Dewan Rakyat Sitting Begins On Monday, With Focus On Tabling MP13
KUALA LUMPUR, July 19 (Bernama) -- The tabling of the 13th Malaysia Plan (MP13) is the main focus of the Second Meeting of the Fourth Session of the 15th Parliament which opens from Monday until Aug 28.
Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul said the tabling of MP13 by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is also the Minister of Finance, is scheduled to take place in the second week of the Dewan Rakyat sitting on July 31.
MP13, which sets the direction for the country's development for 2026 to 2030, is the first by the MADANI Government under Anwar's administration as the 10th Prime Minister of Malaysia.
Anwar previously said the MP13 was formulated with a focus on the economic empowerment of the people through increased income, inclusive and sustainable economic structural reforms, as well as strengthening governance and efficiency in public service delivery.
Apart from that, it also emphasises regional justice, human capital development, and policy reforms to strengthen Malaysia's competitiveness at the global level in line with the principles of MADANI Malaysia.
In this regard, Johari said this Dewan Rakyat session would provide adequate debate time for Members of Parliament to discuss the contents of the MP13 while calling on all elected representatives to be professional and use the debate space well.
"We want the debate (session) to be more substantive and Members of Parliament should not politicise the situation so much that we drift too far.
"Members of Parliament need to stay focused on what issues we are discussing... how (they) can help the government by suggesting things that the government may have overlooked, that is our role," he told Bernama in an exclusive interview recently.

Malaysia's producer price index declined 4.2% in June 2025
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's Producer Price Index (PPI), which measures price changes at the producer level, went down further by 4.2 per cent in June 2025, after a 3.6 per cent decline in the previous month, said the Department of Statistics (DoSM) today. Its chief statistician Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin said all sectors registered year-on-year declines in June 2025, with mining and manufacturing sectors emerging as the primary contributors to the overall negative trend of the index. The mining sector declined by 8.0 per cent compared to -15 per cent in May 2025, affected by the declines in extraction of natural gas (-12.0 per cent) and extraction of crude petroleum (-6.7 per cent) indices. At the same time, the manufacturing sector went down by -4.3 per cent against 3.0 per cent in May 2025, contributed by significant downturns in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (-17.7 per cent) and manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products (-7.8 per cent) indices. - Bernama Trading ideas: TNB, Ekovest, Sapura Energy, Globetronics, Jentayu, Rhone Ma, Ecobuilt, Salcon, ETA, Polymer, CTOS

465 encroachment cases on federal lands since in last ten years
KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 465 encroachment cases have taken place on lands owned by the Federal Government from 2015 till May 2025, the Dewan Rakyat was told. Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani ( pic ), who is tasked with temporarily overseeing the Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Ministry, said these figures involved encroachment on Federal Government-owned land, which is a total of 215,406 hectares nationwide. 'For the case in Penang, 26 complaints involved encroachment on federal-owned land, which is 18 lots of land,' said Johari in Parliament on Monday (July 28). Johari said the Lands and Mines Department (JKPTG) director-general would coordinate joint programs with other enforcement agencies to address the issue of encroachment. According to Johari, notices under Section 425 of the National Land Code (Act 828) would be issued to encroachers. Johari also said to ensure that federal lands are not repeatedly encroached, the government will come up with a method that will involve ministries or the consumer department. 'Every federal-owned land has development plans based on the Malaysian Plan,' he said. 'But, developing the land is based on the priority and allocation given by the government,' added Johari.

BNM revises Malaysia's 2025 GDP growth projection to 4.0-4.8 pct
BNM)has revised Malaysia's 2025 GDP growth projection to between 4.0 per cent and 4.8 per cent from 4.5 per cent – 5.5 per cent previously.– Photo from KUALA LUMPUR (July 28): Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) has revised Malaysia's 2025 gross domestic product (GDP) growth projection to between 4.0 per cent and 4.8 per cent from 4.5 per cent – 5.5 per cent previously. The projection takes into account various tariff scenarios, ranging from continued elevation of tariffs to more favourable trade negotiation outcomes. In a statement today, the central bank said the forecast remains subject to uncertainties surrounding the global economy, both on the downside and the upside. 'Favourable trade negotiation outcomes, pro-growth policies in major economies, continued demand for electrical and electronic goods, and robust tourism activity could raise Malaysia's export and growth prospects,' it said. Meanwhile, BNM Governor Datuk Seri Abdul Rasheed Ghaffour said the Malaysian economy remains resilient despite global uncertainties, supported by the outcome of structural reforms undertaken over the years. 'The sustained strength in economic activity and moderate inflation provides a supportive environment to pursue structural reforms for a more resilient and competitive Malaysia in the future,' he said. According to the central bank, headline inflation is projected to remain moderate, averaging between 1.5 and 2.3 per cent in 2025, reflecting the more moderate cost and demand outlook since March 2025. 'Inflationary pressure from global commodity prices is expected to remain limited, contributing to moderate domestic cost conditions. In this environment, the impact of domestic policy measures is expected to remain contained,' it said. BNM noted that the global economic landscape has undergone considerable changes since the announcement of Malaysia's 2025 GDP growth forecast in Bank Negara Malaysia's Economic and Monetary Review in March 2025. It said the global growth outlook is affected by shifting trade policies and uncertainties surrounding tariff developments, as well as geopolitical tensions. 'As a small open economy, Malaysia's growth prospects will be shaped by these developments. It is to Malaysia's advantage that our economy is facing these external headwinds from a position of strength. 'The latest indicators, including advanced estimates for the second quarter growth, continue to point towards sustained strength in economic activity. Domestic demand has been resilient and will continue to support growth going forward,' it said. Favourable labour market conditions — particularly in domestic-oriented sectors — and policy measures will continue to underpin private consumption. Meanwhile, BNM said expansion in investment activity will be sustained by progress in multi-year infrastructure projects, continued high realisation of approved investments and catalytic initiatives under the national development plans. — BERNAMA TAGS: BNM, GDP, revised, tariff, global economy ZER ZER NII Monday , 28 July 2025 2025 Bank Negara Malaysia GDP projection
