'The one with the divine voice' - Malaysian legend Misha Omar to serenade fans at her solo concert on Nov 29 in KL

The Star10-07-2025
Malaysian legendary singer Misha Omar, popularly known as the 'Divine Voice', who is currently at the peak of her career, has now taken a step further.
At 43, and with over two decades of musical excellence under her belt, the three-time Anugerah Juara Lagu Best Vocalist has now announced her mega-solo concert. In a special media announcement on Thursday (July 10), Misha said that she will be staging her mega solo concert at the Mega Star Arena on Nov 29.
Many of her fans say her voice is just divine, and she has always been in the limelight since the new millennium. This time, Misha aims to party it out with her fans come November 29.
The renowned songstress and local legend recently returned to the spotlight with "Break", a stirring and emotional new single that marks her first-ever collaboration with Indonesian music legend Melly Goeslaw.
The amazing singer breathes life into "Break", a beautifully crafted composition by Melly Goeslaw, with musical arrangement by celebrated producer Tohpati.
"Break" also adds another meaningful entry to her rich catalogue, following last year's single "Masihkan Ada Rasa Itu". Yet beyond personal milestones, Misha sees this project as a celebration of the musical richness of the Nusantara region.
"Break" has been available for streaming and download since Friday, June 20, on all major platforms, including Apple Music, Spotify, and YouTube Music. It has an aptly named teaser for the new song -- Don't take a break— tune in to "Break".
And come Nov 29, Misha's super concert has been aptly named 'DiA Misha Omar'. The concert also comes after her stupendous success with her "Misha Omar Back To Basic" showcase in Petaling Jaya last year.
This year's concert is brought to fans by music and art house producers Double M Production together with Altus Prohouse as the managers for the "DiA Misha Omar" concert.
As the organiser, Double M Production emphasises that "DiA Misha Omar" is not a sequel to the showcase organized last December.
"The concert is instead a celebration of Misha's artistic journey, celebrating the music that remains fertile and a sign of appreciation for the support she has received for more than two decades throughout his career as an entertainer.
"'DiA Misha Omar' also marks a new phase of the entertainer's journey, where she does not always perform concerts - by her own choice," said the organisers.
"Getting to know Misha Omar, she is an entertainer who always likes something simple but leaves or prints great value behind every job she does.
"Just like the choice of title, this concert is about storytelling conveyed through his works and the 'black and white' of his 23-year journey in the art industry.
"The concert is also expected to be a moment to share sweet things with fans since the days of Bunga-Bunga Cinta until her latest single, Break," said the organisers.
Meanwhile, concert managers Altus Prohouse said that they will ensure that fans who attend enjoy satisfaction and new experiences that have never been obtained through Misha Omar's performance before.
"We will ensure something of quality, a great concert experience with a line-up of musicians and stage performances from the legendary Misha Omar at the best level at 'DiA Misha Omar', on the night of Nov 29.
"How it will go and what will happen, all of that will be answered when you become one of the real witnesses of 'DiA Misha Omar' at Mega Star Arena, Kuala Lumpur," said Miselyn Yee Siew from Altus Prohouse.
As for Misha, she said that this kind of concert is something that she has always wanted to do for her fans.
"It's not just about me alone, but about how the career struggle that has been going on for over 20 years has been meaningfully supported by industry players and fans," said Misha.
"Ironically, I never had a fan club, but with the power of the quality work given to me, with the fans' trust that I am still relevant to entertain them, and also my artistic journey that I have been able to endure to this day.
"It has been more than two decades of a journey for me. It is time for me to share that with my fans who have been the pillars of my strength. Join me for an unforgettable night on Nov 29," said Misha

#SHOWBIZ: Shaheizy Sam gains 30kg for 'Badak'

KUALA LUMPUR: A truly dedicated actor will go to great lengths to ensure their portrayal of a character on screen is as realistic as possible. Take, for instance, the remarkable transformation of Hollywood-calibre actor Christian Bale for his role as Trevor Reznik in the 2004 film, 'The Machinist'. Bale shed nearly 30kg through a strict diet regime to embody the character. Closer to home, Malaysian film enthusiasts will soon witness a stunning physical transformation by local actor Shaheizy Sam. Sam, a three-time ABPBH winner for Most Popular Star, underwent an incredible change for his new film, 'Badak'. To convincingly bring the character of Badak to life, Sam gained 30kg in the five months leading up to filming, achieved through a diet rich in sugar, fat, and fast food. What's more, the production companies, Clover Films, Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC), and Papahan Films, even waited an additional six months for Sam to lose the weight again. This was necessary for different scenes where Sam's character had to appear with a much thinner physique. Sam expressed his excitement at being allowed to challenge himself with such a drastic physical change, all to ensure the success of his character in 'Badak'. "I'm very happy because this is the first time I've been able to bring two different physical forms into one film," he said. "I believe this will distract the audience from the usual me. This step makes the character feel fresh and really boosts self-confidence." 'Badak' is directed by M Raihan Halim, following the success of his previous film, 'La Luna', which represented Singapore in the early nominations for the foreign film category at the Academy Awards. This new film aims to be a soul-stirring experience with stunning visuals. Interestingly, 'Badak' reunites M Raihan with Sam, who plays the titular role, and Wan Hanafi Su (who plays Abah), after their collaboration on 'La Luna' approximately two years ago. 'Badak' delves into themes of familial love, the transformative power of music, and the heroism found in unspoken affection. This Singapore-Malaysia-Indonesia collaboration is set to be screened in Malaysian cinemas on Oct 2, followed by Singaporean cinemas on Oct 16. Sam commented that his willingness to gain and then lose weight for the character of Badak demonstrates his dedication and passion for acting. "I prove that my passion for acting is still alive after 30 years," he said. M Raihan is notably optimistic about the cast entrusted with bringing the characters in 'Badak' to life. "I don't think it's an exaggeration when I say that there is only one person disciplined and dedicated enough to play the character of Badak," he said. "That individual is Sam. We had so much fun working together on 'La Luna' that I knew I wanted to continue working together on something more challenging and scarier! "'Badak' is a real emotional journey. I'm glad not only Sam is there, but also Aida Amron, Kahoe Hon, and the one and only Ayah Wan (Wan Hanafi Su) to go through this experience together." 'Badak' narrates the emotional journey of the titular character, a deaf single father whose life revolves around his daughter, Mirah. Badak raises Mirah with immense love and dignity. However, their quiet routine is disrupted when Mirah suddenly becomes a hip-hop star. As their tranquil world intersects with the loud world of music, Badak must bridge the ever-widening gap, not just in terms of sound, but also spiritually. 'Badak' promises a heartwarming and thought-provoking cinematic experience, celebrating the strength of family, the pursuit of dreams, and a true love that transcends all else and touches the soul. 'Badak' is produced in collaboration with Sinemart Indonesia, Juita Viden, One Tree Holdings, ACT 2 Pictures, and Dropkick.

From kopitiam to cool: How the white tank top became a style staple for men

Celebrities like Glen Powell and Jeremy Allen White have been incorporating the white tank top look. Photo composite: Instagram/Glen Powell, Calvin Klein As a man in Malaysia, you might feel a twinge of apprehension about putting on a white sleeveless top. Why? Because this humble piece of clothing, also know locally as a singlet, has long been linked to the image of a retiree idling at the local kopitiam – more laid-back than fashion-forward. Celebrities, however, are reclaiming the white tank top, turning it into a symbol of cool. Paired with tailored trousers, layered under blazers or worn solo with confidence, the white tank top is no longer just off-duty loungewear. It is now a definitive style statement. Last week, the latest Superman, David Corenswet, shared a photo of himself in a white tank top. He posted it together with a shot of Nicholas Hoult in a matching look, with the caption jokingly accusing his co-star (who plays Lex Luthor) of stealing his look. While it was more of a tongue-in-cheek nod to their on-screen rivalry, the pictures also reinforced the white tank top's rising status as a sleek, confident style staple for men. Jeremy Allen White wore one in a Calvin Klein campaign, while Timothee Chalamet showed off his bare arms in a similar style for a Chanel fragrance ad. Glen Powell, too, has shared photos of himself relaxing in a white sleeveless top. Timothee Chalamet showed off his arms in a fragrance campaign. Photo: Chanel If you are still doubtful, perhaps it shows your age. Young Malaysian artistes like Sky Iskandar and Sean Lee have made it something of a go-to for an easy, effortlessly cool off-duty vibe. Their trick? Wear a white tank top with open-toe sandals (which is also a big menswear trend right now), sneakers and just the right dose of confidence. Layering is also key to pulling the look together – throw on a breezy button-down shirt, a camp-collar top or a nice jacket to add structure without sacrificing comfort. During the Spring/Summer 2025 womenswear shows last year, the white tank top was everywhere on the runways. Major fashion labels like Gucci, Stella McCartney, Roberto Cavalli and Fendi all featured it on their models. So it is only natural that the men are now co-opting it for their own everyday stylish looks. Wear it with a jacket and tailored pants for a dressed-up look. Photo: Instagram/Sky Iskandar It also works as a holiday look – relaxed yet stylish enough to show you haven't given up on fashion. Photo: Instagram/Sean Lee Read more: Step up, guys! Let these stylish celebrities inspire your shoe game If you are still wondering what makes the white tank top so enduring, it is simplicity. It flatters a range of body types, works across styles – from streetwear to minimalist – and requires very little to make a statement. It is this versatility that has won over a new generation of style-conscious men. Ultimately, it is not just about wearing the tank top, but how you wear it. Or, to put it more poetically, such a look is all about the mindset. You just need the right attitude to truly pull it off. For Malaysians, think less 'uncle' and more 'cool leading man'.
