‘Andhra Pradesh set to lead South Asia in data revolution': Nara Lokesh
Speaking at the Investopia Global – Andhra Pradesh Summit, organised by the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board at a private hotel in Vijayawada on Wednesday, Lokesh outlined the State's ambitious plans to leverage artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technologies for economic advancement and improved public services.
Addressing a session on AI and data centers, he announced that South Asia's first 152-bit quantum computer will be unveiled in Amaravati in January 2026, a development expected to transform the region's technological ecosystem.
He highlighted Visakhapatnam's emergence as a data city, with several global companies expressing interest in establishing data centers in the coastal hub. 'Andhra Pradesh is at the forefront of embracing the data revolution, and we are ready to seize the opportunities it brings,' Lokesh asserted.
The IT Minister emphasised the need to modernise education to align with global technological advancements. The State is introducing AI and quantum computing courses in polytechnic, degree, and engineering curricula to equip students with cutting-edge skills.
'Transitioning from traditional education to advanced technologies like AI is challenging, but we are making transformative changes to our curriculum to meet global standards. These reforms aim to prepare Andhra Pradesh's youth for the demands of a digital economy,' the HRD Minister explained.
Lokesh underscored the government's commitment to using AI to enhance public services. Drawing from his observations during public outreach programmes, he noted the difficulties citizens faced in accessing basic land records. To address this, the State government has launched 'Mana Mitra', a WhatsApp-based governance platform that delivers 600 types of citizen services efficiently.

Speaking at the Telugu diaspora meet organised by APNRT at the OVIS Auditorium in Singapore, Lokesh emphasised the critical role of NRIs in rebuilding the State after five years of stagnation under the previous YSRCP regime. He said the coalition government, under Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu's leadership, is working to put Andhra Pradesh back on track. He also emphasised alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, promising to recover the State's losses from the past five years, with interest. Lokesh highlighted global trust in the 'CBN Brand' as a magnet for investments. Citing official data, he noted that in the financial year 2024–25, India received $81.04 billion in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), with Singapore accounting for approximately $14.94 billion, 19% of the total. He expressed confidence that directing a substantial share of these funds toward Andhra Pradesh could help transform it into a global economic hub, similar to Singapore. The minister invited NRIs from Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, Hong Kong, and Indonesia to invest in the State, assuring support through the Economic Development Board (EDB) for startups and industries.

Singapore: "Youare all aware of the extent to which Andhra Pradesh was devastated during the five-year YSRCP rule, and you can see how hard the coalition government is working for reconstruction. The global trust in Chandrababu is our capital," stated Minister for Education, IT and Electronics Nara Lokesh. Lokesh called upon the Telugu diaspora to promote opportunities within the state and attract investments. Minister Lokesh was the chief guest at the Telugu Diaspora meeting organised by APNRT at the OVUS Auditorium in Singapore. Addressing the gathering, Lokesh declared: "NRIs are our brand ambassadors; all NRIs must become partners in the state's development." He emphasized the crucial role of foreign investments in India's economy, noting that Singapore contributes a significant portion of these investments. "Of the total $81.04 billion in Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) India received in the 2024-25 fiscal year, approximately $14.94 billion came from Singapore, accounting for 19 percent of total FDI," he highlighted. "If a large share of these investments comes to AP, our state will become another Singapore," he added. Lokesh assured the Telugu community in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Jakarta and Bali that the government is there to support them in any hardship. "Through APNRT, we are not only resolving your issues but also working to protect our Telugu language, culture, and traditions," he said. He lauded the enthusiasm of the Telugu community in Singapore. "From landing at the airport to this diaspora meeting, wherever I look, I see Telugu people. I wondered if I was in Singapore or Simhachalam," he quipped. He playfully redefined the term NRI. "Everyone calls you NRIs, or Non-Resident Indians. But in my heart, you are always MRIs – Most Reliable Indians." Lokesh asserted that the TDP was founded for the self-respect of Telugus, which was upheld by the legendary actor and Sarvabhouma, late Sri Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao. He stated that with the Quantum Valley, the world will look towards AP. "Giants like TCS, Cognizant, ANSR, Satva, Sify, and Google are coming to AP. Prestigious educational institutions like SRM, VIT, and Amrita have already arrived, and BITS Pilani will soon be joining them." He highlighted skill development programmes to help people seize opportunities abroad. "We will also encourage MSME companies, as 80 percent of jobs worldwide come from MSMEs." He shared that Tata Group Chairman Chandrasekaran stated that 35 per cent of TCS employees are Telugus, which is why they are coming to AP.

He described Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) as Most-Reliable Indians (MRIs) as their role in the development of the homeland is significant. Speaking at the Telugu diaspora meeting organised by APNRT in Singapore on Sunday, Minister Lokesh emphasised that foreign investments are crucial to India's economy. He said that India received a total of Rs 6.73 lakh crore in foreign direct investments during the 2024-25 fiscal year, with approximately Rs 1.24 lakh crore coming from Singapore. He said that this accounts for 19% of the total FDI. "The global trust in Chandrababu Naidu is our investment. CBN (Chandrababu Naidu) is our brand. Let's promote the opportunities in our state to attract investments," Lokesh urged. Lokesh lauded the Telugu community's influence abroad, stating that NRIs are India's brand ambassadors. He urged all NRIs to partner in the state's development. "If a significant portion of the investments come to Andhra Pradesh, our state will become another Singapore," said Lokesh. The minister also announced the launch of APNRT 2.0, aimed at providing enhanced support to NRIs. He called for collective efforts to achieve a healthy, prosperous, and happy Andhra Pradesh, reinforcing the vision of a double-engine govt working under the leadership of Narendra Modi at the centre and Chandrababu Naidu in the state.
