Mandy Moore and family 'doing well' after home was damaged in Los Angeles wildfires

Perth Now19-07-2025
Mandy Moore and her family are "doing well" after their home was left badly damaged in the Los Angeles wildfires earlier this year.
The This Is Us actress' co-star Chrissy Metz has shared that although it was a "life-altering" experience for Mandy - who has Gus, four, Oscar, three, and Louise, 10 months, with musician husband Taylor Goldsmith - and her young family, fortunately, most of the structure of the property was "salvaged".
She told Extra: 'She's doing well. I mean, thank goodness.
'A lot of the structure was able to be salvaged, which is great, but it's so jarring. It's so life-altering, and she has children and pets. It's just frightening because there's nothing you can do but hopefully get out of there.'
Chrissy says she keeps in touch with all of her co-stars from the hit NBC drama - the cast of which also included Milo Ventimiglia, Justin Hartley, Susan Kelechi Watson, and Chris Sullivan.
She said: "Oh, my gosh, everybody. We all are texting each other. I always text when any projects come out or Sterling with his nominations for 'Paradise.''
Chrissy added of Sterling K. Brown (her onscreen sibling): 'Oh, he's the best. I really feel like he's a big brother for me.'
Chrissy's update on her co-star comes after Mandy recently paid tribute to her mother-in-law Kathy Goldsmith, describing her as the "silver lining" amid the devastating wildfires.
As well as Mandy's home suffering damage, Kathy lost her abode.
She wrote on Instagram: "It's been a hell of a year and my Mother-in-law, Kathy, has risen to the occasion in every way. Selfishly, I'm not sure what I would have done without her in the hours, days, weeks, and months since the fire. She suffered her own immense loss and has been by our side since the very beginning, without skipping a beat. I'm heartbroken that our 5 min walk to her house is no longer on the table BUT so grateful that we've been able to live under the same roof these last 6 months- if there's any silver lining in this whole thing, she's definitely ours. (sic)"
Mandy heaped praise on Kathy for "absolutely mastering" the childcare of her and Taylor's three children, admitting the couple "couldn't be luckier that she's ours".
She added: "From coffee in the morning as we let the dogs out, to tea after the kids go down and talking about our grief, funny things that happened in our day, etc…. To her absolutely mastering bath time, mealtime, playtime and everything in between- including moments like when Gus declared today- 'I have to GO POOP with Gaga now!', we couldn't be luckier that she's ours and we're never letting her go.
"Seriously, she thinks she can move into her new place but that's not happening. Ha! I know you want this Birthday to just move right along, but those of us that know your friendship and heart are MORE THAN HAPPY to celebrate you today and always.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, @kathy_goldsmith!! We Love you, Gaga!! Xo (sic)"
Mandy recently admitted she is "looking forward to rebuilding" her family home following the fires.

Jamie Lee Curtis is 'very excited' about Murder, She Wrote movie

Jamie Lee Curtis is "very excited" about her new Murder, She Wrote movie. The actress will step into the shoes of Dame Angela Lansbury to play mystery writer-turned-amateur detective Jessica Fletcher in a new film based on the long-running TV show of the same name and Jamie has admitted she can't wait to start filming on the project. She told Entertainment Tonight: "Oh, it's … happening. We're a minute away, but yeah, [I'm] very excited. Very excited. "But I'm tamping down my enthusiasm until we start shooting. I have a couple of other things to hustle, but then I'll get to enjoy that work." Murder, She Wrote starred Lansbury - who died in 2022 aged 96 - and ran for 12 seasons from 1984 to 1996. Bosses at NBC had previously planned to revive the show with Oscar winning actress Octavia Spencer, but reports from early 2014 suggested the project had been canned. Curtis is currently busy promoting her new movie Freakier Friday with Lindsay Lohan - a sequel to the pair's 2003 comedy Freaky Friday - which is due for release in early August. The Oscar-winning movie star previously revealed she loved working with Lohan again and admitted the younger actress "taught" her "so much" on set for a second time. She told Variety: "She has taught me so much. She has her team, where her two people would be standing on either side of a camera holding a big light. "It's Lindsay lighting - that would have been good branding - they hold lights so that we look better. "So, I've learned a lot from her already. We had a good time. We love each other." She added to the publication of the second film: "It's a movie for today. It is a happy, nostalgic, funny, sweet, heartfelt, Disney movie right at the end of the summer. "There haven't been a lot of movies for women, and this is a love letter to every mother, grandma, sister, cousin and daughter." Curtis has several other projects in the works including a TV version of Patricia Cornwell's book Scarpetta alongside Nicole Kidman, scam movie Sender and spy drama Spychosis.

Hulk Hogan's cause of death revealed

Iconic wrestler Hulk Hogan has died aged 71 after he suffered a heart attack at his Florida home on Thursday, US time. Hogan's manager Chris Volo told NBC that the star died surrounded by loved ones. There had been concerns about his health for several weeks but Hogan's wife Sky had assured fans that while Hogan was recovering after several operations there was 'no need to panic'. Tragically, and despite the optimism, Hogan did not make it through his recovery World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) confirmed Hogan's death and said it was 'saddened to learn WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan had passed away'. The organisation said Hogan, as Terry Bollea was known professionally, was 'one of pop culture's most recognisable figures' who had helped WWE achieve 'global recognition' in the 1980s. US President Donald Trump said on social media the 'Hulkster' was a 'great friend' and 'MAGA all the way'. He applauded Hogan's 'absolutely electric speech' at last July's Republican National Convention. '(Hogan was) strong, tough, smart, but with the biggest heart. He entertained fans from all over the World, and the cultural impact he had was massive.' President Trump's son, Donald Trump Jr, said simply: 'R. I. P to a legend'. Police confirmed an ambulance was called to Hogan's home in Clearwater, west of Tampa, at 9.51am on Thursday (11.51pm AEST). 'The nature of the call was for a cardiac arrest. A 71-year-old resident … Hulk Hogan, was treated by Clearwater Fire & Rescue crews before being taken by Sunstar to Morton Plant Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased,' police said in a statement. Police added that there were 'no signs of foul play or suspicious activity'. He is survived by his wife, children Lind and Brooke and two grandchildren. Recent poor health Acquaintances of Hogan have claimed he had been in poor health since at least the beginning of July. But Hogan's wife Sky said that, Hogan was 'healing' and there was 'no need for panic' despite 'intense' surgeries. 'No, he's definitely not in a coma! His heart is strong, and there was never any lack of oxygen or brain damage … none of those rumours are true,' she reportedly wrote on Instagram this month. 'He's been recovering from a major four-level Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion which is an intense surgery with a long and layered healing process. 'We've been in and out of the hospital to support that recovery. 'So truly, there's no need for the drama or panic some people try to stir up,' she added. 'He's healing, and we're taking it one day at a time with love, strength, and patience.' Dominated WWE in the 1980s Born in Augusta, Georgia, in 1953, Hogan started wrestling in 1977 after dropping out of university and soon joined the Word Wrestling Federation which became the WWE. The name 'Hulk' came from TV series The Incredible Hulk which was popular at the time. Hogan's charisma and flamboyance – including his trademark handlebar moustache, bandannas and theatrical ripping off of his shirt – helped propel him to stardom. His charm, ability to whip up a crowd and antics in the ring led him to achieve the fame few other wrestlers were able to sustain. Some considered his showmanship to surpass his actual wrestling ability. Yet he was WWE champion six times, albeit in a choreographed fusion of entertainment and sport. The adoration of fans and the ensuing 'Hulkamania' kept him at the forefront of WWE. After he stopped wrestling, Hogan began an acting career in films and TV. In 2015, Hogan apologised after a video of him using racial slurs emerged. The next year, he settled a court case with website Gawker after it had earlier published part of a sex tape involving him. He had accused the website of defamation, loss of privacy, and emotional pain and was initially awarded $140 million. Following Hogan's win, Gawker – then a popular site – went bankrupt and shut down.

Jason Momoa insists his actor son isn't a nepo baby

Jason Momoa insists his actor son isn't a nepo baby. The Aquaman star's 16-year-old son Nakoa-Wolf Momoa has landed a key role in Dune: Part Three, but his famous father says the teenager got the part without any help from him. Jason told Extra: 'He's into the workforce for the first time. It's going to be good. 'He did it on his own. I don't want to help him, and he's done it all on his own, and good for him.' Nakoa-Wolf, the son of Jason Momoa and 56-year-old actor Lisa Bonet, has been cast in Denis Villeneuve's third Dune instalment alongside Silo star Ida Brooke, 17. The two young actors will portray the twin children of Paul Atreides (played by 29-year-old Timothée Chalamet) and Chani (27-year-old Zendaya.) The film, which follows the events of Frank Herbert's second novel, Dune Messiah, continues the story of Paul Atreides as he becomes emperor. Jason, 45, originally played Duncan Idaho in Villeneuve's 2021 Dune film but did not appear in Dune: Part Two, which was released in 2024. He is confirmed to return in the third instalment, though details about his character's reappearance remain unclear. In the original book series, Duncan is resurrected as a clone – known as a ghola – following his death. Jason added to Extra about Nakoa-Wolf's achievement: 'You want your children to be better than you, and I really, actually believe he is. I couldn't do what he's doing at his age. 'There's no way I could sit in a room with Denis Villeneuve and hold my own. I was on Baywatch at 19. He's 16 and holding shit down with Denis Villeneuve. 'We raised him beautiful. We raised our children… it's just, you know, being loved and being confident in themselves… that is what he is. He's very confident.' The actor was speaking at the premiere in Hawaii of the Chief of War, at which he appeared alongside Nakoa-Wolf and his daughter, 17-year-old Lola Iolani. The historical drama series, which explores the unification of the Hawaiian Islands in the 18th century, marks one of Jason's major projects outside the Dune franchise. In Dune, Jason's Duncan Idaho character was the loyal swordmaster and mentor to Paul Atreides. His character was killed near the film's climax while defending Paul and Lady Jessica (portrayed by 56-year-old Rebecca Ferguson) from Sardaukar forces.
