Behind Soccer Mommy's cover of Pavement's 'Gold Soundz' for Like A Version
"I first discovered Pavement when I was in high school and that's when I really got into them," she said.
"Especially Slanted and Enchanted was my favourite album. I've just always really liked them, it's one of those bands that I got into in high school and just never grew out of.
"Particularly there's a little bit of a renaissance right now with them kind of touring again and doing stuff together so I think that's why it's fresh in the mind."
Soccer Mommy specifically chose 'Gold Soundz' because she felt it would sit nicely with her vocal style (it does!). She also found she didn't have to change too much with the song to fit it into the Soccer Mommy vibe.
"I just wanted it to be a little bit lighter and janglier," she said.
"And a little bit softer for me from the vocal point of view, because that's just how my voice is. I just wanted it to have a little bit more dreaminess, I guess."
Mission accomplished – this really is like a wonderful dream.

Thornhill cover Lady Gaga's 'Paparazzi' for Like A Version
Ever wanted to hear Lady Gaga's 'Paparazzi' with a face-melting breakdown? Thornhill has you covered. The Naarm/Melbourne band's big return to the Like A Version studio sees them taking the 2008 pop anthem deep into the pit, delivering a truly roaring take. "It was interesting to figure out where we wanted it to have a heavy moment," vocalist Jacob Charlton said. "But I think that came pretty naturally with some of the bridge work." Instead of making directly flipping the pop song into an "entirely heavy" cover, Thornhill let those immense breakdown riffs come organically. The end result is something we're ready to throw hands to in the pit. Check out more from Thornhill's return to the Like A Version studio below. But Hogan's wife Sky said that on the contrary Hogan was 'healing' and there was 'no need for panic'. 'No, he's definitely not in a coma! His heart is strong, and there was never any lack of oxygen or brain damage … none of those rumours are true,' she reportedly wrote on Instagram this month. 'He's been recovering from a major four-level Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion which is an intense surgery with a long and layered healing process. 'We've been in and out of the hospital to support that recovery. 'So truly, there's no need for the drama or panic some people try to stir up,' she added. 'He's healing, and we're taking it one day at a time with love, strength, and patience.' More to come …
