Reclusive Josh Hartnett breaks social media ban after new film Fight Or Flight earns 100% Rotten Tomato score

Daily Mail24-04-2025
Hollywood action star Josh Hartnett surprised fans with a rare social media appearance on Tuesday.
The reclusive actor, 46, appeared in a clip shared to the official Instagram for his latest film, Fight or Flight, which has a 100% Rotten Tomato score.
The Oppenheimer star — who left Los Angeles at the height of his fame due to stalking incidents — was pictured typing on the phone, his face barely visible in the lower part of the screen, with a text overlay that read: 'Me promoting my film before ghosting social media for another 10 years.'
The caption of the post jokingly stated: 'when your team insists on a social media content day to promote your new film, Fight or Flight (in theaters May 9), but you don't get any of these viral trends.'
Fans in the comments shared their surprise, with one writing, 'What the hell? Josh Harnett?'
'Please josh you need to come back (actually come back),' another pleaded.

'Oh Josh i never thought i will see this,' someone else wrote.
'2035 shaking in its boots right now trying to figure out how to top that,' another joked.
Hartnett plays an assassin protecting a VIP on a plane in the new thriller, which is set to hit theaters May 9th.
Chaos erupts as rival assassins emerge, all vying for the same target.
The film is directed by James Madigan.
The cast also includes Charithra Chandran, who plays the target he's charged with protecting, as well as Julian Kostov, Katee Sackhoff and Marko Zaror.
The trailer for the movie shows Hartnett rocking bleach blonde hair and sporting bruises on his face, as he spars with the other killers on board of the plane.
Critics on Rotten Tomatoes have given the action movie a perfect 100% score.
'A solid bit of high-concept B-movie fun, establishing Josh Hartnett as a credible action hero, and James Madigan as a genre director to watch,' John Nugent from Empire Magazine wrote.
The Oppenheimer star was pictured typing on the phone, his face barely visible in the lower part of the screen, with a text overlay that read: 'Me promoting my film before ghosting social media for another 10 years'
Fans in the comments shared their surprise, with one writing, 'What the hell? Josh Harnett?'
'Fight or Flight is a bonkers action-comedy that is fun and devilishly gory enough to overlook some of its more gaping flaws, while providing Josh Hartnett with another magnetic lead turn in a script filled with chaos,' Jack Martin from Film Feeder said of the film.
Donald Clarke from Irish Times added, 'This is cartoon violence at a level of savagery that might give Itchy & Scratchy pause for thought.'
Before taking on his latest role, Hartnett played a brutal serial killer dubbed 'The Butcher' in director M. Night Shyamalan's psychological thriller film Trap, which premiered last year.
And the actor revealed to Entertainment Weekly that he drew acting inspiration from 'psychopaths' he's come face-to-face with in show business over the years.
'There are a lot of CEOs, politicians, people in our business… a lot of people who are at the top,' Hartnett dished.
'They don't mind stepping over people or doing horrible things to get where they're going, and not having any empathy is a pretty big sign of being a psychopath.'
With these ruthless real-life people in mind, Hartnett and Shyamalan felt they could mold the perfect complex character.
'Whether or not you're murdering people, I've met people like this, you know what I mean? So it was easy to take it all a step further, make it a little bolder, and make his cover so intense,' he explained.
Last year, Hartnett opened up about his exodus from Los Angeles at the height of his stardom more than two decades ago.
The Minnesota native was just 19 when he arrived in Los Angeles, and quickly started landing roles, with his film debut as Laurie Strode's (Jamie Lee Curtis) son in Halloween H20: 20 Years Later.
While his career skyrocketed with roles in Black Hawk Down, Pearl Harbor, 40 Days and 40 Nights and others, he moved back to his home state in the early 2000s.
Now residing in England with his wife Tamsin Egerton, Hartnett opened up about his L.A. departure in an interview with The Guardian.
While he said there were many factors as to why he left, a number of stalking incidents paved the way for the move.
When asked if there was a certain moment that triggered the move back home, he admitted, 'People's attention to me at the time was borderline unhealthy.'
When asked to elaborate, Hartnett insisted, 'Well, look, I don't want to give this a lot of weight. There were incidents. People showed up at my house. People that were stalking me.'
Another scary incident involved, 'a guy showed up at one of my premieres with a gun, claiming to be my father. He ended up in prison.'
Hartnett was 27 when he decided to move back to Minnesota, 19 years ago, adding, 'There were lots of things. It was a weird time. And I wasn't going to be grist for the mill.'
He admitted that at the time 'I just didn't want my life to be swallowed up by my work. And there was a notion at that time you just kind of give it all up.'
He added, 'And you saw what happened to some people back then. They got obliterated by it. I didn't want that for myself.'
The actor and his family now live permanently in the U.K.'s Hampshire countryside.
Josh and Tamsin wed in 2021.

Kanye West fans label Bianca Censori 'classy and cool' as she debuts new reserved look

Kanye West's wife Bianca Censori has turned heads with a much more reserved look as she traded her usual barely-there ensembles for a full trench coat and statement boots Kanye West 's wife Bianca Censori is drawing attention for toning down her famously provocative fashion choices while spending more time with West's children. ‌ Known for her highly revealing outfits, including a candy bra in New York and a see-through bodysuit at the Grammys, the Australian model, 30, has frequently sparked controversy in Europe and the U.S. for outfits that pushed boundaries of public decency. ‌ Most recently, she was reportedly at risk of arrest during a bold photoshoot in New York City, where she wore minimal clothing on the street. It comes after Kanye's ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, was left in floods of tears over their split during an intense trailer. ‌ However, earlier this month, the 30-year-old appeared to shift her style completely. While accompanying three of West and Kim Kardashian 's children, Saint, 9, Chicago, 7, and Psalm, 6, to a Los Angeles movie theater, Censori wore a full-length trench coat, newsboy cap, and thigh-high silver boots. The more conservative look stood in stark contrast to her usual public appearances and fans couldn't help but notice that Kanye's eldest child, daughter North West, 12, was not present during the outing. Taking to Reddit and X to discuss her new look, one fan wrote: "Honestly? She looks amazing covered up. Still stylish, just less shock value." Another echoed: "This is a serve. Classy and cool and I'm loving this side of Bianca.' Someone else added: "She looks more confident dressed down than she ever did in the wild outfits." The Australian model's new look comes after her recent string of revealing outfits that led to her Instagram account to be deactivated. The page, which previously featured her fashion content, now displays the message: "Sorry, this page isn't available. The link you followed may be broken, or the page may have been removed." ‌ Fans speculated about the disappearance of her profile, with one Reddit user writing, 'She just deactivated, she does this pretty often. She'll be back.' Another added, 'She deleted her IG [don't worry] gang.' Her last known public appearance before the account was taken down included walking through New York City in little more than black underwear and a sheer top. ‌ Last month, she also wore a revealing bodysuit in Spain and previously turned heads at the Grammy Awards when she removed a dramatic coat to reveal a nude-colored sheer dress. As of now, she has not addressed the account deactivation or commented on whether her recent wardrobe shift marks a permanent change in direction.

Did Cristiano Ronaldo's fiancée Georgina Rodriguez debut a SECOND engagement ring?

Cristiano Ronaldo 's fiancée, Georgina Rodriguez, appeared to debut a second engagement ring in a new series of snaps posted on Instagram on Wednesday. The Argentine-Spanish model, 31, posed in a skimpy white Alo set, including tiny white shorts and a matching bra, while sporting a massive rock on her finger. But the ring appeared to be different than the massive 10-carat oval diamond that Ronaldo proposed with last week. Instead, it was a giant square-cut set on a silver band, raising the question, did he give her another rock? However, it doesn't appear to have been gifted to her by the sports star as she's previously been spotted wearing it in various Instagram pictures. The bling definitely rivaled her engagement ring, which she debuted last week, looking to be almost as many carats, if not larger. She showed the ring off in multiple photos, striking poses with confidence by the Red Sea shore, capturing a stunning sunset behind her. The couple announced they were set to wed after almost a decade together in an Instagram post on Monday evening. The Argentine-Spanish model, 31, posed in a skimpy white Alo set, including tiny white shorts and a matching bra, while sporting a massive rock on her finger Confirming their engagement, the model wrote: 'Yes I do. In this and in all my lives.' According to New York City gemologist and founder of The Clear Cut Olivia Landau, Rodriguez's oval ring is worth 'several million dollars.' 'It features an oval diamond estimated to be over 10 carats, possibly as large as 15 carats,' Landau told the Daily Mail at the time. 'It appears to be flanked by two smaller oval diamond side stones, each approximately 2–3 carats. The setting is platinum with double claw prongs on all four corners,' she continued. 'Depending on the quality, the ring and center diamond are likely worth several million dollars.' Ronaldo has been dating Rodriguez since 2017, after they met at the Gucci store where she was working as a sales assistant. That same year, they also announced that Rodriguez was pregnant with the soccer player's fourth child - a daughter named Alana Martina. Then, in 2021, they announced that they were expecting twins - but tragically, their baby boy passed away during birth. However, their daughter, Bella Esmeralda, survived. Now, after tackling parenthood together, it looks like a wedding is next up on the list for the couple. 'I didn't think at the beginning that [the relationship] would be this strong. That I would fall in love with her,' Ronaldo shared during the first episode of his soon-to-be-wife's Netflix reality series, I Am Georgina. 'I didn't expect it honestly. But after a while I felt that she was the woman of my life,' he said.
