Top WWE star 'suspended indefinitely over disgusting actions' on Raw
WWE has announced GUNTHER has been 'suspended' over his actions on the Raw after WrestleMania.
Just 48 hours after losing the World Heavyweight Championship to Jey Uso in Las Vegas, the Ring General retaliated by targeting commentators Michael Cole and Pat McAfee on the Netflix show.
He unleashed a brutal beatdown on both men, with McAfee being replaced at the desk by SmackDown star Joe Tessitore, while Cole returned to the booth.
As part of the ongoing storyline, Raw general manager Adam Pearce has announced action being taken against the former champ.
He said: 'After conferring with representation of all three men, GUNTHER has been fined an undisclosed amount, and suspended indefinitely.'
The in-character video means the Austrian star could be off screen for a period of time, although WWE could still have him appear unannounced to continue his reign of terror.
In the video announcing the suspension, Pearce said: 'By now, everyone has seen what happened on Raw between GUNTHER, Michael Cole and Pat McAfee.
'First thing's first, Pat and Cole are OK. Pat's in Green Bay covering the NFL Draft, and Cole's doing what he always does, preparing for Raw in a Hall of Fame way.
'As for you, GUNTHER. Your actions were reprehensible and disgusting. You will never again put your hands on a member of my announce team, because there ain't no heat in beating up an announcer.
'You're frustrated because you lost the World Heavyweight Championship to Jey Uso, and I get that, but if you wanna blame someone then park your ass in front of a mirror and ask the person staring back at ya.'

Speaking on his own Pat McAfee Show, the former NFL star played up to the storyline and insisted he initially feared 'something in the neck' as a result of the attack.
'There are security and there is nobody [helping] as I'm getting my life choked out of me. What am I supposed to do? I found out quickly there isn't much to do when GUNTHER has that thing on you. I felt my body slithering away. You kind of disappear from existence,' he said.
'Everybody who said they are happy it happened to me, I hope we meet in person so I can punch you in the f***ing face. I was sticking up for Michael Cole. What happens next? You tell me.
'I'm bout it, bout it for whatever. If you think choking me out is going to end me, you're wrong. You think you're going to bury me publicly, and I'm gonna quit showing up? You're wrong.'
GUNTHER could be on a collision course with McAfee when he's back on screen.
Shortly before his match with Jey, the former champ opened up on people's doubts – including his own – about their storyline, and urged his opponent to 'step up'. More Trending
'[I'm] always very proud of the work I do – I don't know about Jey! I think we're in a very good spot,' GUNTHER told Metro.
'There is a lot of people that followed me before WWE, they wanna see me in those technical ring matches, but in WWE, that's not really what it's about, it's about more aspects.
'You can't deny it, think about Jey whatever you want, but most people – I was under the ring at Madison Square Garden ready to jump that guy, and that floor was shaking when he made his entrance.'

LEE WILKIE: Dundee United must not lose Scottish heart
Dundee United and Jim Goodwin have a crucial summer transfer window. But they must be careful. They face a difficult second season in the Premiership after over-achieving on return to the top flight. You only have to look over the road to see what can happen in the next campaign. There is a squad overhaul set to begin. Key players left at the end of last season and will need replaced. The first player expected to arrive is Moldovan international Iurie Iovu. Goodwin's record over the past few seasons of plucking players out of Europe has been good. Hopefully this is another gem. However, I do hope they don't go losing the Scottish heart to the squad. Guys like Declan Gallagher, Ross Docherty and Kevin Holt were crucial in fostering the mentality that made United so hard to beat last season. All three of those have left, Glenn Middleton is also heading for pastures new. They were all key men last term. All four of them Scottish, too. Replacing them will be hard but I do hope there is a homegrown feel to the replacements coming in. It's a trend I have noticed across the division – Hibs sign an Austrian keeper, Aberdeen go for a few Australians and a German defender, Hearts are signing Norwegians, Belgians and Greeks. We'll see a mix of all nationalities in the Premiership next term. But fewer Scottish players isn't a good sign. Just look at the national team right now, there are not many players from the top flight featuring for Scotland. And we're not exactly excelling on the international front either. From Dundee United's perspective, they may feel they have to shop abroad to be able to compete again in the top six. What I hope they haven't thrown away is that ability to grind out results. I think you really need guys that know the league to help do that. Gallagher and Docherty in particular were leaders in driving the kind of mentality that pushed the Tangerines back into Europe. I was a little surprised to see Gallagher going back to the Championship with Ross County but that does show the ambition in Dingwall to come straight back up. He could have stayed in the Premiership and I've no doubt Docherty could do as well if the right offer is there. United now have to find others who can do that and that is not easy. Everything is about balance for any football manager. Last season had a good balanced squad in terms of quality, experience, youth and variety. It's going to be tough for Jim Goodwin to rebuild that this time around. But people will expect United to kick on. They overachieved last season but now fans expect improvement again. That's the nature of the game. They have set themselves such a high standard it's going to be tough to live up to it. It's a crucial, crucial summer at Tannadice.

Reports: Falcons expect QB Kirk Cousins to be at minicamp
June 9 - Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins is expected to attend Atlanta's mandatory minicamp starting Tuesday, according to multiple reports Monday. Cousins has expressed a desire to find a starting role elsewhere after finishing last season as the backup to Michael Penix Jr. However, the Falcons have been reluctant to trade him without getting a significant return. Atlanta signed Cousins to a four-year, $180 million contract with $100 million guaranteed before the 2024 season, then selected Penix with the eighth overall pick in the draft. The Falcons started last season 6-3, but a nosedive Cousins told NFL Network coincided with a shoulder injury prompted Atlanta coach Raheem Morris to turn the offense over to Penix with three games left in the regular season. Penix went 1-2. Cousins, who turns 37 in mid-August, attended several of Atlanta's voluntary organized team activities in late May though he did not practice. Penix is the team's No. 1 quarterback entering the new season. The Falcons also have Easton Stick and Emory Jones on their depth chart. Cousins threw for 3,508 yards, 18 touchdowns and a career-high 16 interceptions in 14 starts last season. JD Vance hatches plan to bring Bengals holdout Trey Hendrickson back to Cincinnati... but VP wants to know if he's a Republican or Democrat
Calling Cincinnati Bengals holdout Trey Hendrickson a 'generational talent,' Vice President JD Vance hatched a plan to preserve his favorite NFL team's defense by getting the All-Pro edge rusher back to the Jungle. 'It's very hard to get a guy like that,' Vance told podcaster Theo Von of Hendrickson, a 30-year-old defensive end coming off his best NFL season. 'Like, I'm a big football fan, but edge rushers have become, it's almost where left tackles were 10 or 15 years ago when everyone realized there's this really underpaid position that you got to have.' With that in mind, the native of southwest Ohio made a pitch to Hendrickson that relies largely on the Florida Atlantic product's political persuasion. 'Here's what I have to say to Trey, if you're watching the show: If you're a Republican, I will show up to a Bengals game and take a photo with you if you sign with the Bengals,' Vance said. 'And if you're a Democrat, I'll stay the hell away.' Hendrickson has vowed not to play or participate in offseason practices without a new contract. Mandatory minicamp begins on Tuesday. The Bengals have faced a salary cap crunch since signing quarterback Joe Burrow's favorite targets Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins to contract extensions totaling $276 million this offseason. Currently the two star receivers account for less than 17 percent of the team's cap figure, but that figure balloons to more than 20 percent in 2028, making a long-term deal for Hendrickson a bit more complicated. Trey Hendrickson has been vocal about his contract situation and is digging in for a long fight In fact, the Bengals needed to cut veteran linebacker Germaine Pratt on Monday, making the 29-year-old the team's latest cap casualty. Of course, those details don't matter much to Vance, who, like most fans, just wants to see his favorite players back in uniform. 'Just sign with the Bengals because we got a chance, man,' Vance said. 'I say this every year, but with Burrow and Ja'Marr Chase, if we get our defense and our offensive line, we could have a true championship run.' And Hendrickson isn't the only defensive player currently on the sidelines. First-round pick Shemar Stewart, a defensive end from Texas A&M, and second-round pick Demetrius Knight II, a former South Carolina linebacker, are both in team meetings, but sat out of drills during organized team activities (OTAs) because they decided against signing the requisite waivers. Meanwhile, defensive end and hometown favorite Sam Hubbard retired, leaving the Bengals with another hole on defense. The inconsistent Bengals missed the playoffs at 9-8 last season while surrendering 348.3 yards per game – more than all but seven NFL teams. Cincinnati also surrendered a touchdown on 67.9 percent of opponent's red-zone possessions, the third-worst rate in the NFL Despite the absence of Hendrickson and the inactivity of Stewart and Knight, new Bengals defensive coordinator Al Golden was pleased with his other players' efforts during OTAs. 'We can push the limits of our core fundamentals,' he told reporters in Cincinnati last week. 'We can try to see how many concepts we can efficiently get to, which I think is important, and then draw on that in training camp. 'Although it's not as physical or perhaps as long as training camp, this does serve as a springboard and great foundation for us. Without this segment, it's hard to start off where you want, so that's why there's urgency right now for us.' Specifically, Golden is working to teach young defensive players the assignments of their teammates so that everyone is on the same page whenever on-field adjustments are made. 'When you sit in on those unit meetings and you look at the pre-practice work and all the stuff that they're getting as a unit, it's a very hungry group,' head coach Zac Taylor told reporters. 'Al's done a great job setting the standard in that room. The position coaches have followed suit, so I'm really excited about the direction that group's heading.' Golden previously served as the Bengals' linebackers coach in 2020 and 2021, when he worked directly with Pratt, before moving on to Notre Dame for three seasons.
