Atletico Madrid have terminated Saul's contract
Credit: QualityAnd the ex-Spain international helped Atletico win LaLiga in 2021, Copa del Rey in 2013 and two Europa League trophies ever since breaking into the first team in 2012.
The popular No8 only spent one year away from Spain as he was loaned out to Chelsea in 2021.
However, the Spaniard failed to replicate the same success at Stamford Bridge as he only managed a mere one goal in 23 appearances.
The central midfielder fell out of favour under Atleti manager Diego Simeone last season as he was loaned out to Sevilla - his second loan stint in Spain after spending the 2013-14 campaign at Rayo Vallecano.
That is none other than Saul Niguez, who is now heading to Trabzonspor.
According to TRT Spor, the Turkish Super Lig outfit have reached an agreement in principle with Saul.
Mundo Deportivo report the midfielder will be moving out of Madrid as a free agent after the club terminated his contract.
And now the Atletico hero is set to fly over to Turkey to put pen to paper.

Everton exploring moves for Jack Grealish and former Arsenal and England star
Everton are eyeing up some big signings before the Premier League season gets underway, with a loan move for Jack Grealish on their agenda. The Toffees have already brought in Thierno Barry from Villarreal and goalkeeper Mark Travers from Bournemouth but want to do plenty more business. With the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Abdoulaye Doucoure, Mason Holgate and Ashley Young all leaving on free transfers, the squad is looking quite thin. The Independent report that Grealish is on Everton's shopping list and they fancy their chances of bringing in the Manchester City man on loan. The £100m man is thought to want to stay in the north of England to maintain stability with his family and Everton think they can tempt him to their project under new ownership and in their new stadium. Manchester City may want to sell him on a permanent deal, though, as he clearly has no future under Pep Guardiola after not being taken to the Club World Cup this summer. As long as he get up to full fitness, Grealish would be seen as a key player with the Toffees, which he has not been at the Etihad. Grealish has also been linked with a return to former club Aston Villa and a switch to join Italian champions Napoli. TalkSPORT report that Everton are also tracking former Arsenal and England utility man Ainsley Maitland-Niles. The 27-year-old has been with Lyon since 2023, moving to the French club when his contract expired at the Emirates. He has played regularly for Lyon over the last two seasons, making 73 appearances in all competitions, but with the club in a perilous financial position, offers will be considered. Maitland-Niles won five caps for England in 2020 under Gareth Southgate and can play at full back and across midfield. More Trending A number of players have already left Lyon this summer, including Rayan Cherki to Manchester City, Lucas Perri to Leeds, and both Alexandre Lacazette and Said Benrahma going to Neom. The Toffees are also in talks over a deal for another of Les Gones' star players, negotiating a move for Malick Fofana. The 20-year-old Belgium international scored 11 goals in all competitions last season, with Lyon reportedly wanting around £40m for his signature. The versatile forward is also on the radar of Liverpool as their summer spending spree continues. Chloe Kelly incident that caused 'cocky gesture' controversy after Lionesses Euros win
Lionesses star Chloe Kelly has been on the end of some fierce criticism from the Spanish media after steering England to victory against Spain in the Euro 2025 final Chloe Kelly's celebration after her Euros-winning penalty triggered bitter criticism across the Spanish media, with some slamming her as 'cocky'. The Lionesses star netted the winning spot-kick in Switzerland on Sunday evening. And in the process, she ensured that Sarina Wiegman 's side would be returning with their European championship crown firmly in tow. And while her successful penalty triggered wild celebrations for her home nation, Kelly was not as popular in Spain. Members of the Spanish media slammed the Arsenal star for seemingly celebrating in front of Spain goalkeeper Cata Coll. They wrote: "This is unnecessary, my friend: Kelly's cocky gesture to Cata Coll after scoring the decisive penalty. The England specialist changed her run during her penalty celebration to get past the goalkeeper she had just beaten." Kelly, 27, has yet to speak out on her perceived 'cocky' celebration - but did explain her somewhat conventional run-up to her spot-kick that involved a skip and a jump. She said: 'To be honest, it started when I was at Everton, quite a few years ago now. "It's something that just works for me. I can't explain it too much. I actually spoke with one of the coaches the other day about it. 'It's just my routine that works for me. I take my time, I take my breath, and I'm confident in that. Taking a penalty normally would probably feel a bit weird to me. It's just my routine. Sometimes you miss, sometimes you score, but I was adamant I was not missing two on the bounce.' Meanwhile, she praised her teammates and boss Sarina Wiegman for making it back-to-back titles. She said: "I'm so proud to be English! ... Every girl out there with that dream: you can do it. Keep reaching for the stars." "I am so proud of this team,' Kelly added to BBC Sport. 'So grateful to wear this badge. So proud to be English. "Unbelievable. All the staff behind us and Sarina Wiegman - she has done it again! Unbelievable. It is going to be crazy. I hope the whole of England comes out to support us and shows their love to these girls as they deserve it." Despite the criticism from Spain, the celebrations continued once the Lionesses arrived back on home soil. They were given a warm welcome by supporters when they stepped off of their flight, while the team then received a red carpet reception at Downing Street on Monday.
