Man charged with attempted stabbing in Bridgewater, N.S.

A man has been charged following an attempted stabbing on High Street in Bridgewater, N.S., on Saturday night. Bridgewater Police Services responded to a call around 10:40 p.m. on Saturday night to reports of a male attempting to stab another male, a news release said. Police say no injuries were sustained due to the reported incident. Police later located and arrested a male matching a description given to police in a room at the Bridgewater Motel. The weapon was also found in the room after police executed a search warrant. Brandon Goodwin was charged with: Assault with a weapon Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace Goodwin was remanded into custody and scheduled to appear in Bridgewater provincial court on Monday. THE CANADIAN PRESS/Doug Ives Durham police are searching for a suspect after multiple shots were fired at a home in Whitby on Monday. Police say officers were called to a home in the area of Maria and Annes streets, near Dundas Street West, just after 7 a.m., after the homeowners found bullet holes in their front door. The residents were home at the time of the shooting, but no one was injured. Police say officers found a number of shell casings on the scene, but no suspect description for the shooter was provided. Investigators are asking anyone with information or video or dashcam footage from the area of Gilbert Street West and Newman Crescent, and Annes to Frances streets, between the hours of midnight and 7 a.m., to contact them at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 1847, or Crime Stoppers anonymously.

(CTV Atlantic / Avery MacRae) A 38-year-old Eskasoni man is facing drug trafficking charges after the Nova Scotia RCMP seized narcotics from a residence in the community. Officers with the Eskasoni RCMP General Investigative Section, and general duty officers, executed a search warrant at a residence on Richard Avenue Wednesday, as part of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking. 'Officers safely arrested a man and seized a quantity of narcotic prescription pills and cash,' reads a news release from the Nova Scotia RCMP. Keith Geoffrey Denny has been charged with three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime.
