Guardz raises $56m to enhance AI-native
The funding round was led by ClearSky, with participation from Phoenix Financial and existing investors such as Glilot Capital Partners, SentinelOne, Hanaco Ventures, and others.
The latest investment brings Guardz's total funding to $84m within just over two years.
Since its launch from stealth in early 2023, Guardz has partnered with hundreds of MSPs and is securing thousands of businesses globally.
With the new funding, Guardz aims to scale its go-to-market efforts and enhance its platform to deliver greater automation, risk prevention, and cyber compliance and insurance capabilities.
The Guardz platform, featuring AI and human-led Managed Detection and Response (MDR), is designed for MSPs to provide comprehensive cybersecurity at scale.
By integrating protection across identities, email, endpoints, cloud, and data into a single engine, Guardz enables MSPs to detect threats faster and respond more accurately, reducing manual effort.
The platform's 24/7 MDR combines AI-automated detection and response with expert-led threat hunting.
The integrated SentinelOne Endpoint Detection and Response ensures strong security without added complexity.
Seamless integrations with Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace monitor user behaviour and activity, flagging suspicious patterns to prevent account takeovers and suspending accounts before damage occurs.
Combining these controls with user awareness and email protection enhances MSPs' ability to strengthen client security, unlock new revenue opportunities, and scale their businesses more efficiently.

Privilege Creep: The Overlooked Threat To Cybersecurity

A former employee whose credentials still work in the finance system. A marketing lead who helped with a product launch and never lost access to engineering files. A contractor who left last quarter but remains active in multiple databases. This slow buildup of access, what we call privilege creep, is one of the most overlooked risks in cybersecurity today. It's rarely malicious. In fact, that's what makes it dangerous. It grows silently as people shift roles, join temporary projects or fill in for someone else. And it's precisely that silence that turns it into a real threat. In my 30 years working in cybersecurity, I've seen firsthand how privilege creep evolves from a minor oversight into a structural vulnerability. In too many cases, attackers don't have to force their way in. They just wait for the front door to be left open. A Growing Problem Most organizations underestimate how prevalent this problem really is. A lack of visibility into users with privileged access exacerbates the issue. Some companies may even be extending these privileges to people who are no longer employees. When credentials get compromised, and they often do, they give attackers not just access but reach. Excess permissions act like a fuse. Once lit, they let adversaries move through systems undetected, quietly collecting sensitive data for weeks or months. IBM's "Cost of a Data Breach Report 2024" found that breaches stemming from compromised credentials took an average of 292 days to detect and cost organizations the most to contain. Outgrowing Traditional Identity Tools Traditional identity tools weren't built for this level of complexity. They were designed for a different era, when roles were static, users worked on-prem and systems were finite. None of that applies with today's dynamic teams, hybrid work and sprawling tech stacks. And 'temporary' access often becomes permanent because no one remembers to take it away. Role-based access control, once the gold standard, too often gets bypassed or becomes outdated the moment it's implemented. What's needed is a smarter system. One that understands how people actually work, learns from patterns and adapts in real time. Intelligent Monitoring And Management Imagine a system that knows that a finance analyst logs into the ERP platform from their office during business hours. If they suddenly try to access it at midnight from a personal device, the system flags the suspicious activity and requires extra verification. That goes beyond surveillance to context-aware security. Or take the CRM tool no longer in use. A smart identity platform recognizes the inactivity and flags the permissions for review or removal automatically. Effective privilege management goes beyond granting access—it provides visibility and empowers organizations to make informed, proactive decisions. What Leaders Can Do Now Forward-looking security teams take these five specific steps: 1. Automate the cleanup. Set automated scans to flag or remove unused permissions every 30 days. 2. Make roles dynamic. Align permissions to job changes in real time, not months later. 3. Monitor behavior. Use AI to identify access patterns that don't fit the norm. 4. Track continuously. Move from one-time audits to real-time compliance visibility. 5. Elevate identity. Treat identity as a business function, not just an IT task. Getting identity right goes beyond securing logins and limiting access. It secures the business, so that you experience fewer gaps, faster response times and fewer headlines for the wrong reasons. Adobe is introducing a new Acrobat platform that combines the PDF app with its Adobe Express content creation service and AI assistants that can automate specific productivity tasks. Acrobat Studio allows users to upload up to 100 documents and consolidate the information together into a single workspace. The idea is to evolve Acrobat beyond being a tool just for reading and editing PDFs, into a platform that supports a wider range of file types and productivity tools, including web pages and Microsoft 365 files. The platform enables users to work on multiple documents simultaneously without leaving Acrobat, using collaborative work environments called 'PDF Spaces' that pull file and website information into 'conversational knowledge hubs.'
