At MCM, payments for waste cos only after councillor nod
Gurgaon: MCM commissioner Ayush Sinha has issued strict directives to waste collection and street cleaning agencies, threatening penalties for non-compliance with contractual obligations.
Agencies must now regularly update their operational data on the solid waste management portal (SWM) with payments linked to satisfaction certificates from ward councillors.
Agency representatives were also directed to equip all garbage collection vehicles with GPS and improve sanitation in the municipal area.
"Garbage vulnerable points must also be cleaned daily. In residential areas, garbage should be collected twice a day, and the number of rounds should be increased if necessary.
In villages with market areas, garbage collection vehicles should go after 9 am," said the commissioner, adding that the responsibility for monitoring the work of agencies has been assigned to the officers and employees of the sanitation branch Orders have also been given to the revenue branch to identify land for a new dumping site.
Meanwhile, MCM officials will monitor the work of the agency processing waste at the Sector 8 dumping site.

There is around 4,000 metric tonnes (MT) of waste lying unprocessed at the site. There are two designated waste dumping and processing sites in Manesar. One is in Sector 6, where fresh waste is dumped, and the site where a trommel machine has been set up for waste processing is located in IMT Sector 8.
The commissioner directed the agencies that certificates for refuse-derived fuel (RDF), compost, etc., produced from waste processing should also be obtained, ensuring their disposal as per the norms.

The lone survivor, identified as Vishwashkumar Ramesh, a British national of Indian origin, sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment.
