Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na was offered to me first, recalls Neil Nitin Mukesh: ‘I got Johnny Gaddaar and this, was told to choose one'
Neil Nitin Mukesh comes from a film family but unlike many of his peers, he did not get a starry launch in the movies. Instead, Neil made his debut in Sriram Raghavan's Johnny Gaddaar where Neil did not play a traditional hero. In a recent interview, Neil shared that at the time, he was also offered Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, which was a quintessential college romance film, and he was given the option of choosing either one of these movies as his debut vehicle.
In a chat with Just Too Filmy, Neil shared that he 'was offered two films on the same day' by producer Jhamu Sughand. 'One was Johnny Gaddaar and the other was Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, which was Imran Khan's debut,' he said. Neil recalled that Jhamu gave him scripts for both these films and asked him to read them both. 'I loved Jaane Tu… It was a love story, and that was the trend,' he said and recalled that at this time, he was often told that he looked like a 'chocolate boy' and Neil did not enjoy this tag. 'This annoyed me and I also thought to myself, 'Is that how I look?' he wondered.
Neil Nitin Mukesh said that when he met Jhamu Sughand at a party, he got an invitation to his office. Upon landing there, Jhamu told him that he would be able to take up only one of the two films being offered, and he will have to audition for both. At this time, Neil decided to take a step back as he wondered that actors like Ranbir Kapoor and Harman Baweja were going to get launched with films like Saawariya and Love Story 2050, and he had to wonder if his launch film would hold against these big budget films. Nevertheless, Neil auditioned for both but his 'gut instinct' told him to choose Johnny Gaddaar.

'Jaane Tu… was destined for Imran. It was an honour that I even got to read the film,' he said and added, 'I will never say that I rejected Jaane Tu… I didn't have the honour of working on that film. If I had the privilege of working on both, I'd eat both of them and give my 100 percent but unfortunately for me, I couldn't work on Jaane Tu.'
In the same chat, Neil shared that even though he is the son of illustrious singer Nitin Mukesh, and the grandson of singer Mukesh, he was told at a very young age that he won't get a starry launch. 'At 13, my father told me that I have a daughter and I have to get her married. I also have a younger son who is ten years younger, I have to get him educated. Don't ever think that I can even put Rs 5 in making a film for you. I was 13 and I panicked. I didn't sleep that night,' he said.
Neil Nitin Mukesh has been in the movies since 2007. He was last seen in the Zee5 film Hisaab Barabar, and will next be seen in the web series Hai Junoon.

Box Office: Housefull 5 set to be widest Akshay Kumar release of all time; To arrive on 5000 screens in India
The much-awaited Housefull 5 is set to hit theaters with a bang, securing the widest release ever for a film in the popular comedy franchise. The movie will release in 5000 screens across India. This grand release puts Housefull 5 in a league of its own, even with strong competition like Mani Ratnam's Thug Life hitting theaters around the same time. Despite the clash, Housefull 5 has managed to lock in its impressive screen count. All that now matters is positive word of mouth and then it will be good to go. With a whopping budget of Rs 225 crore (excluding print and advertising costs), Housefull 5 is one of the biggest investments in the franchise yet. The good news for producers is that roughly Rs 135 crore has already been recovered through non-theatrical earnings like satellite rights, digital streaming, and music deals. This gives the film a solid financial cushion. However, to be declared a hit, Housefull 5 needs to aim high at the box office. The worldwide collection of Rs 325 crore or more is required to cover costs and deliver profits. With such a massive screen count, the stage is set for the film to draw huge crowds. What makes Housefull 5 even more exciting is the producers' bold experiment with its release. For the first time, the film will have two different versions, each featuring a different killer in its murder-mystery plot. This unique move has sparked curiosity among fans, adding a layer of intrigue to the already chaotic and fun Housefull universe. Directed by Tarun Mansukhani, Housefull 5 boasts a stellar cast, including Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, and more. The franchise has always been a crowd-pleaser, blending slapstick humor with over-the-top drama. This time, the stakes are higher with a bigger budget and a wider release. The 5000-screen rollout ensures the film reaches every corner of India, from metros to smaller towns. The makers are banking on the franchise's loyal fanbase and the festive season to drive footfalls. While Thug Life poses a challenge, Housefull 5 has carved out its space. The massive screen count shows the confidence distributors have in the film. If the comedy clicks and the dual-version gimmick pays off, Housefull 5 could set new benchmarks for the franchise. All eyes are now on the audience. Will they flock to theaters for this laughter-packed ride? Only time will tell, but the stage is set. Have you booked your tickets for Housefull 5 yet?

After Deepika Padukone, Pankaj Tripathi now demands 8-hour shift, reveals practising to say ‘No': ‘16-18 ghanta ho gaya…'
Deepika Padukone has unknowingly started a movement in the industry, and now every actor is directly or indirectly standing by her. The actress stepped out of Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Spirit after he refused to agree to her 8-hour shift demand. After Ajay Devgn and Mani Ratnam supported her, Pankaj Tripathi has now spoken about practising the art of saying no on set. He spoke about every person knowing their limits and that he cannot keep working for 16-18 hours at a stretch. Talking to Anupama Chopra in The Hollywood Reporter interview, Pankaj Tripathi expressed that he always faces difficulty in saying 'No'. But, the Stree 2 actor also said that he is practising this art now. Talking about extended hours on the set, the actor stated that every individual should know their boundary after which they should politely say 'no'. He opened up about days when his work hours kept extending. Pankaj Tripathi seemed annoyed when he spoke about the times his work hours stretched for 16 to 18 hours on the set. 'Main bol bhi raha hu ki actor ja chuka hai labour ruka hua hai,' quipped the Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl star. Tripathi further stated that now he has decided to politely start refusing to stretch his hours by saying that he cannot cross his boundary. With folded hands in the interview, he said that now he will also tell the directors that whatever is left will be done the next day. For the unversed, Deepika Padukone recently stepped out of Sandeep Reddy Vanga 's Spirit opposite Prabhas over the same issue. She demanded an 8-hour work shift and Rs 40 crore remuneration, which was both rejected by the Animal filmmaker. This led to their fallout and the actress being replaced by Triptii Dimri in the film. On the work front, Pankaj Tripathi's latest OTT show, Criminal Justice Season 4, was released. The show has only 3 episodes left, which have left fans agitated. Apart from this, certain reports of him replacing Paresh Rawal in Hera Pheri 3 started doing the rounds after an AI image of him as Baburao spread on the internet. But nothing of this sort has been confirmed yet.
