Arsenal defender Lewis-Skelly ‘destined' for World Cup place
Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour believes Myles Lewis-Skelly can become England's starting left-back for the 2026 World Cup.
The 18-year-old has recently been included in Thomas Tuchel's squad for the upcoming international fixtures against Andorra and Senegal.

On his senior England debut against Albania back in March, the left-back announced himself at Wembley Stadium with his first goal for the Three Lions.
In an exclusive with The Football Faithful, in association with NetBet Sports Betting, Parlour claimed the teenager has all the ingredients for success.
'With a debut like he had, maybe he is destined for the top at international level,' the former England player declared.
'Myles has a great team around him, a very supporting family and he is well grounded and knows he needs to keep learning and listening to the coaches and working really hard.

'He has this position now, so hopefully he can keep it for the next World Cup.'
Naturally, Lewis-Skelly is far from the finished article. The Englishman has only made 39 senior appearances and, while gaining several plaudits for his industrious performances and fearless approach to matches, he hasn't been faultless in his maiden campaign.
The teenager has been sent off twice in 2025, although his red card against Wolverhampton Wanderers was later rescinded. The full-back also received criticism for his display against Paris-Saint Germain in the Champions League semi-final.
At his tender age, every mistake can be used as lesson, which Parlour was quick to corroborate.

'He did have a tough game in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final, so he must learn from that,' Parlour said.
'He just has to mature well, keep his feet on the ground, listen to Mikel [Arteta] at team level and Tuchel at international level and keep working hard at his game.
'Consistency is key to reaching the next level, but he has made a very bright start,' Parlour added.
The defender is the latest success story off the Hale End production line. Bukayo Saka has famously flourished from an Arsenal academy prospect into one of England's most important players in recent years, with the likes of Ethan Nwaneri and Lewis-Skelly hoping to follow suit.

Hale End is widely-regarded as one of the best academies in the country, with Parlour believing it to be the finest.
'You look at the recent talent in Saka, Nwaneri and Lewis-Skelly and with Max Dowman coming through a well, Arsenal are showing the investment in the academy is proving it's worth.
'It's so hard to bring through players and give them first-team exposure. The step up from academy and playing in the U18 and U21 leagues is the biggest step a player can make, but these three lads have made it look easy.
'And this is down to the coaches and team at the club, who ensure they adapt well.'

Canada coach Jesse Marsch condemns U.S. treatment, ‘lack of respect' for Ukraine
Canada men's national team coach Jesse Marsch offered his support for Ukraine and the Ukrainian national team on Friday while also taking aim once again at United States President Donald Trump. 'As an American, the treatment that we have given the President of the Ukraine and the lack of respect really bothers me. Without having to know what it's like to go through something like what these players, this coach and this federation has been through, I am just really excited to be able to show our support,' Marsch said in his opening remarks at a Friday morning event with the Canada Ukraine Foundation. Advertisement Marsch is likely referencing a tense and fiery exchange between Trump and Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Feb. 28 that made global headlines. Marsch has previously taken aim at Trump, saying in February that Trump should 'lay off the ridiculous rhetoric about Canada being the 51st state; as an American, I'm ashamed of the arrogance and disregard we've shown one of our historically oldest, strongest and most loyal allies.' Due to the Russian invasion, the Ukrainian national team is required to play its matches in neutral venues. 'If you think about the challenges that the players from Ukraine have been through, they haven't played a home match in several years, they've had to play World Cup qualifiers on foreign soil, they've had players playing professionally and internationally with the concern of the safety of their country and their family and their friends,' Marsch said. 'In general, the ability for us to have empathy and sympathy for everything that their team, their nation, their team, their players have gone through is really important at a time like this.' Ukraine's upcoming home matches in UEFA Group D of 2026 World Cup qualification do not yet have a location. 'As the Canadian national team coach, to show how much we are behind them, we are with them, that we want to do everything we can,' Marsch said, noting that one of the beauties of international football is that it 'can take on so much more than what the sport is.' Ukraine is in Toronto to play Canada in the Canadian Shield friendly tournament on Saturday. Ukraine will play its second match of the Canadian Shield friendly tournament on Tuesday against New Zealand, while Canada plays Ivory Coast also on Tuesday. 'It's really a pleasure and an honour to show that friendship and respect are at the core of everything we try to do in this sport,' Marsch said.

Tottenham fires coach Postecoglou despite winning Europa League to end trophy drought
LONDON (AP) — Tottenham fired manager Ange Postecoglou on Friday, two weeks after he won the Europa League and the club's first trophy in 17 years. Tottenham beat Manchester United 1-0 in the Europa League final, fulfilling his promise that he 'always' delivers silverware in his second season. But, until then, Spurs had a dismal season as it finished 17th in the Premier League. 'Following a review of performances and after significant reflection, the club can announce that Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties,' Tottenham said in a statement. Postecoglou spent two seasons at Tottenham after joining from Celtic in June 2023. Spurs made a bright start in the Australian's first season, playing an attack-minded and entertaining style of football that led to high-scoring wins and losses. It narrowly missed out on a Champions League place by finishing fifth in 2023-24, but then saw a major dip in results this past season. It's 17th-place finish was its lowest since the Premier League era began in 1992. Tottenham lost 22 of 38 games and ended the campaign just one position above the relegation places. It meant that securing the club's first piece of silverware since 2008, while also qualifying for next season's Champions League, didn't save Postecoglou from losing his job. 'It is crucial that we are able to compete on multiple fronts and believe a change of approach will give us the strongest chance for the coming season and beyond,' the club said. 'This has been one of the toughest decisions we have had to make and is not a decision that we have taken lightly, nor one we have rushed to conclude. We have made what we believe is the right decision to give us the best chance of success going forward, not the easy decision.' The Europa League trophy made Postecoglou only the third Spurs coach to taste European success, provoking an outpouring of affection from a previously split fanbase. He even produced a mic-drop moment during the victory parade in front of an estimated 220,000 people, when he declared 'season three is better than season two.' But Spurs chairman Daniel Levy thought differently and dismissed the man to deliver him a much-craved trophy. ___ AP soccer:
