66 candidates mentored by Telangana ADG Mahesh Bhagwat among 459 selected in UPSC CAPF exam

Of the 459 candidates who qualified in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) Assistant Commandant Examination 2024, 66 were mentored by Telangana's Additional Director General (Law and Order) Mahesh M. Bhagwat, and his team.
Several of the candidates have secured top positions in the national merit list, including Shyam Yadav with an All India Rank (AIR) of 2; Shreyas S at AIR 5; Kuldeep Bishnoi at AIR 13; Aniket Tribhuvan at AIR 20; Riya at AIR 35, and Siddhesh Yeole at AIR 49, all within the top 50 ranks.
The exam results were declared by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Friday (June 13, 2025) with 459 candidates making it to the final selection list for recruitment into the CISF, CRPF, BSF, ITBP and SSB services.
From Telangana, the selected candidates mentored by Mr. Bhagwat include Pettam Abhinav Varma from Mancherial who secured AIR 138, Bhanoth Lakshmi Vara Prasad from Khammam with AIR 256, and N. Anil Kumar from Hyderabad who secured AIR 406. From neighbouring Andhra Pradesh, Sanmala Ajay from YSR Kadapa district secured AIR 355, said Mr. Bhagwat.
Collective mentorship
The senior police officer credited the collective mentorship provided by a group of distinguished officers and experts. He extended his gratitude to retired ADG BSF Sanjeev Sood, DIG CRPF M.A. Rizwan (a native of Hyderabad), DIG SSB D.N. Bhombe, Senior Commandant of CISF Pratap Punde posted at Pune Airport, CISF Deputy Commandant Rakesh, international relations expert Dr. Shailendra Deolankar from Maharashtra, and Indian Revenue Service officers Nitish Pathode (DC Customs, Ahmedabad) and Swachand Chavan, among others, for their support in grooming the candidates.

File Photo TIRUPATI: Indian space research organisation's Satish Dhawan Space centre (SDSC-SHAR) at Sriharikota in Tirupati district has been put on a high alert following a terror threat call received at the police command control centre at Chennai. Following an alert about the presence of terrorists near SDSC-SHAR, CISF personnel along with the police personnel rushed from Nellore and Tirupati districts, carried out an extensive search operation inside the SHAR premises on Monday. Offices and employees quarters were also thoroughly screened. Police personnel also carried out an extensive combing operation in the forest area abutting the space centre. Extensive searches were also carried out at the fishermen colonies located close to Sriharikota. Meanwhile, Indian coast guard also remained on a high alert and carried out patrolling exercises along the sea-routes close to the SDSC-SHAR. Following hours long searches carried out at the SDSC-SHAR space centre, the CISF and police personnel arrived at a conclusion that the terror threat was a hoax call. However, security forces continued to remain on a high alert and intensified manual frisking and vehicular checks at the space centre throughout the day.

Rohit Kumar, a mobile cover seller in Jharkhand, is winning plaudits after he cleared his NEET-UG 2025 exam, scoring 549 marks and securing an All India Rank (AIR) of 12,484 and a category rank of 1,312, news portal 'Pune Pulse' reported. Kumar ran a small cart selling mobile accessories during the day while preparing for one of India's toughest entrance exams late into the night. A video of Kumar speaking to a popular coaching institution's founder and CEO, Alakh Pandey, is doing the rounds on the internet. Sharing his daily routine, Kumar revealed that he did not give up on his shop to study but handled both simultaneously. 'I used to work all day selling phone covers and study till 3 am. Then, I would wake up at 7 am and go back to work,' he said, explaining the daily grind he went through for months. He further revealed that his father worked at a local vegetable market. His interest in pursuing a career in medicine sparked after he worked at a medical store during the COVID pandemic, he said. After his Class 12 Boards, he dropped out of college to focus on NEET. In a touching gesture, Pandey gifted Kumar a doctor's coat in the viral video. This year, Rajasthan's Mahesh Kumar secured AIR 1 in NEET UG with a percentile of 99.9999547 in the General category. Avika Aggarwal from Delhi NCT emerged as the female topper, scoring 99.9996832 percentile, and has secured NEET UG rank 5. Meanwhile, the Central Bureau of Investigation arrested two men from Maharashtra for allegedly deceiving NEET UG 2025 aspirants and their families by claiming they could manipulate scores, and charging Rs 90 lakh per candidate.
