The actress, 55, appeared on Late Night with Seth Meyers on Monday, June 23, and was asked by the talk show host how it feels to watch her kids become actors in their own right. Thuman shares daughter Luna, 12, with ex Arpad Busson and daughter Maya Hawke, 26, and son Levon Hawke, 23, with ex Ethan Hawke.
'I was telling you backstage, I had a nice thing happen walking down the streets of New York. I ran into your daughter Maya in the street," Seth Meyers says. "And you have two children now who are just incredibly accomplished performers.'
'Well, I have three who are very accomplished,' Thurman clarifies. 'Two who work for it.'
'I very much apologize to the one who's not putting the work in,' Meyer jokes. 'She'll get there.'

The comedian went on to ask the Kill Bill star what it's like watching her two older kids — Maya and Levon — take the stage off-Broadway for the first time.
'As a mother, you know, honestly, I'm so proud of them and they're so together, and honestly, seeing your kids kind of surpass you is awesome,' Thurman says.
'I wouldn't say that they've surpassed you, but they're—,' Meyers says, getting cut off.
'No, but I just think they're amazing,' Thurman explains. 'I think they're so talented. And so you're always anxious that the circumstances all support the best outcome. The only thing that makes me nervous is I want them to have the best circumstances."
Maya recently made her off-Broadway debut and is currently starring in Eurydice, while Levon starred in Ghosts at the Lincoln Center Theatre, which wrapped this past April.
In October 2023, Thurman got candid about how her relationship with her daughter Maya has grown.
'What isn't a mother-daughter bond?' Thurman told PEOPLE at the time. 'Good communication. That is a big challenge, to make sure we keep communication healthy, strong and open with your family.'
The Stranger Things actress also cited her memories of her mother reading to her when she was a child as a key to her development.
'Being read to is so important for kids. I've now supplemented it with audiobooks in my adult life because it made such an impact on me,' Maya told PEOPLE.

‘Stranger Things' creators may be leaving Netflix

Netflix could soon lose the creative team behind one of its biggest hits. Earlier this week, Variety and other Hollywood publications reported that Matt and Ross Duffer, the brothers who created 'Stranger Things' (and wrote and directed many episodes), were in talks to sign an exclusive deal with Paramount (now under the ownership of David Ellison's Skydance). Then on Friday evening, Puck's Matthew Belloni posted that the Duffers had in fact 'made their choice' and were going to Paramount. The Duffer Brothers' ambition seems to have increased with each season of 'Stranger Things,' as episodes have grown longer, set pieces have become more spectacular, and the budget has grown accordingly, with a reported Season 4 cost of $30 million per episode. So it's not surprising that the Duffers are interested in making big-budget, tentpole movies next — an area where Netflix has struggled, in part due to its thorny relationship with the theatrical business, which co-CEO Ted Sarandos recently described as an 'outdated concept.' While Netflix does release some movies in theaters, it has resisted giving those releases a significant exclusive window before launching on streaming, which means Netflix movies usually aren't shown by the major chains. This was, apparently, a sticking point for 'Barbie' director Greta Gerwig, so the first of her 'Narnia' movies for Netflix will play exclusively on Imax screens for two weeks (or more) before going to streaming on Christmas Day 2026. And it seems this was also important to the Duffers, with Belloni reporting that the 'theatrical component' turned out to be the 'dealbreaker' in their negotiations. The brothers' absence will not be immediately noticeable on Netflix, which will be releasing the final season of 'Stranger Things' in three (!) parts later this year, and where the Duffers have two new shows scheduled to launch in 2026. Plus, the 'Stranger Things' empire is growing, with a prequel playing on Broadway, an animated series coming soon, and a live action spinoff reportedly in the works.

Stranger Things star explains decision to ‘drop off the map' after breakout role

Stranger Things star Dacre Montgomery has addressed his decision to retreat from the spotlight following his breakout role as the series' antagonist, Billy Hargrove. The 30-year-old Australian actor shot to fame for his portrayal of Billy, the abusive older stepbrother of Sadie Sink's Max Mayfield, in Netflix's hit sci-fi thriller. Introduced in season two, he appeared throughout season three before his character's death in the finale, later returning briefly in season four through flashbacks and visions. Since leaving the show in 2019, Montgomery has only starred in a few other projects, including Baz Luhrmann's Oscar-nominated Elvis Presley biopic, Elvis, and Dan Kay's new psychological thriller, Spider & Jessie. Explaining his noticeable absence from Hollywood in a new interview with The Australian, he said: 'I think things have changed. 'Traditional Hollywood stars existed because there was mystery,' he noted. 'Social media has done away with that. That's a large part of why I dropped off the map for the last five years.' Montgomery added: 'I'm not trying to compete with anyone else, I'm living my truth — and hopefully being able to pay the rent while I'm doing it.' Back in 2019, Montgomery spoke to The Independent about how he intended to take advantage of the exposure Stranger Things had given him, saying he was going to be 'really particular about what's next.' Revealing he had only done three auditions in the last two years, he said his next project was a romantic comedy called Broken Heart Gallery. 'I'm doing it for two reasons,' he said, 'One, comedy is a very different heartbeat to drama. It scares me, and I also feel like it's a good ego-stripping exercise — I can't take myself too seriously. I think that's an important next step.' He continued: 'On the flip side of that, I've been doing a podcast for over two years. It's kind of an amalgamation of beat poetry that I've been writing for a long time, and I collated into six distinct tracks. Eight months ago, I started approaching musicians around the world to help me compose scores that I could narrate my beat poetry too. We wrapped production about four days ago. That's been a very cathartic experience.' Stranger Things, created by the brothers Matt and Ross Duffer, has made stars of its young ensemble, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Finn Wolfhard, Caleb McLaughlin, and Noah Schnapp, who star as a group of school friends living in 1980s Indiana, where strange supernatural forces begin to interfere. The Emmy-winning series is expected to release its highly anticipated fifth and final season in three parts. Volume one, which will be comprised of four episodes, will be released November 26. Volume two, containing the next three episodes, will be released on Christmas Day. Then the finale, titled 'The Rightside Up,' will premiere New Year's Eve. Solve the daily Crossword

Sarah Jessica Parker Let Slip a Rare Secret About Carrie Bradshaw's Fashion Archive

Sarah Jessica Parker has finally admitted what many fans suspected: Carrie Bradshaw's closet isn't just collecting dust. Every once in a while, Parker has dipped back into her character's iconic fashion archive — but only under very specific circumstances. In a new interview with People, Parker revealed she once pulled a look straight from the archive to attend a birthday party in England. 'I just did it,' she said with a laugh. 'It's one of the few occasions I've ever pulled from the archive for personal use… It's not every day.' More from SheKnows Sarah Jessica Parker's Poetic Goodbye to Carrie Bradshaw Comes With Baggage That 'not every day' qualifier is important. Parker, 60, explained she's far from casual about raiding Bradshaw's wardrobe, even when tempted. 'What would the circumstances and the environment be that I would be wearing this, and would it be okay and safe, or would it be destroyed?' she said. 'I'm very judicious about that.' It's a rare glimpse into how seriously Parker treats the character she's played for nearly three decades. From Sex and the City's debut in 1998 through the finale of And Just Like That earlier this month, Carrie's clothes have been as central to the story as the breakups and the brunches. And unlike most TV wardrobes, Parker didn't let them disappear. In a 2021 Vogue interview, she revealed: 'I had all of the original stuff in my own storage. Furniture, clothes, everything, packed according to season and episode and scene. I kept every single solitary thing.' That kind of devotion has allowed Carrie's tutu, Manolos, and nameplate necklace to live on long after the show itself. It also blurs the line between actress and character. As Parker admitted in June, she does share some of Carrie's affection for fashion, even if hers is 'less fevered' than the columnist's. Now, with And Just Like That closing its run, Parker's disclosure feels especially poignant. Borrowing from the archive isn't just about convenience — it's about honoring a character who shaped her life and career. As she wrote in her Instagram farewell to Carrie earlier this month: 'Carrie Bradshaw has dominated my professional heartbeat for 27 years. I think I have loved her most of all.'Best of SheKnows 20 Times Madonna Reinvented Fashion at the VMAs The Best Photos of Madonna & Lookalike Daughter Lourdes Through The Years 22 Famous Women Who Have Played Roxie in Chicago on Broadway Solve the daily Crossword
