Roman Kemp savagely brands Simon Rimmer's Sunday Brunch fish pie 'the worst'
Roman Kemp has claimed that the worst pie he's ever eaten was made by Sunday Brunch presenter and chef Simon Rimmer, but it wasn't actually the star's cooking that was the issue
TV host Roman Kemp has opened up about his less-than-pleasant culinary experience on Channel 4's Sunday Brunch, where he was served a fish pie by chef Simon Rimmer.
While chewing the fat with singer Tom Grennan, 30, on their podcast Introducing About...You!, the comfort food chat led Roman, 32, to confess that the most disappointing pie he's ever tasted was one dished out by Simon during the programme – describing it as the 'worst bit of fish pie' he had ever encountered.
He explained how despite his affection for both Simon and co-host Tim Lovejoy, eating fish pie at the crack of dawn had put him off, saying: "The only reason why is that, Sunday Brunch, you're there for hours, so long. You're there for long. Love Tim, love Simon, but it's a long show and it's early."
Kemp revealed that when pressed for his thoughts on the dish while still reeling from the early hour, he candidly remarked, "It was 8am and I'm trying to stomach this fish pie and they came over and they said 'What do you think?' I hate this, I said, 'I didn't like it'."
Roman's startling admission comes after viewers heaped praise on a new change in Sunday Brunch's presenting team.
While usually the dynamic duo of Simon and Tim Lovejoy steer the ship, the latter has recently taken a brief hiatus, ushering in TV favourite Vicky Pattison to fill his shoes.
Announcing her stint on the show, an excited Vicky shared on Instagram: "I HAVE SOME EXCITING NEWS! ! ! !".
The much-loved presenter shared: "As a long time friend of @sundaybrunchc4 it is an absolute HONOUR to be wearing a slightly different hat this week! I will be joining my good pal @rimmersimon as his co-host while the lovely @timlovejoy_official has a very well deserved break! ! !".
She couldn't hide her enthusiasm, as she continued: "I am buzzing like an old fridge to chat to all of our gorgeous guests, eat some delicious food and hopefully give anyone watching and nursing a hangover a bit of light comedy reprieve."
Viewers were overjoyed by the news of Vicky stepping in on Sunday Brunch. One fan expressed: "Joke about Vicki all you want, but its good to have some feminine energy co-presenting and female POV on the sofa while chatting with the guests."
Another viewer was quick to add: "What a breath of fresh air @VickyPattison is #SundayBrunch," and another praised the change, commenting: "I honestly don't think Tim should go, but having Vicki is a nice change from two bald blokes being blokey and exciting only really by any footie talk #sundaybrunch."
Fans can catch the new dynamic duo when Sunday Brunch hits the screens again today (Sunday, June 29) at 10am on Channel 4.

Glastonbury Festival fans surprised with secret set from iconic DJ and his son
Glastonbury Festival 2025 fans were over the moon with Fatboy Slim's secret set, with his son Woody Cook joining him on stage Glastonbury Festival 2025 fans were over the moon as Fatboy Slim took to the stage to perform a secret set. The iconic DJ performed to just a few dozen people, with Fatboy Slim, real name Norman Cook, bringing on his son Woody - who he shares with radio star Zoe Ball. The 61-year-old DJ brought the energy to the small stage while his son Woody, 24, acted as the hype man and danced and bounced around. Fans were delighted by the set and took to the video shared on Instagram to compliment the father-son duo, with one person writing on Woody's page: "Well done lads." "You have no idea how much we love you Norman. Yes was on the beach in Brighton over 20 years ago. LEGEND," another huge fan commented. One said: "What an amazing thing for father and son to do!!" and another questioned: "Why is it not on iplayer?" The 24-year-old son of Fatboy Slim and Zoe Ball recently discussed his family in an interview with OK! Last month, he revealed he's ready to give back to his 'heroic' mum and dad as he discussed following in his parents' footsteps. When asked about DJing, he said: "It's beautiful. They say when you love what you do, you never work a day in your life. I've always been a storyteller and I never originally wanted to be a DJ, but I loved making music so much. Turns out, DJing is just like telling stories, through sound." Woody also doesn't mind people comparing him to his parents as he praised the "heroic people". He said: "I can't tell you who I'd be without my parents. "They gave me the best education ever from them. More than anything, my parents are heroic people. They are the most generous, loving, kind, hard-working people on Earth, and that's what they've given me. "I feel like I owe it all to that. It doesn't matter who they are in their day-to-day life, they are amazing human beings." It was a hectic weekend at Glastonbury as Sunday kicked off with Glastonbury bosses slamming Bob Vylan's 'Death to IDF' chants on stage, declaring the punk rap duo had "crossed the line". It comes as police confirmed that they are investigating the footage. On Sunday afternoon, Rod Stewart performed in the Legends slot after fellow singer Kate Nash lashed out at the legend on Saturday evening. The rocker earned rave reviews but errors in his set included introducing special guest Lulu before realising she would be joining him on stage later. He made some surprise comments back in 2023 about retiring, where he said: "I'm not retiring. But I want to move on. I had great success with The Great American Songbook, all-American standards, and I've just done a swing album with Jools Holland, which is going to come out next year, so I want to go in that direction. I just want to leave all the rock 'n' roll stuff behind — for a while, maybe."

'I clean crime scenes for a living – the smell of death is like nothing else'
A professional crime scene cleaner who encounters people's worst nightmares on a daily basis has revealed what job 'lives in her mind'. As part of a new Channel 4 series, Crime Scene Cleaners shows a behind-the-scenes look at a group of unsung heroes who battle hazardous situations and decomposed bodies. Looking at different cleaning teams from Kent, Reading, Somerset and Newcastle to Arizona, Florida, Louisiana, Los Angeles and Las Vegas, we see what crime scene cleaners do following murders, attacks or overdoses in drug dens. Among the cleaning experts featured in the series is Lauren Baker, a trauma cleaning expert based in Kent, who brings years of experience to some of the most harrowing and dangerous scenes imaginable. Speaking to Metro, Lauren explained how she first became involved in the business. 'I originally tried to give biohazard cleaning a go and did a course, then I didn't realise that these other elements – like cleaning dead bodies – came with it until we actually went and trained,' the mother-of-two said. 'The first job I ever did was a suicide. I went straight in at the deep end and it's always stuck with me because it was very, very calculated. The person had planned every step and left notes saying not to come in and we had to tell the family. 'So yeah, that lives in my head quite a lot. I'll never forget that. And there are other tough cases as well where I've come home and had a little cry in the shower and I've taken it home with me. But I am very headstrong and most of the time I'm able to come home, sit on the sofa and switch off.' Discussing the most shocking moments she has dealt with, Lauren added: 'You've got to be slightly tapped in the brain to do this job. You have got to be mentally strong. 'I didn't always have a strong stomach at first, I had to develop it. I used to gag quite a bit but I learnt that on the job. 'I've never refused to go in somewhere. The worse the better I think because I get a better satisfaction out of it. 'But in some cases there have been times where the smell of death just hits you and I've had to walk out for a second. 'The smell of death is so distinctive, it's like nothing else. I don't even know how to describe it to you. 'Sometimes after really bad cases I've gone home and washed myself three or four times but I can still smell it on my skin. Even though it's psychological I sometimes have to use dettol on my skin.' Lauren went on to say: 'I'm not really shocked anymore… But don't put a spider in front of me. I will have a meltdown. That's the only time I get really shocked or like when a rat runs across your foot.' Discussing whether it has affected her relationships, Lauren added that people only seem to be interested in talking about it to her. But, she added that her partner has to keep reminding her not to talk about dead bodies when they sit down for dinner. More Trending She also said this Channel 4 series is a way for her to push the word out there that people like her are not just cleaners, they are there for people in their darkest moments. Across 10 episodes the series tracks elite specialists from the UK to the US and features detectives and other forensic specialists who unpack the crime and analyse the scene. As well as cleaning up the mess, the cleaners help people get back to normal after the most traumatic events imaginable.
