Kavitha leads Telangana Jagruthi's Maha Dharna against notices to KCR
Telangana Jagruthi, led by MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha, staged a Maha Dharna at Dharna Chowk, Indira Park in Hyderabad on Wednesday (June 4, 2025) against the Justice PC Ghosh Commission of Inquiry's notices to former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao. She alleged that the notices were part of a political vendetta targeting KCR.
Speaking at the venue of the protest, Ms. Kavitha questioned the rationale behind the notice, asking what wrong KCR had done, particularly in providing water to parched lands and positioning the State at the top in development. She emphasized the magnitude of the Kaleshwaram project, highlighting its extensive infrastructure, including 21 pump houses, 15 reservoirs, and 200 km of tunnels.
Ms. Kavitha accused the Congress government of conspiring against the project, which she claimed would provide water to nearly 40 lakh acres and turn Telangana green. She alleged that the State government prioritized commissions and contractors over the State's interests.
The BRS MLC demanded that the Congress government in the State write to the Centre to stop the Godavari-Penna linkage project, alleging it was an attempt divert Telangana's water to Andhra Pradesh. She criticised State Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders for not questioning Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu's alleged water theft and expressed disappointment over the silence of the party leaders, including MP Etala Rajender.

Bhatti Vikramarka Vows to Turn Palamuru's Drylands Green with Timely Completion of Lift Irrigation Project
Mahabubnagar: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka reiterated the Telangana government's firm commitment to completing the long-delayed Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme and transforming the parched lands of Mahabubnagar into fertile agricultural zones. Speaking at a massive public meeting after laying foundation stones for power infrastructure projects worth ₹72 crore in Moosapet mandal of Devarakadra constituency, the Deputy CM accused previous governments of neglecting the region and misleading people with hollow promises. Bhatti Vikramarka laid the foundation for one 132/33 kV substation and twelve 33/11 kV substations, signaling the government's intent to improve power supply to rural and farming communities. He announced that all necessary funds for completing the irrigation project—including for resettlement, rehabilitation, and land acquisition—will be released without delay. He cited the approval of ₹70 crore for the Uddandapur R&R package as evidence of the government's sincerity. He sharply criticized the previous BRS regime, questioning why the Palamuru-Rangareddy project, launched in 2015 with a foundation stone laid by then CM K. Chandrashekhar Rao, remained incomplete even after ten years. He condemned the symbolic activation of pumps just before elections as nothing more than a publicity stunt and stated that the Congress-led administration, under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, is now working with a genuine people-centric approach. The Deputy CM also highlighted key welfare initiatives being rolled out by the government. He noted that 4.5 lakh houses are being constructed under the Indiramma Housing Scheme with an allocation of ₹22,500 crore. For Devarakadra alone, 3,500 houses have been sanctioned. Other major schemes include 24x7 free power supply to farmers, free 200 units of domestic electricity to 50 lakh households, free RTC travel for women, and the launch of the 'Rajiv Yuva Vikasam' scheme to support five lakh unemployed youth. He also announced the ₹12,600 crore 'Indira Solar Girijana Vikasam' for the benefit of tribal communities through solar pumps, borewells, and cultivation support on 6.7 lakh acres. At Nawabpet in Jadcherla constituency, Bhatti Vikramarka laid the foundation for a 132/33 kV substation with an outlay of ₹42 crore and sixteen 33/11 kV substations costing ₹54.37 crore. In his address, he slammed the previous government for betraying Palamuru and assured that the Congress government would set a new benchmark in governance. On this occasion, 200 sewing machines were distributed to minority women and Indiramma housing documents were handed over to beneficiaries. The event witnessed the participation of Ministers Jupally Krishna Rao, MLAs Anirudh Reddy, Madhusudan Reddy, and Megha Reddy, District Collector G. Vijayendra Boi, and senior officials from TRANSCO, TGSPSCDL, and other departments. DCCB Chairman Vishnu Vardhan Reddy was also present. Several development proposals including new hospitals, colleges, transformer repair centers, and trauma care units were also discussed during the meeting.

Vigilance sleuth suspended after issuing summons to Punjab Congress leader, AAP alleges nexus between them
CHANDIGARH: A day after the state vigilance bureau issued a summons to the Congress candidate for the Ludhiana (West) assembly seat Bharat Bhushan Ashu in connection with an alleged Rs 2,400 crore scam, the Punjab government suspended Jagatpreet Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police (Vigilance) at Ludhiana, claiming that he issued the summons in connivance with Ashu to benefit him in the ensuing bypoll. The summons issued by Jagatpreet Singh directed Ashu to appear for questioning on Friday. The summons related to a First Information Report (FIR) registered on January 8 in which Ashu and others were accused of cheating, criminal breach of trust, forgery, and conspiracy. The investigation was transferred to the Vigilance Bureau owing to the suspected involvement of government officials. The alleged scam pertains to 4.7 acres of land given to New Senior Secondary School in Sarabha Nagar at a subsidised rate strictly for educational purposes by the Ludhiana Improvement Trust (LIT) decades ago. However, during investigations it came to light that parts of this land are being illegally used for commercial activities. Additional Chief Secretary, (Home) Alok Shekhar, issued the order which states that Jagatpreet Singh has been placed under suspension with immediate effect under Rule 4(1) (a) of the Punjab Civil Services (Punishment and Appeal) Rules, 1970, for his "grave misconduct and dereliction of duty". Meanwhile, the state Congress leadership has trashed the allegations of a nexus between Ashu and the suspended police officer. Calling it a 'a calculated attempt to intimidate' Ashu ahead of the Ludhiana West bypoll, senior Congress leader and leader of the opposition Partap Singh Bajwa said, "It's clear that the AAP government first tried to use state machinery to scare Ashu into silence. Summons were issued to him by the Vigilance Bureau just weeks before polling—not as part of any genuine investigation, but as a crude, desperate tactic to gain political advantage." Bajwa questioned the intent behind the timing, calling it a 'desperate, dictatorial move' and a gross misuse of power. 'This is not governance; this is vendetta politics at its worst,' he said. "When their intimidation attempt backfired and public backlash intensified, the AAP shifted gears in a bizarre U-turn. In an unbelievable twist, Vigilance Bureau SSP Jagatpreet Singh—who had issued the summons to Ashu—was suddenly suspended," he said.

Social Media Uproar Follows Suspension of Bengaluru Top Cops
Bengaluru: Bengaluru police suspension, RCB victory parade stampede, political scapegoating, social media outrage, Karnataka government accountability, police governance crisisA wave of outrage has swept across social media platforms following the Congress-led Karnataka government's decision to suspend Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda and four other senior officers after the RCB victory parade stampede. The incident, which claimed 11 lives and injured over 30 people outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, has sparked a heated debate over accountability, governance, and the scapegoating of honest police officers. The stampede occurred during a felicitation event celebrating RCB's IPL 2025 victory, organised by the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), RCB, and event management firm DNA Entertainment Networks. Reports indicate that over two lakh fans gathered, leading to chaos due to poor crowd management. Despite warnings from police officials about potential risks, the event proceeded, allegedly under political pressure, resulting in a disaster that has left the city reeling. In the aftermath, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced the suspension of Commissioner Dayananda, Additional Commissioner of Police (West) Vikash Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Shekhar H, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Cubbon Park) Balakrishna C, and Inspector Girish A of Cubbon Park police station. The government cited 'dereliction of duty' as the reason, but this move has been met with fierce criticism online, with many accusing the administration of using the police as a scapegoat to deflect blame from its own failures. Netizens expressed outrage with one post labelling it "one of the darkest days in the history of the Karnataka Police." The suspension was criticised as an act of political cowardice, with accusations that the government was shielding reckless ministers who ignored police warnings about the event, prioritising its "fragile political image" over integrity and accountability. The sentiment was widely shared, with users describing Dayananda as a "people-centric, transparent, and accountable" officer who was unfairly scapegoated for the tragedy. Many called for Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar to resign, lamenting the state's corruption and expressing shame over the suspension of an efficient officer. Several hashtag trended as a show of solidarity for the suspended cops, reflecting widespread public frustration with the government's handling of the crisis. The controversy has also drawn sharp criticism from within the police fraternity. Former Bengaluru Police Commissioner Bhaskar Rao slammed the suspensions, stating they deflect attention from government failures. He directly blamed the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister for the incident. Rao's comments have fuelled further outrage online, with users questioning why the government, RCB, and KSCA have not faced similar scrutiny. "Who received RCB at HAL Airport? DKS… Who did photo ops at Chinnaswamy Stadium with RCB team and trophy knowing fully well that people had lost their lives? DKS… Who is being targeted?" a user wrote on social media platform X, referring to Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar. Many users argue that the government's involvement in facilitating the event, despite knowing the risks, makes it equally culpable.
