The Pat McAfee Show could be coming to Steelers training camp, thanks to Aaron Rodgers
Intense positional battles may not be the only excitement at Steelers training camp this year — as Aaron Rodgers invited Pat McAfee to host his show live in Latrobe.
On Tuesday's episode of The Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers asked McAfee to come to Latrobe and 'do a little live show at training camp with the Steelers.' Here's how he responded:
'Maybe we should go do a training camp,' McAfee said. 'I don't know if we're allowed — that would have to be approved by the Steelers. I think the Steelers would approve that.'
Tone Digs, a co-host on the show, chimed in and said Steelers Senior Director of Communications Bert Lauten approved it. That led to McAfee all but confirming the event:
'Alright, we will.'
McAfee, a yinzer through and through, has a proven track record of Steel City entertainment — as evident by his successful Big Night AHT in Pittsburgh show.
McAfee has done live shows all over the country — and if Rodgers gets his way, Steelers fans may soon have a front-row seat at training camp.

Aaron Rodgers Sends Steelers Sneaky T.J. Watt Message Amid Retirement Announcement
Aaron Rodgers Sends Steelers Sneaky T.J. Watt Message Amid Retirement Announcement originally appeared on Athlon Sports. For this final Aaron Rodgers season to work, he needs every Pittsburgh Steelers force to be all hands on deck. Advertisement Thus, the new Steelers QB's sneaky message about T.J. Watt issued as part of Rodgers' blockbuster retirement announcement on Tuesday. If the Steelers are really "loading up'' to make a run? They need their pivotal defensive guy to be happy at least as much as their pivotal offensive guy is. So ... During a Tuesday appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show'' as the QB revealed that he is "pretty sure" he will retire after he spends the 2025 season with the Steelers, Rodgers also snuck in a subtle message to the Steelers regarding Watt's holdout wish contract extension. "Once we get our Hall of Fame outside rush-backer signed, you're talking about another guy who's a leader, not just by his example, but by his words," Rodgers said. Advertisement He was talking about Watt. He is talking to the Steelers. Pass rushers have enjoyed a massive jump in the market this NFL offseason. Maxx Crosby, Myles Garrett and eventually Micah Parsons and Trey Hendrickson are all examples of new contracts reaching up near $40 million annually for the position. Watt now wants a slice of the pie, too. ... and that is presently a problem. Watt, who is entering the final year of a four-year $112 million contract, was absent from offseason sessions as he campaigns for a new deal. The former Defensive Player of the Year previously had the record for the highest-paid contract at his position when he signed his current deal in 2021. This season, without an extension, he'll make $21.05 million on salary and cost $30.4 million total on the cap. Advertisement Watt, 30, is entering his ninth season in the league and remains one of the game's best defensive players. In 2024, he totaled 11.5 sacks and a league-leading six forced fumbles. He has, over the years, led the league in sacks a record three times and owns four First Team All-Pro honors to go with his 2021 DPOY. There is no question that Pittsburgh wants to keep him here and keep him happy. And now we know that Rodgers wants that very same thing. Steelers' DeShon Elliott Reacts To Patrick Queen 'Growing Pains'
Steelers' DeShon Elliott Reacts To Patrick Queen 'Growing Pains' originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Pittsburgh Steelers had a strong start through 14 weeks in the 2024 season. They entered the final quarter of the regular season with a 10-3 record and firmly in the mix to win the AFC North and host a playoff game. Advertisement But the wheels sputtered off in their final four contests, resulting in a four-game losing streak where the defense gave up 27 or more points in three of those games, trend that continued into their AFC Wildcard loss to the Baltimore Ravens. Clearly that spelled a significantly challenging period for the Steelers defense. A team built on the backbone of a talented defense could not rely on that identity through the most important month of their campaign. In the months following that collapse there has been plenty of time to assess the damage and strategize for a better path forward. It also also provided some reflection for players and their teammates. Safety DeShon Elliott recently spoke out, sharing a brutally honest assessment of his teammate Patrick Queen who struggled in his role as a primary communicator for this unit. Instead of issuing blame, Elliott focused on his belief in Queen improving next season. Advertisement "The player that he's capable of being; he didn't play up to his standards," he told Brian Batko of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "Being one of my really good friends, both in our first year in the defense — it's not something I'm trying to blame it on, but throughout the season, you grow, and there are growing pains… "I know he'll be better this year, for sure. There's nothing really negative you can say about it." Queen shared his own take on his performance, falling in line with what his friend and teammate of three seasons (deriving from their time with the Ravens) found. 'I'm always going to be searching and looking for more that I can do, trying to be the best player I can be for my team and for myself. I didn't do that last year. That's what really aggravated me this whole offseason.' Advertisement Queen was a major get for the Steelers last offseason. But his production dipped across the board, finishing with only one sack and 65 solo tackles after posting 84 a year ago. Pittsburgh needs him to find the right gear for this season in order for this defense to get back on track. Perhaps some extra motivation after last year's lackluster results will be just what he needs to accomplish that. Related: Aaron Rodgers Sends Steelers Sneaky T.J. Steelers Announce Three-Year Deal for DeShon Elliott
Steelers Announce Three-Year Deal for DeShon Elliott originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Safety DeShon Elliott is coming off his strongest individual season as an NFL player. In his first campaign with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Elliott recorded a career-high 108 tackles (breaking triple digits for the first time in the process), in addition to four tackles for loss, one interception, six passes defended, two forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries. Advertisement Elliott clearly impressed the Steelers' coaching staff and front office, as the franchise made it one of their offseason priorities to lock him up for future seasons. NFL Network's Tom Pelissero previously reported on June 15 that Elliott and the Steelers had agreed on a two-year extension to his current contract worth $12.5 million. That was not the case, however, as the Steelers announced on Tuesday that Elliott signed a new three-year deal with the team. According to a release, financial terms of the contract have not been disclosed. That year, he made 82 tackles, caught one interception and defended seven passes, which remains a career high. Advertisement When it comes to Elliott's tenure with the Dolphins, what he will be most remembered for is a shot he took at the team during an episode of the Punch Line Podcast with Marlon Humphrey posted in November 2024. "Last year, I was playing for a team that was soft as [expletive]," Elliott said. "There were some guys who were tough, but for a majority of the team, there were not mentally tough individuals." Originally a sixth-round (No. 190 overall) pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, Elliott has also had stints with the Baltimore Ravens (2018-2021) and Detroit Lions (2022) during his seven-year professional football career. He is credited with 395 tackles, four interceptions, five forced fumbles and 3.5 sacks in 72 total NFL games (including 64 starts). Elliott played three years of college football at Texas, where he was a unanimous All-American in 2017, prior to being drafted by the Ravens.
