The New York Mets entered Friday up by just half a game on the Cincinnati Reds for the final wild-card spot in the National League. The team has lost 13 of its last 15 games.
With a roster full of superstars, the expectations for the Mets were to be one of the best teams in baseball. Instead, they are in real danger of missing the postseason. Francisco Lindor revealed his thoughts during the rough stretch.
"No matter what happens, we stick together," he told reporters, per SNY. "We fight for each other. We play for each other. It's definitely a test. It's a test that we're going through. It's big adversity."

NEW YORK, NEW YORK - AUGUST 14: Francisco Lindor #12 of the New York Mets celebrates his third inning home run against the Atlanta Braves in the dugout with his teammates at Citi Field on August 14, 2025 in New York City. MoreThe Mets are still in the thick of things, but the team has not been playing good baseball recently. Overall, they have been inconsistent. Lindor, Juan Soto and Pete Alonso have all had their fair share of struggles, but all three need to be clicking at the same time.
There may be some added pressure on the Mets to succeed this year. Alonso has an opt-out after the season, so this could be the last year the team has him, Lindor and Soto on the team together.
For most of the year, the Mets were close with the Philadelphia Phillies at the top of the division. The team entered Friday five games back of the Phillies in the National League East. They once held a 5 1/2-game lead over the Phillies, and are now fighting to stay in the postseason altogether.

Mets' $34 Million Addition Breaks Silence on Harsh Move: 'Not Happy'

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The New York Mets suffered a second-straight loss to the Atlanta Braves on Thursday as their blockbuster offseason and strong start have turned into a disappointing skid. After surging to the top of the National League East division earlier in the season, the Mets are clinging onto a final wild card spot as their star-studded batting order, rotation and recently reinforced bullpen all struggle at the same time. It's certainly a disappointment for many fans, given that the team added several high-caliber members to the roster after it reached the National League Championship Series last year. But most of those additions, including superstar outfielder Juan Soto, have produced less than the team might have hoped. And nobody has been a bigger disappointment than Frankie Montas. Montas joined the team this past winter on a two-year, $34 million deal after logging a 4.84 ERA with the Milwaukee Brewers and Cincinnati Reds last year and earning Cy Young Award votes with the Athletics a few seasons ago. The Mets were optimistic that their success with several other veteran pitchers would translate to Montas and that he could serve as a key member of the rotation. (Photo by) More Ramirez/Getty Instead, he has a 6.38 ERA in seven starts so far this year and was relegated to the bullpen as his struggles persisted. Now he has broken his silence on that move, indicating that it came as a sharp disappointment. "I was not happy," Montas told Zach Braziller of the New York Post on his reaction to the demotion. "I consider myself a starting pitcher. ... I've been a starter for quite some time in this league, and I consider myself a good starter." Montas does have a track record as a competent big-league starting pitcher, though the Mets were running out of time for him to figure out how to pitch as one for them. Now, Montas is left to contribute to a slumping bullpen, even if he believes he should be in the rotation instead. More MLB: Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw Offers 2-Word Response to Message From Padres

2025 MLB Odds: Can Brewers Continue Red-Hot Moneyline Streak?

Milwaukee has been on an absolute heater lately. And with that, bettors who haven't gotten on the Brewers' bandwagon might want to consider doing just that. Milwaukee is on a 12-game winning streak. Their last loss was on July 30 to the Cubs. Just how good could the winnings have been had you consulted your crystal ball at the beginning of the month? Placing a $100 wager at DraftKings Sportsbook on Milwaukee's moneyline at the start of the streak and then rolling over the winnings for the last 12 contests would have you up almost $51k. It's worth noting that three of the four teams Milwaukee faced over the last two weeks — Washington, Atlanta and Pittsburgh — have losing records. The New York Mets, at 64-56, are the only above-.500 club the Brewers battled since Aug. 1. Friday night, the Brewers attempt to keep the dream alive when they play Cincinnati (64-58). Let's look at the odds for Friday's matchup, as well as other markets for the surging Brewers at DraftKings Sportsbook as of Aug. 15. Brewers @ Reds (6:40 p.m., ET, Apple TV) Run Line: Brewers -1.5 (Brewers favored to win by more than 1.5 runs, otherwise Reds cover)Moneyline: Brewers -144 favorites to win (bet $10 to win $16.94 total); Reds +118 underdogs to win (bet $10 to win $21.80 total)Total Runs Over/Under: 9 by both teams combined Other Brewers Odds: Brewers vs. Reds Series WinnerBrewers: -125 (bet $10 to win $18 total)Reds: -105 (bet $10 to win $19.52 total) World Series+800 (bet $10 to win $90 total) National League+380 (bet $10 to win $48 total) NL Central-750 (bet $10 to win $11.33 total) Record 100+ Regular Season Wins-130 (bet $10 to win $17.69 total) Is wagering on Milwaukee's moneyline a good bet to make the rest of the way? FOX Sports MLB writer Rowan Kavner, who placed the Brewers No. 1 in his most recent power rankings, certainly believes so. "Remember when the Brewers started the year 25-28? Well, they've won 48 of their last 64 games since then and are playing like they'll never lose again," Kavner wrote. "In a season in which few elite teams have really separated themselves, Milwaukee is playing at a level above everyone else. Since the break, the Brewers have as many sweeps (four) as total losses (four)." Want great stories delivered right to your inbox?
