For Gillan Anderson, intimate scenes are never a joy

Hollywood actress Gillian Anderson has shared that intimate scenes are a tricky territory to walk through during the process of acting. For her, such scenes are "never a joy".
The 56-year-old actress shares an intimate scene in a tent with co-star Jason Isaacs in her new movie 'The Salt Path', reports 'Female First UK'.
The film is based on the true story of couple Raynor and Moth Winn who embark on an epic walk in the UK after a bad health diagnosis and homelessness.
As per 'Female First UK', the actress said that such things are part and parcel of acting. As she said, "That is something you just expect as an actor'.
The actress told 'The Sun', "That's part of what one does. I had an experience for many, many years working with the same actor every day. I've also done sex scenes on the very first day of working, which is never a joy at any time during filming. "So you're thrown stuff all the time and just show whatever you're given'.
'The X-Files' star added that it was straightforward to film the raunchy scenes with her "amenable" co-star Isaacs.
She said, "Jason makes it very easy. He's very amenable, he's very likeable. And certainly physically, we feel like we're the same language, certainly by the end. We feel like our journey is baked into us, and we feel like we're part of the same conversation'.
Gillian explained that she became desperate to play Raynor after reading her book of the same name and being "profoundly affected" by the story.
"I read the book and I couldn't speak for days. I was really profoundly affected by it. I think I might have threatened them with an inch of their lives to hire me', she added.

Manushi Chhillar, the celebrated Miss World 2017, opened up about her incredible journey from being crowned the titleholder to now serving as a judge on the iconic Miss World stage. Reflecting on her experiences, Manushi shared insights into how the pageant transformed her life and the meaningful role she now plays in shaping and inspiring the next generation of contestants. Reflecting on her journey, Chhillar said, 'Beauty with a purpose' is the soul of Miss World. And I remember, during my year I was a 20-year-old who had this vision. I had a project and I took it to the Miss World competition as a contestant. And I still remember Gem's words, 'Isn't it better to light one candle in the dark, than not to see at all?' So, all I have to say is that this, is the mission of Miss World. And as we see all these wonderful women on stage, they're not here just to be admired. They're here to ignite change.' The 'Samrat Prithviraj' actress took to Instagram to share glimpses of her experience while judging the show. For the caption, she wrote, 'From once being crowned to now judging the competition, honoured to return to the Miss World stage. It's tough being on either side but felt so nervous and excited for the contestants! Reminded me of my days An unforgettable night of beauty, purpose, and power. @missworld #MissWorld2025 #FullCircleMoment #BeautyWithAPurpose.' Manushi won the Miss World title in 2017. She represented Haryana in the Femina Miss India 2017 contest, where she earned the Femina Miss India World crown. Subsequently, she became the sixth Indian to claim the Miss World crown after a 17-year gap. Manushi made her acting debut portraying Sanyogita in the historical drama 'Samrat Prithviraj.' Since then, she has appeared in the comedy-drama 'The Great Indian Family' and the action drama 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan.' Meanwhile, Manushi shared a glimpse of herself working out hard and building muscles. Manushi took to Instagram to share two striking pictures. In the first, she took a mirror selfie while seated on her yoga mat, with dumbbells and resistance bands placed beside her. The second photo highlighted her impressive core strength, capturing her mid-plank with perfect form. 'Pretty little baby likes to build muscle... How long can you plank?' she wrote as the caption. On the professional front, Manushi is gearing up for an exciting year with two big films coming soon. First is 'Maalik,' a tough gangster drama where she stars opposite Rajkummar Rao. The movie shows Manushi in a completely new avatar. Directed by Pulkit and produced by Kumar Taurani and Jay Shewakramani, 'Maalik' is scheduled to release on June 20, 2025. 'X-Files' star Gillian Anderson to be feted at Munich Film Festival

The Munich International Film Festival will present Gillian Anderson with its honorary CineMerit Award during its upcoming edition, which runs from June 27 to July 6. Anderson will be handed the award during a ceremony at the Deutsches Theater, where the German premiere of her latest film, The Salt Path, will take place, reported Deadline. "Gillian Anderson's incredible versatility never ceases to amaze us: an FBI agent, a sex therapist, an Iron Lady," Munich festival directors Julia Weigl and Christoph Groner said in a statement. " The Salt Path, adapted from a best-selling novel, reveals a whole new side to her, which we will all get to explore at the Deutsches Theater. By honouring Gillian Anderson, we are saluting a person who embodies much more than an impressive career," the statement said. "She represents strong womanhood and smart decisions, and is a model of principles and integrity." Anderson's breakthrough came in the 1990s, when she took the role of FBI Agent Dana Scully in the television series The X-Files. From 2012 until 2015, she played Hannibal Lecter's psychiatrist on the NBC series Hannibal. She won numerous honours, including an Emmy and a Golden Globe, for her portrayal of Margaret Thatcher in The Crown in 2020. Her latest project, The Salt Path, is directed by Marianne Elliott from a screenplay by Rebecca Lenkiewicz. The film is a drama about a married couple who lose everything and defy fate by choosing to follow a difficult path. Alongside her acting career, Anderson is also an author, producer, and voice artist. She produced the television series The Fall, and narrated documentaries such as The Widowmaker. She was the first woman to direct and write an episode of The X-Files.
