The ‘Montoya, por favor!' meme, explained
Sometimes, a language barrier in reality television doesn't exist when there's enough passion and pain.
Such was the case this week as a (WARNING!!) very NSFW clip from Spain's La Isla De Las Tentaciones — or Temptation Island as we know it in the United States — went very viral as Montoya went through every emotion watching his girlfriend cheat on him.
Temptation Island puts couples into — wait for it — tempting situations, intending to test the strength of their relationships. Things did not go well for Montoya and Anita as they saw footage of their significant others engaging in various (and escalating) levels of infidelity. Things culminated with Montoya sprinting down the beach, attempting to make it in time to stop the passion between Anita and another man.
As he ran, the show's host shouted 'Montoya, por favor!' hoping to stop a potential run-in. Immediately, the internet was obsessed with the moment and it became a widespread meme, with everyone from pro soccer teams to the U.S. Open getting in on the action.

J.J. Spaun's Wife Melody Spaun Makes Honest Revelation After US Open Victory
J.J. Spaun's Wife Melody Spaun Makes Honest Revelation After US Open Victory originally appeared on Athlon Sports. J.J. Spaun's wife Melody Spaun and two kids had a front-row seat to witness the golfer's thrilling putt to win the U.S. Open. Spaun scripted a fairytale finish at the 2025 U.S. Open, holding off Robert MacIntyre to clinch his first major title. Advertisement In an epic final round at Oakmont, Spaun sank a stunning 65-foot birdie on the 18th hole to finish at 1-under par, the only player in the field to finish under par. Spaun's final-round 72, which included five bogeys in the opening six holes, turned around with clutch birdies at the 12th, 14th, and 17th before the unforgettable final putt. The newest U.S. Open winner greatly benefitted from a reset after the lengthy weather delay. MacIntyre, who shot an impressive 68 in tough conditions, finished second after setting the clubhouse lead at 1-over par. Despite the loss, the Scot was full of praise, applauding with genuine sportsmanship. J.J. Spaun's wife, Melody, and their daughters, Emerson and Violet, were on hand to witness the emotional victory. 'Dada won! Look at that trophy!' the girls cheered, beaming with pride. 'Honestly, I feel like he's always been the underdog, and he's finally proved himself,' she shared in an interview posted Sunday by the PGA Tour. 'He finally feels like he belongs here, and he's showing it.' Spaun, who just the night before had joked about needing room service after a long day, dedicated the win to his family. 'She's back at the hotel with our two girls... they're probably going to bed any minute now,' Spaun told reporters on Saturday. From playing on the Canadian Tour to hoisting the U.S. Open trophy, Spaun's journey has been nothing short of remarkable, a victory made even sweeter by the love and support of his tight-knit family. PGA Tour Pro Emphatically Answers Caitlin Clark's U.S. Open Question
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. It looks like global basketball superstar Caitlin Clark was among the millions who watched the final round of the US Open. At the very least, she certainly noticed the tough playing conditions at Oakmont Country Club. During the weather-related suspension, Clark took to her X account, which has 530,000 followers, to give her take about the course. "Is Oakmont even fun to play? I'd shoot 130 easily," she posted. Is Oakmont even fun to play? 😂😂 I'd shoot 130 easily 😂 — Caitlin Clark (@CaitlinClark22) June 15, 2025 Her playful commentary received over 2.4 million views and more than 800 responses, including one from PGA Tour winner Michael Kim, who happened to be among those who played four rounds at Oakmont this weekend. "Promise you it's not 'fun,'" he answered. There's no doubt that Oakmont didn't give Kim much leeway. The 31-year-old finished tied for 50th place, shooting 14-over par. It's not a coincidence that Caitlin Clark was following the US Open, as her connection with golf is widely known. While she's not trading her sneakers for spikes anytime soon, Clark's participation in golf events has showcased her enthusiasm for the sport. Last year, Clark played in the Pro-Am event of the LPGA's The Annika Drive by Gainbridge, an event hosted by golf legend Annika Sorenstam. She shared the course with Nelly Korda*, the World No. 1-ranked female golfer, in a round that highlighted their mutual admiration. During that event, Korda praised Clark's influence on women's sports, admitting that Clark's rise in basketball had even sparked her own interest in the game. MoreThis was not the first time Clark played a high-profile Pro-Am event, as she has also participated in the Pro-Am of the John Deere Classic and the RSM Classic. Clark's golf skills are still a work in progress, but she certainly has the game in her. Images of her swing show up from time to time on social media, giving the fans a glimpse of her golfing potential. Beyond the playing part of the game, Clark's involvement in golf extends to her role as a Gainbridge ambassador, aligning her with icons like Sorenstam and Billie Jean King. Her presence at golf events not only bridges the gap between basketball and golf but also amplifies the visibility of female athletes across different sports. Clark may not be eyeing a professional golf career, but her enthusiasm for the game and her ability to bring fans along for the ride make her a valuable figure in the broader sports landscape. U.S. Open Runner-Up's Reaction to J.J. Spaun's Winning Putt Catches Attention
U.S. Open Runner-Up's Reaction to J.J. Spaun's Winning Putt Catches Attention originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Every sportsman likes to imagine how they would react to winning a national championship, but it's not often that they imagine how they would react in a losing scenario. Advertisement On Sunday afternoon at the 2025 U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club, Robert MacIntyre showed everyone what a sportsman he really is, and he's being applauded for it. After taking the clubhouse lead at one-over par, MacIntyre had to sit idly by in the clubhouse and wait for the rest of the field to finish, hoping to dodge a lower score and take home the U.S. Open title. After holing a birdie on the 17th, J.J. Spaun just needed a two-putt par on the 18th to win his first major championship. Instead, he holed a 64-foot birdie putt to win the tournament by two strokes. Spaun holds his daughter Emerson with his wife Melody Spaun just behind the duo at the conclusion of the Par 3 Contest at The Masters golf tournament at Augusta National Golf Schumacher-Imagn Images The putt from Spaun was the longest made by anyone in the entire tournament all week long, capping off an incredible final round that saw him bogey five of the first six holes earlier in the day. Advertisement Meanwhile, MacIntyre had a classy reaction to watching the putt drop from the clubhouse. Instead of being upset, MacIntyre seemed genuinely impressed by the putt, clapping his hands and saying "wow!" While it's fun to imagine that a lot of people would react in a similar fashion, it's fair to say that MacIntyre might be in a small group of people that would react so cordially to missing out on his first major championship opportunity. Credit to MacIntyre for being a class act in this situation.
