Bhoo Bharati Act – 2025 Rolled Out to Address Land Issues, Says Collector Santhosh
Participating as the chief guest at an awareness conference on the Bhoo Bharati Act – 2025 organized at the Rythu Vedika in Rajoli mandal on Monday, the Collector explained the provisions of the newly introduced Act to the farmers.
Speaking on the occasion, District Collector B.M. Santhosh stated that the Bhoo Bharati Act will offer a concrete solution to the land issues faced by farmers, urging every farmer to become well-informed about the new law. He emphasized that the Act had been designed to address and rectify the challenges posed by the earlier Dharani system by incorporating comprehensive measures.
He further noted that after in-depth study and consultations with experts and officials, the government launched this new law on the occasion of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's birth anniversary.
The new Act will expedite services such as land transactions, registrations, mutations, regularization of assigned lands, resolution of issues arising from informal (Sada Bainama) agreements, border disputes, and inheritance changes, he explained.
Highlighting the importance of transparency and quick grievance redressal, the Collector mentioned that a robust appeal mechanism is part of the Act, wherein farmers can first appeal to the RDO (Revenue Divisional Officer) and, if necessary, to the District Collector against orders issued by Tahsildars.
One of the key innovations introduced under the Act is the Bhoodar Card, akin to the Aadhaar card, which will be issued to every landholder.
He also informed that in case of land purchases, partition of property, or inheritance transfers, survey sketches prepared by authorized surveyors must be annexed, thereby minimizing future land disputes. Additionally, detailed land maps will be attached to Pattadar Passbooks to maintain clarity of ownership and boundaries.
During inheritance proceedings (virasat), notices will be mandatorily issued to all concerned family members to avoid conflicts.
Further, the Collector assured that farmers will now be able to rectify errors in their land records locally without the need for prolonged processes. Revenue conferences will be held in each village to address and resolve land-related issues on the ground.
The Collector urged farmers to take full advantage of the Bhoo Bharati Act, which the government has introduced as a comprehensive and permanent solution to their land concerns.
After his address, the Collector patiently answered various queries and cleared doubts raised by the farmers.
The event witnessed participation from Additional Collector Lakshmi Narayana, Library Corporation Chairman Neeli Srinivasulu, Alampur Market Yard Chairman Dodappa, Rajoli Tahsildar Ram Mohan, Market Yard Vice-Chairman Kumar, MPDO Khaja Mohinuddin, Mandal Agriculture Officer Surekha, along with officials from various departments and a large number of farmers.

Majithia's counsel told reporters that this was the sixth time the court had deferred his client's bail plea. He alleged that the Punjab government was deliberately delaying the matter and had failed to substantiate its claims. On June 25, Majithia was arrested by the Vigilance Bureau at his residence in Amritsar in connection with the disproportionate assets case. He is currently lodged in Nabha Jail. The disproportionate assets case against Majithia stems from an ongoing investigation by a special investigation team (SIT) of the Punjab Police, which is also probing his alleged involvement in the 2021 drug case. Majithia had earlier been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, based on a 2018 report submitted by the state's Anti-Drug Special Task Force (STF). He spent over five months in Patiala Jail before being granted bail by the Punjab and Haryana high court in August 2022.

Lok Sabha passes Mines and Minerals Amendment Bill by voice vote
New Delhi, Aug 12 (UNI) The Lok Sabha today passed the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2025 by voice vote. The Bill aims to ensure the benefits of the mining sector reach the common people, introduce transparency in the allocation of mines and promote development in the sector. While presenting the bill in the Lok Sabha, Union Minister for Coal and Mines, G Kishan Reddy, said the proposed amendments aim to boost employment opportunities and ensure that tribals and those linked to the mining sector directly benefit from the reforms. He pointed out that prior to the Modi government, mine allocations were done with minimal oversight, allowing mafia groups to dominate the sector. This led to the Supreme Court cancelling 104 mine allocations due to corruption. He emphasised that the scenario has now significantly improved. Reddy also mentioned that the mining sector was once controlled by politically influential individuals and marred by exploitation. In contrast, he said, the current environment fosters development, with common citizens now seeing real benefits. Taking a dig at the Opposition members who were protesting the bill, he said that their opposition stems from a lack of faith in the people. Earlier, during the debate, BJP MP Malavika Devi highlighted that mine allocations were previously handled in an unethical manner, but reforms have changed that. She said the bill would help uplift the poor and improve the nation's global standing by ensuring transparency in mining. BJP's Brijmohan Agrawal called the legislation a key step towards the development of tribal regions, stating that it would benefit marginalized communities. Monsoon session: Speaker forms panel to inquire into grounds for Justice Varma's removal
NEW DELHI: Acting on a multi-party notice to begin the process of removal of Allahabad HC judge Justice Yashwant Varma, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Tuesday constituted a three-member committee to "inquire into the grounds for request for removal" of Justice Varma, who is linked to the cash-at-home scandal. The committee comprises SC judge Justice Arvind Kumar; Madras HC CJ Manindra Mohan Srivastava; and senior advocate at Karnataka HC B V Acharya. The Speaker, however, did not specify a timeline for the committee to submit its report, limiting himself to saying that it would submit its report "at the earliest" and the motion (for removal) will remain pending until the report is received. Birla had received the notice of motion for removal of Justice Varma, signed by 146 LS members from both governing and opposition parties, on July 21. The signatories include BJP member Ravi Shankar Prasad and leader of opposition in the House Rahul Gandhi. In their notice, the MPs pointed to the adverse findings of CJ of Delhi HC D K Upadhyay and former CJI Sanjiv Khanna about recovery of cash and the attempts to erase evidence. Referring to the motion that proposes to present the matter to the President for the removal of Justice Varma, Birla read out its content that said an "unblemished character and financial/intellectual integrity are foundation of trust placed by the common man in judiciary". The motion shared the facts of the case that came out after independent probe of the circumstances related to recovery and removal of burnt cash from the official premises under possession of Justice Varma. It said the facts related to the case, which point towards corruption, merit proceedings and processes under Article 124 (read with Articles 217 and 218) of the Constitution of India. "Parliament must speak in one voice on this matter and send a clear message about its resolve for zero tolerance towards corruption in public life," it said. Birla said finding the motion in order, he accepted it and constituted the committee in accordance with sub-section 2 of Section 3 of Judges (Inquiry) Act, 1968.
