Brooklyn's free Paramount+ Movie Nights are back this summer—here's the full lineup

Time Out19-05-2025
The season of free outdoor movies is happily upon us and along with all of the gratis screenings that Paramount will be hosting at Bryant Park this summer, the streamer will also be back at four of Brooklyn's most iconic outdoor spaces with a whole lineup of free entertainment all summer long.
Paramount+ Movie Nights in Brooklyn is back for the 2025 season, co-hosted by Brooklyn Magazine, and it's bringing with it 16 free weekly screenings in four prized public spaces across the borough: McCarren Park, Fort Greene Park, Coney Island and Prospect Park. Running from June 13 through August 27, this year's free movie lineup includes beloved high-school flicks like Clueless and Mean Girls, animated favorites like The Smurfs and The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie, and action-packed adrenaline pumpers like Gladiator II and Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade.
All films will begin shortly after sundown, and there will be complimentary popcorn and candy provided for RSVP holders at screenings (first come, first served while supplies last). Due to their al fresco nature, movies may be cancelled in the case of inclement weather, so definitely check BKMag's social media before attending.

ITV One Night: Full cast list and when it will be on TV

One Night was originally released on Paramount+ in November 2023 but was removed from the platform in February 2024. Now all six episodes of the Australian programme will be available to watch again on ITV and ITVX. The series stars Whittaker, Nicole da Silva and Yael Stone, who play three women whose bond was all but destroyed by the traumatic events of one night 20 years ago. The synopsis for the series says: "Since then, Simone (Nicole da Silva) has harboured secret hopes of becoming a novelist but most of her haphazard attempts have been shoved into her bottom drawer. "Now, at the age of 40, she has finally written the one story she could never get out of her mind, and her debut manuscript has become an unexpected overnight success. "But it soon becomes apparent that the devastating story the book tells doesn't exclusively belong to her. "At the heart of Simone's novel is a tragedy which also happened to Tess (Jodie Whittaker) and Hat (Yael Stone), her two childhood best friends." The Radio Times adds that this threatens to derail their friendships while stirring up perpetrators who "want to make it all go away." Speaking with the publication on what drew her to the series, Whittaker said: "Emily Ballou's writing was absolute poetry. "The use of our younger versions within scenes, of flashbacks and memory; the celebration and complication of friendship; the exploration of trauma… I found that intoxicating." Stranger Things creators are reportedly eyeing deal with Paramount

Matt and Ross Duffer, creators of Netflix 's Stranger Things, are reportedly in advanced negotiations to move to Paramount to create new exclusive TV shows and films. The potential move would see the Duffer Brothers reunite with former Netflix executives Cindy Holland and Matt Thunell, now heading streaming and TV studios at Paramount, respectively. Paramount reportedly aims for the siblings to focus on developing tentpole movies, marking a significant coup for the company following its merger with Skydance. Despite the potential move, the Duffer Brothers still have several unreleased titles with Netflix, including The Boroughs and Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen, and are expected to confirm a Stranger Things spin-off. The fifth and final season of Stranger Things is scheduled for release in three batches later this year, with episodes dropping on November 26, Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve.
