Spa in mall busted for offering sex services, gambling
The outlet, which began operations earlier this month, was exposed in a raid at 3.15am yesterday by the Federal anti-vice, gambling and secret societies division (D7) and Cheras district police.
Acting Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Mohamed Usuf Jan Mohamad said 54 individuals between the ages of 19 and 54, were detained during the operation.
Those arrested comprised five local men, four local women, seven Chinese nationals, three Bangladeshi men, six Myanmar men, as well as 29 foreign women, including 19 from China and 10 from Myanmar.
Usuf said the foreign women were employed as guest relations officers (GROs) and allegedly offered sexual services at RM1,700 per session.
"Among those arrested was a local woman who organised the gambling sessions while four Chinese nationals and three locals were caught in the act of gambling," he said in a statement today.
Police also seized various promotional materials for massages and spa services, business receipts, condoms, mobile phones, lubricants and gambling paraphernalia.
"The main business is the spa. However, the gambling activities were arranged for the owner's business associates and not meant for the public," he added.
Usuf said the outlet only accepted walk-in customers for massages or sexual services.
All those detained, along with the seized items, were taken to the Cheras district police headquarters for further action.

Dog dies after being left in pet shop's drying box
A DOG died after it was inadvertently left inside a pet dryer box for at least an hour by its groomers, China Press reported. On July 21, an employee of the pet shop in Zhangzhou, China's Fujian province, had placed the Border Collie inside the high-heat box to be dried after a bath. The staff member then left the shop. The owner was shocked to receive a call from the shop later that day claiming that Sixty-Six was suffering from heatstroke. By the time she arrived, the six-year-old dog was already dead. CCTV at Dr M's grandchild's home only stores footage for 24 hours
KUALA LUMPUR: The data storage system for the closed-circuit television (CCTV) at the residence of the grandchild of former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad only retains footage for 24 hours, complicating efforts to investigate a recent break-in at the property. The break-in, which resulted in losses amounting to RM1.8 million, took place at the residence located in Bukit Ledang, Bukit Damansara. Acting Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Mohamed Usuf Jan Mohamad said the incident is believed to have occurred more than 24 hours before it was discovered by the victim's domestic helper. "Although the CCTV system at the residence was unable to capture the incident, further investigations are being carried out from all angles, including statements from witnesses. "So far, police have recorded statements from three individuals in connection with the case," he said when contacted. As of now, no arrests have been made, he said. "We are conducting further investigations to identify the perpetrator based on statements from the victim's domestic helper and the security guard," he said. Yesterday, it was reported that police were awaiting a full report from the Forensics Unit to obtain further leads in the case. The estimated loss of RM1.8 million involves mostly antique jewellery. The residence is occupied by Dr Mahathir's granddaughter, who is the daughter of Mirza. At the time of the incident, the victim was reportedly not at home and is said to rarely stay at the residence. The break-in was discovered at 3pm on Wednesday when the housemaid noticed that the rear gate's lock had been cut and the room had been ransacked.
