Deliveroo launches the ‘Collecteroo' initiative in collaboration with UAE Food Bank
Dubai, United Arab Emirates: Deliveroo UAE has collaborated with the UAE Food Bank to launch 'Collecteroo', a first of its kind initiative designed to enhance food security and reduce food waste across the UAE. As part of Deliveroo's ongoing Full Life campaign, which was introduced in the UAE in August 2022, this initiative will facilitate the collection and redistribution of surplus food to communities in need through the UAE Food Bank.
The 'Collecteroo' initiative will see a dedicated van collect surplus food from supermarkets, trading companies, hotels, and restaurants. With nearly 500 tons of food collected every month, the Collecteroo van is set to become an essential part of the UAE's efforts to combat food waste while ensuring that excess food benefits those who need it most.
Taghrid Oraibi, Head of Communications at Deliveroo Middle East, said 'The launch of the 'Collecteroo' initiative is a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to reducing food waste and tackling food insecurity. By working with the UAE Food Bank, we aim to help make a tangible difference to communities in need across the UAE. This initiative, aligning with our Full Life campaign, is part of our broader strategy to ensure we make a positive impact in the markets we operate in. We look forward to building on this ongoing campaign as we continue our efforts to reduce food waste.'
Manal Obaid bin Yaroof, Head of the Executive Team at UAE Food Bank, said 'At the UAE Food Bank, we continuously seek opportunities to expand our efforts in building a sustainable food ecosystem where excess food is efficiently redirected to those who need it most. The 'Collecteroo' initiative has the potential to support thousands of individuals every month, bringing us one step closer to ensuring that surplus food is distributed responsibly and effectively.'
Deliveroo's initiative supports the UAE's national target of reducing food waste by 50% by 2030, in line with the country's food security strategy and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

A new fried chicken joint has opened in Abu Dhabi and it looks so tasty
BonBird has touched down in Abu Dhabi – and it's bringing buckets of hype (and actual buckets of chicken). If you've ever stood in a queue in Dubai for fried chicken served with oodles of flavour, chances are you've heard of BonBird. Now, the UAE-born brand is officially one of Abu Dhabi's new restaurants, setting up shop in Gardens Plaza, Khalifa City – and Abu Dhabi's fried chicken scene just got a serious upgrade. The new 60-seater spot is open daily from 10am to 1am, and it's got everything from burgers and wraps to big, saucy bowls and old-school buckets of the crispy stuff. Expect seasoning that doesn't hold back (hello, BonBird Chicken Salt and the XXX Hot) and a no-nonsense menu that reads like it was designed by someone who's actually eaten fried chicken in the early hours of the morning. BonBird might be dressed up like a trendy East London chicken shop, but there's more to it than neon signs and industrial lighting. It was launched by Yolk Brands in 2023 and has already gone international, with outposts in Qatar, Pakistan, and Oman. Next stop: the UK – with 50 locations in the works. As for the Abu Dhabi branch, it's pretty chill. Easy parking off Ahmed Bin Abulaziz Al Mubarak Street, open till late, and delivery is available via Deliveroo and Talabat if you'd rather eat your chicken horizontally on the sofa (no judgements here). Now open. Daily 10am-1am. Gardens Plaza, Khalifa City, @ More going on in Abu Dhabi You can now get a robotaxi from Zayed International Airport Trips to the airport just got an upgrade Abu Dhabi's best restaurants: Everywhere you should eat at least once Your dinner inspo is sorted 20 incredibly fun ways to explore Abu Dhabi after dark The city is at its most fascinating once the sun goes down

Deliveroo is ‘Petvertising' with interactive OOH campaign for pets
Deliveroo UAE aims to reimagine out-of-home (OOH) advertising through its latest Petvertising campaign launch. This playful, unconventional campaign is designed for both pets and their humans. The series features billboards tailored to specific animals, from dog-height 'woof woof' posters and cat-level 'meow' messages to tree-high chirping signs for birds and palm-sized squeaky hamster boards. Strategically located at Dubai parks, each billboard was fitted with a motion and sound sensor. When triggered by the movement of a pet passing by, the installation played the corresponding animal sound to grab attention. Rooted in the insight that the best way to promote pet services is through the pets themselves, the campaign blends humour, innovation, and a love for animals, that aims to turn a simple message into an unmissable moment for passersby. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Deliveroo UAE (@deliveroo_ae) The ads then invited humans to 'scan to answer their bark, meow, chirp, or squeak' via a QR code, leading to Deliveroo's in-app pet store selection, where customers could shop for everything from food and treats to toys, grooming products, and more. With Petvertising, Deliveroo aims to demonstrate its continued commitment to innovation, showing that even the most familiar formats, like outdoor billboards, can be reimagined with a little creativity and a lot of heart. The delivery service brand claims the campaign not only raised awareness of Deliveroo's growing pet category but also celebrated the bond between pets and their humans in a thoughtful way.
