N-Dubz's Tulisa 'slept on bathroom floor' for 5 days after sex tape leak

Tulisa Contostavlos has shared details from her 'year from hell', with her drug trial and sex tape scandal leaving her mental health spiralling. The N-Dubz legend revealed in her new memoir — Judgement: Love, Trials and Tribulations — that she attempted to take her life twice amid the turbulent year. In a blow to her solo career and X Factor stardom in 2012, her sex tape was leaked, then the following year, she was charged on suspicion of supplying Class A drugs. 'When I was a child, the bathroom was the only room in my house with a lock,' Tulisa wrote, according to The Mirror. 'I had always locked myself in there in times of distress, whether it was because my parents were going at it like two bulls in a china shop again, or my mentally ill mother was going off the rails.' She explained it had 'always been my place of safety' and that twenty years later, she was 'back lying on the bathroom floor'. 'Deep-rooted issues, I suppose,' Tulisa, 37, continued. 'When the sex tape had come out, I had slept on the bathroom floor for five days.' At the time, revenge porn was not illegal, so despite launching legal action against her ex-boyfriend Justin Edwards, all she received was an apology. The pair had split in 2009 and while the rapper initially denied responsibility, he offered his 'sincere apologies' via London's High Court. After the case was closed, Tulisa said: 'I am relieved that this is finally over. It has been a very testing few months and this was not a case I ever wanted to go through. 'I stand here today a stronger, wiser young woman who has taken this experience and learnt from it. I am disgusted by Justin and saddened by the people that believed I released the footage myself.' Her lawyer made clear this was 'not the case' and called the ordeal 'the most severe invasion of privacy imaginable'. This wasn't the only devastating moment that left Tulisa seeking comfort in the bathroom, having later attempted to take her life in there. Her former best friend, Gareth Varey, found her unconscious in the bathroom after she overdosed during the drugs case. 'What's the point in being alive just to be miserable?' she penned. 'How am I ever going to find happiness after this? Even if I'm found innocent, I'll be empty inside by the time I get to the end of it, and my life will be ruined.' The I'm A Celebrity star was revived but months later she attempted to take her own life for a second time, resulting in a three-day hospital trip. She was arrested after an elaborate sting and denied the charges, with the case collapsing after the judge believed the prosecution's witness and undercover journalist Mazher Mahmood lied in court. He was later sentenced to 15 months in jail. More Trending In the years that followed, Tulisa became addicted to sleeping tablets and benzodiazepines, which she finally freed herself from last year. She explained she had 'found her peace and faith' after a tumultuous decade, having joined N-Dubz at 11 years old and found fame by 20. Tulisa Contostavlos learnt brutal lesson on I'm A Celebrity after jungle disaster

N-Dubz star Tulisa stepped back into the public eye in 2024 on I'm A Celebrity - and in her new book Judgement: Love, Trials, and Tribulations, she has revealed she learnt an important lesson from her brief time on the show After years away from the spotlight, Tulisa Contostavlos returned in a major way in 2024 when she appeared in the 24th series of I'm A Celebrity. ‌ The N-Dubz star joined the likes of Danny Jones, Rev Richard Coles and Coleen Rooney in the jungle reality show. But her time was short-lived, and she was the third contestant to be booted out. ‌ Following her elimination, Tulisa surprised many by quickly leaving Australia and not participating in the final reunion show. She also deleted all mentions of the show from her social media, later explaining that she felt "overwhelmed" by the attention. ‌ "A lot of bombarding, in all the most positive way but because it's been a bit of a while for me, I can get overwhelmed quite easily," the Sight of You singer said in an Instagram video. "I just need to take a bit of time for me and just chill and this is all just feeling a little bit much at the moment." While her time on the show was brief, it helped provide clarity for Tulisa, who has touched upon the experience in her new book, Judgement: Love, Trials, and Tribulations. Writing in the epilogue, the star shares: "I can see clearer now, I have a strong sense of inner peace and an internal happiness that comes from within. It wasn't easy, but I'm proud of myself. I've managed to successfully return with N-Dubz and had a fun little stint on I'm a Celebrity… though it has confirmed my feelings of wanting to remain a little less in the spotlight. "I can't say I enjoyed eating lamb bollocks and being pi**ed on with rain during the rainiest season ever, but I am grateful for the experience because it's only by getting uncomfortable that we can grow. ‌ "Mostly I was very grateful for the opportunity to show people my true self after so many years of such giant misconception of who I truly was, and I've certainly felt a change for the better in people's energy towards me since. All is finally well, but there were certainly moments along the way to get to this point where my hope was short." Tulisa made her name in the 2000s as part of N-Dubz before launching her solo career and later appearing as a judge on X-Factor in 2011. She largely stepped back from the public eye when, in 2014, charges were brought against her after an undercover reporter from The Sun - 'Fake Sheikh' Mazher Mahmood - claimed she'd brokered a deal to supply Class A drugs. The drugs trial collapsed after the reporter was found to have lied in his evidence, and Mahmood received a 15-month prison sentence. ‌ Previously, Mahmood had been employed by the Sunday Times and the now-defunct News of the World. He gained notoriety for exposing wrongdoings but faced criticism for orchestrating stings while masquerading as an Arab businessman to secure stories. One of his high-profile targets was model Jodie Kidd, who discussed her ordeal in the 2023 Prime Video documentary series "The Fake Sheikh," where she lamented that befriending him was "the biggest mistake of my life," after being labelled a "coke fixer" in the press following their encounter. Post-conviction in 2016 and subsequent imprisonment, Mahmood vanished from the limelight and is presumed to have ceased working as a journalist. Nonetheless, in a 2023 interview with The Guardian, Paul Samrai, an associate of Mahmood's, hinted at rumours that Mahmood might still be active in journalism, albeit under a pseudonym.

Tulisa Contostavlos' new life in country with secret 'soul family' after boyfriend disaster

There was a time when N'Dubz star Tulisa Contostavlos was rarely out of the headlines. Now, reflecting on her turbulent years in her new book Judgement: Love, Trials, and Tribulations, she reveals that life today looks very different Much of Tulisa Contostavlos 's life has been spent in the spotlight. From her early days with N-Dubz, to her stint as an X Factor judge, her solo career, her tumultuous love life, I'm A Celebrity appearance, and the famous collapse of her drug trial, the 37-year-old has consistently made headlines. ‌ But more recently, she has opted for a different approach. Now Tulisa prioritises her happiness and wellbeing - and that has meant some dramatic changes. ‌ The star has shared a detailed update on her new life in her new book, Judgement: Love, Trials, and Tribulations. She reveals that she has relocated to Cheshire in order to be close to her best friend Michelle McKenna, her husband Daniel and their daughter Nevaeh - Tulisa's goddaughter. ‌ She also prioritises time with another best friend Percy, who travels with her son to see Tulisa on the weekends - and it is this tightknit clan that means the most. She writes: "Through our bond, Percy has in turn become very close with Michelle and Dan, and together we have become the fantastic four. Or as I like to call us, the soul family. True love is a beautiful thing; I feel extremely blessed to have it and I cherish it dearly. I have become the kind of person that would do anything for their soul family, as they would for me." According to Tulisa, she is much more of an introvert these days, who embraces her quiet life in the country - bar the occasional blowout or fun holiday. Instead she says she is focused on her fitness, health, and mental wellbeing, which includes meditation, structure and routine. For the past year, she has been living in her dream home, which she spent six months doing up, in a quiet countrified area in the middle of nowhere. "Honestly, I'm a bit of nerd in my spare time," she writes. "I've gone back to being an avid reader like I was in my teens. I'm obsessed with Ancient History and Ancient Alien theories. I'm currently on my fifth read of The Emerald Tablets of Thoth the Atlantean. I watch all things fantasy, play PlayStation and of course I still love to cook, especially in my new kitchen." ‌ And what about her love life? According to the star it's been "chaotic enough to write another ten books". She had an on-off relationship with a boyfriend named Jacob which lasted three years, and another with an older man she calls *Miles. After their breakup, she embarked on a three-year celibacy stint before reconciling with another ex named *Liam - and they even spent Christmas 2024 together. But it wasn't to be and she once again briefly reconnected with Miles. Cut to present day, and Tulisa says she is forcing herself to date again in the hopes of a fresh start. But it's not a process she enjoys. "I've played the bachelorette for most of my life and at times it's been a lot of fun, but I'm now 36 with 37 fast approaching and all the games haven't brought me any real happiness, only temporary fleeting kicks of excitement and thrills," she writes. "I know I'm tired of it all, but I am also still scared shitless of settling down. I decided to freeze my eggs to take the pressure off and bide my time if needs be. All I know for sure is that everything I've been through has left deep scars, but I've also become a different person and it's time for a change. I'd say I'm finally open to finding someone to heal and grow with, and dare I say 'settle down'."
