Eminem's Catalog Is On The Rise, Thanks To One Track's Surprising Revival

Eminem hasn't released anything new in a while, and fans shouldn't expect tunes anytime soon, since he spent much of 2024 promoting his album The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce). While he's not pushing anything at the moment, one of the rapper's older hits is suddenly gaining serious traction in the United Kingdom, and it appears to be bringing some of his other beloved tracks along for the ride.
Last week, Eminem's 'Shake That' debuted on the Official Singles Sales chart in the U.K., just barely making the cut at No. 98. This week, the cut lifts 12 spaces to No. 86. That improvement brings the track to a new peak on the tally, and marks just its second-ever appearance on the list of the most-purchased songs in the country.
The surprise popularity of 'Shake That' might be giving Eminem's work a broader boost. This frame, the rapper appears on three charts in the U.K. with multiple titles, and each one is on the rise.
'Shake That' is also climbing on the Official Singles Downloads chart, where it ascends to No. 81. The digital lift pairs nicely with its improvement on the sales tally.
Meanwhile, two other Eminem hits — 'Without Me' and 'Lose Yourself' — are enjoying a resurgence of their own. The pair find themselves on the Official Hip-Hop and R&B Singles chart this week at Nos. 25 and 26, respectively. Both songs climb at least five spaces from where they sat last period.
Even as 'Shake That' moves up 17 spaces to No. 81 on the Official Singles Downloads chart this frame, that's still far from the cut's all-time best showing. The track has now spent 11 total weeks on the downloads tally, and previously peaked as high as No. 28. So, while it reaches a new all-time high on one-half of all the rosters the single appears on, it has a long way to go before managing the same feat on the other roster.
'Shake That' was released as a single in early 2006 from Curtain Call: The Hits, Eminem's first official compilation of his biggest smashes. The track features vocals from Nate Dogg, though he isn't officially credited on the U.K. charts.
In the United States, the song was a huge win, peaking at No. 6 on the Hot 100. Overseas, however, it never quite reached that level of fame — at least not initially. Now, nearly two decades later, it's becoming a fan favorite, largely for the first time.

"Stay," her collaboration with Mikky Ekko and a former runner-up, dips from No. 24 to No. 27, and is joined this frame by both 'Don't Stop the Music' and 'Love the Way You Lie.' "Friend of Mine" didn't reach the Official Hip-Hop and R&B Singles chart, as it was classified under a different genre by the Official Charts Company. Instead, it launched at No. 19 on the Official Dance Singles chart — but it can no longer be found on that ranking. In fact, even though "Friend of Mine" opened on four song rosters across the U.K. just days ago, it now appears on none of them. The tune started at No. 72 on the Official Singles chart, No. 75 on the Official Singles Downloads list, and No. 79 on the Official Singles Sales ranking. It only managed one frame on each tally, at least so far. That's quite a stark contrast when compared to tracks like "Stay" and "Love the Way You Lie," which have both racked up more than 100 weeks on the Official Hip-Hop and R&B Singles chart.

Meta Accused Of Massive Music Heist In $109M Lawsuit Over Eminem's Catalog
Eminem's team just dropped a legal bombshell on Meta, and it is shaking up the music world. The rapper's publishing company, Eight Mile Style, is suing the tech giant for a staggering $109 million, accusing it of using his music without permission. According to the explosive filing, Meta allegedly allowed users to post Eminem's tracks on its platforms without proper licensing, sparking fierce backlash and setting the stage for a high-stakes legal battle. Mark Zuckerberg's company, Meta, has landed in hot water, and this time, it is due to Eminem's music catalog. On May 30, Eight Mile Style filed a lawsuit against the tech company, accusing them of copyright infringement and seeking millions in damages. In the court documents obtained by PEOPLE, the publisher claimed that Meta violated the copyright of 243 songs from the rapper's music catalog through the 'unauthorized storage, reproduction, and exploitation' of the tracks on their platforms. According to the filing, Eminem's songs were made available in the tech company's 'Music Libraries' to be used by users to create content using features such as Original Audio and Reels Remix. The publisher chained those features, allowing the 52-year-old's songs to be streamed billions of times and used in millions of videos. The lawsuit claimed that due to the countless unauthorized uses of the icon's songs, there was a 'diminished value of the copyrights by Defendants' theft of them, lost profits, and Defendants' profits attributable to the infringement.' As a result, the company is seeking monetary damages as well as maximum statutory damages. They requested $150,000 for each of the 243 songs per platform, WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram, bringing the total amount to $109,350,000. In addition, Eight Mile Style requested a jury trial. They claimed that Meta tried to get licenses through Audiam Inc., a digital royalty collector and payment engine. However, Eminem's publisher said they didn't give Audiam access. Following the lawsuit, Meta issued a statement in response to the claims. 'Meta has licenses with thousands of partners around the world and an extensive global licensing program for music on its platforms,' a spokesperson said. They also noted that Meta had been in talks with Eight Mile Style, but instead of continuing the discussion, the publishing company chose to file a lawsuit. Meanwhile, Eminem has clarified that he is personally not part of the lawsuit. In a statement to E! News on Wednesday, June 4, the Grammy Award winner revealed, '8 Mile Style is a publishing company that administers my early catalog releases." "The Meta lawsuit came from them, not me. I'm not personally involved with it and I am not a party to the suit,' he added. This is not the first time Zuckerberg and Eight Mile Style have been embroiled in a legal fight. In response, Facebook's lawyers argued that the song was exempt from copyright infringement, alleging that the music sounded similar to a Michael Jackson song. Besides popular platforms, individuals, even in Eminem's camp, have also faced legal troubles due to the icon's music. In March 2025, Joseph Strange, a former sound engineer for Eminem, was caught stealing and selling over 25 unreleased tracks from the rapper's private archives. Strange allegedly accessed password-protected hard drives containing unreleased material, transferring files to an external device between 2019 and 2020. The FBI's investigation began after Eminem's team discovered the unreleased songs circulating online and identified images taken directly from the studio's hard drive. Buyers reported paying substantial sums, including one who spent $50,000 in Bitcoin for 25 tracks. Now, Strange faces charges of criminal copyright infringement and interstate transportation of stolen goods, carrying potential penalties of up to 15 years in prison and fines up to $250,000.

When it comes to rankings around the world, the generation-defining rapper never disappears for very long. He usually sees at least one or two of his full-lengths find space on lists in a number of countries, and sometimes, a handful of tracks perform well enough to do the same. In the United Kingdom, Eminem's albums are performing especially well at the moment, as several classics continue to chart while multiple projects return. It's a somewhat surprisingly busy period for him in the nation, despite the fact that he has nothing brand new out, and he isn't actively promoting anything at the moment. This week, The Marshall Mathers LP reappears on two charts across the Atlantic. It breaks back onto the Official Hip-Hop and R&B Albums chart at No. 31. Simultaneously, it becomes a bestseller again as it reenters the Official Album Downloads list at No. 81. In the past, The Marshall Mathers LP has ruled the genre-specific tally, but it has only climbed as high as No. 29 on the ranking of top-selling downloads in the U.K. Joining The Marshall Mathers LP on the Official Hip-Hop and R&B Albums chart is The Slim Shady LP. The early career effort finds a home at No. 24 after not appearing on the list at all last frame. Like The Marshall Mathers LP, it too has previously dominated the same ranking. Eminem owns four spaces on the Official Hip-Hop and R&B Albums chart this frame. As The Marshall Mathers LP and The Slim Shady LP return, they join The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce) and Curtain Call: The Hits. Those two titles dip slightly, landing at Nos. 22 and 26, respectively. Of those two, only Curtain Call: The Hits manages to find space on other rankings in the same country. It also lives on both the Official Albums chart and Official Albums Streaming ranking, and it climbs slightly on the two tallies. Curtain Call 2, the sequel to the hugely successful original compilation, is also present on a number of rankings in the U.K. Interestingly, it does not find space on the Official Hip-Hop and R&B Albums chart. Instead, it places on both the Official Albums and Official Albums Streaming rankings, as it's still performing well — just not quite well enough to rank among the 40 bestselling titles in those specific styles.
