top career. Whilst Josh has been a TV regular and shot to even greater fame thanks to his romance with Charlotte Crosby, Lauren quickly faded into obscurity. Heavily tattooed Lauren is worlds away from the typical Islander, with her Instagram feed showing a much more demure and laid-back life in comparison to the glitz and glam of the usual crop of ITV2 stars. Lauren hasn't updated her feed since 2021 and chooses to keep her life out of the spotlight.
