CM calls for Change of guard at Centre
Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy underscored the need for change in national leadership as Prime Minister Narendra Modi failed to teach a befitting lesson to Pakistan in the recent Operation Sindoor offensive.
Likening Modi to 'demonetised Rs 1000-currency note' in the wake of the recent India-Pakistan ceasefire, Revanth Reddy emphasised that had it been Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in Modi's position, he, inspired by his grandmother Indira Gandhi, would have broken Pakistan into pieces and taken possession of the Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK), besides liberating Balochistan.
Addressing the Jai Hind rally in the city on Thursday, which was attended by AICC state in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan, PCC president B Mahesh Kumar Goud, several ministers and ex-servicemen, the CM urged the participants to ensure that Rahul Gandhi became the Prime Minister of the nation as he would repeat the feat of 'Apara Kali' Indira Gandhi who broke Pakistan into pieces.
Recalling India's victories against Pakistan under the leadership of former prime minister Indira Gandhi, the Chief Minister remarked that the war was not for the fainthearted. 'Those who lead the war should have valour, spine, planning, strategy and bravery,' he said to the cheers of the audience.
While referring to various defence manufacturing units in Hyderabad, Reddy said that had the present BJP government engaged indigenously developed jet fighters, the situation would have been quite different during the aerial combat with Pakistan. 'Hyderabad houses one of the largest cantonments in the country, where fighter jets also get manufactured. Had the government procured indigenous jets, we would have saved our face. Instead, the Modi government decided to procure Rafael for the sake of contractors, but those fighter jets were shot down by Pakistan. How many Rafael jets were shot down by Pakistan?
Why is there no discussion on the matter? Modi should answer these questions,' Revanth Reddy demanded.
Critical of the Tiranga Yatra organised by the BJP, the Chief Minister asked as to what the BJP government was celebrating about when US President Donald claimed that he was instrumental in the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan. 'We announced all our support to the Modi government at the critical juncture when an all-party meet was organised. But when Trump made his announcement, the Central government did not convene an all-party meeting. Why no opinion was sought from political parties following the ceasefire announcement,' he asked.

Solar power lights up Naravaripalle
Tirupati: Naravaripalle, the native village of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu in Chandragiri mandal of the district, has no doubt transformed quietly into a showcase of his vision of ushering in clean energy across the state so much so that nearly every home there doubles up as a solar power unit. Around 1,600 of the 2,300 households in the village cluster have already installed rooftop solar panels, excluding homes with structural limitations. Thus, this village is now not just the centrepiece of the scheme in the Tirupati district, where a total of 2,094 homes have adopted solar, but also a compelling example of what all is possible when public awareness, political will, and administrative support converge. On the flip side, however, it reflects the administration's studied focus on the Chief Minister's native district even as the broader rollout across the State mirrors a less appealing, if not an appalling, story. Under the Union government's PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSGMY), launched in February 2023, subsidies up to Rs.78,000 are offered for rooftop solar installations. The response of the public, except in designated pilot areas, has been lukewarm. In Chittoor district, for instance, close to 50,000 people have registered, 95 per cent of them from SC/ST communities; yet, only 268 installations have been done. Notably, 95 of these are from Nadimuru village in Kuppam mandal. In another pilot area inaugurated by the Chief Minister in January 2025, the initial traction has not gained momentum. Overall, people in Tirupati have shown strong interest, with over 63,500 applications, including nearly 60,000 from SC/ST communities, which have been assured that both state and central governments will fully cover their installation costs. Tenders for this phase are expected to be floated shortly. In contrast, the uptake among other social categories remains low. Key deterrents include the need for upfront payment, grey areas in the subsidy disbursement process, and lack of visible short-term benefits. Many of the consumers remain either partially or fully unaware of the procedures or are hesitant to invest in a scheme that they don't fully understand as yet. Officially speaking, applicants must navigate a multi-step process: register on the national portal, submit documentation (electricity bill, address, bank details), pay a registration fee, choose from approved vendors, and wait for DISCOM officials to install a smart meter. The subsidy is disbursed only after the completed project is photographed and uploaded. This process, which looks simple on paper, is proving cumbersome in practice, especially in rural and semi-urban areas. Officials from the Southern Power Distribution Company of Andhra Pradesh Limited (SPDCL) and New & Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh Ltd (NREDCAP) are now being urged to proactively address public concerns, raise awareness, and simplify the procedures. All told, in the absence of targeted outreach and trust-building efforts across all communities, the larger vision of statewide solar adoption leaves much to be desired.

Modi will virtually inaugurate the Indore Metro and the airports in Satna and Datia, marking a milestone in regional infrastructure development. He will also transfer the first installment for 1,271 new 'Atal Gram Seva Sadans' (panchayat bhavans) costing Rs 483 cr. Water resources minister Tulsiram Silawat said for the convenience of devotees along the Kshipra river in Ujjain district, approximately 30 km of ghats will be constructed on both banks, from Shani Mandir to the Nagda bypass, at an estimated cost of Rs 778.91 cr. The project is targeted for completion by Dec 2027. In addition, the water resources department will construct nine barrages on the Kshipra river — one each in Ujjain and Indore districts and seven in Dewas district. The Ujjain Municipal Corporation will also undertake the repair of the Kaliadeh stop dam. Furthermore, 11 barrages will be built on the Kanh river — five in Ujjain district and six in the Indore district. The total estimated cost for these works is Rs 84.78 cr.

Senior Congress leader Salman Khurshid hailed the abrogation of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, insisting that the region has seen development since the move. Khurshid's remarks came during his visit to Indonesia as part of India's all-party delegation's outreach initiative. While dismantling false propaganda by Pakistan about the ongoing tensions with India, Khurshid brought up the Prime Minister Narendra Modi government's landmark move in August 2019 to permanently scrap the article that gave special status to the former state of J&K. Khurshid was addressing the Indonesian think Tanks and Academia on Thursday. He is part of the delegation team, led by JD(U) MP Sanjay Jha. Khurshid noted that there is a government in the region today which was elected with the participation of over 60 per cent of voters in the region, ANI reported. 'Kashmir had a major problem for a long time. Much of that was reflected in the thinking of the government in an article called Article 370 of the Constitution, which somehow gave the impression that it was separate from the rest of the country. But Article 370 was abrogated, and it was finally put to an end," the Congress MP said. 'Subsequently, there was an election with 65 per cent participation in the election. There's an elected government in Kashmir today, and therefore, for people to want to undo everything that has happened, the prosperity that has come to Kashmir," he added. Don't hyphenate between India and Pakistan Another crucial message Khurshid shared in Indonesia is the demand not to hyphenate India and Pakistan. On Friday, Khurshid noted that India cannot be reduced to the 'size' and 'stature' of Pakistan. 'We are asked, why did we stop?… We are not Pakistan; we are much larger than they are. We have a greater role in the world… We got respect not only for our strengths but also for showing confidence in our strengths. We had to do certain things to teach Pakistan a lesson, and then we stopped because we are not greedy for Pakistan, their territory, or to destroy them,' he said during an interaction with the Indian community in Indonesia, ANI. 'We only want to preserve and protect ourselves… We want to lead the world. And in that leadership role, we cannot reduce ourselves to the size and stature of Pakistan… We don't want a hyphen between India and Pakistan… Talk to us separately… The beauty of our plural culture, the beauty of how we live together and celebrate life together, is something that we want to show… We are patriots. We believe in humanity. We believe in our country because our country is our mother,' he furthered.
