Cardi B sued for hurling microphone at audience member
Cardi B is facing a civil lawsuit stemming from an onstage incident that occurred in the summer of 2023 during a performance in Las Vegas.
The plaintiff, identified in court documents as Jane Doe, filed a complaint this week alleging assault, battery, and negligence against the Grammy-winning rapper.
According to the lawsuit, the incident took place at Drai's Beachclub, located at The Cromwell hotel, during a daytime party.
The plaintiff claims that Cardi B (born Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar) encouraged the crowd to throw water on her due to extreme heat.
The lawsuit states that Cardi 'verbally requested that the audience splash her with water.'
However, after a member of the audience threw a cup containing liquid and ice toward the stage, the artist allegedly responded by throwing her micorophone, causing the audience member 'severe emotional distress, shock, humiliation, and physical injury.'
Video footage of the incident circulated widely online at the time, showing Cardi B reacting after being splashed during her performance.
The video shows a fan right at the front of the crowd throwing a beer at the rapper, and after a short, shocked pause, Cardi hit back.
She hurled the microphone into the crowd and then appeared visibly shaken and furious as the backing track continued without her.
Security can be seen reacting as Cardi attempted to regain her composure on stage, flicking her hair off her face.
Cardi B was investigated by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department in 2023 in connection with the same incident.
However, following that inquiry, authorities declined to pursue criminal charges: This afternoon we were notified by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Dept. that as a result of their investigation, there will be NO charges against Cardi,' attorneys Drew Findling, David Chesnoff, and Richard Schonfeld said in a joint statement to TMZ at the time.

Despite the conclusion of the criminal investigation, the civil suit – filed two years after the event – now brings the matter back into the spotlight.
The plaintiff's attorney, Cierra N. Norris, is expected to hold a press conference in Las Vegas on Thursday to discuss the case.
As of now, Cardi B has not publicly responded to the lawsuit.
Cardi isn't the only celebrity to have faced the rising trend, which sees audience members launch items on stage to hit whoever they came to see – something that left Bebe Rexha battered and bruised, and Harry Styles doubled over in pain.

'I've had this conversation with James, who plays Theo. It's such a rushed relationship, she had the fling with Jason then this is another big thing.' 'There's two things going on. One is trying to show Theo what he's missing with his family life, this is what he's throwing away. 'And there might be an element of her trying to fill the void, Danielle and Theo were married for 19 years, that's a huge amount of time. I've been with my husband 20 years and can't even imagine him not being around. It's a little bit of a rebound.' '[Noah and Danielle] have known of each other and grown up together through the faith with Theo. She has a line about the history between Noah and Theo and says it was their business, she believes Noah was just trying to do right by him. 'They've all come through the church upbringing together. felt for her like a natural person to fill the void of Theo. But also its probably quite pointed, of all the people she could've dated its someone who made his life quite uncomfortable as he was part of Theo's conversion therapy.' As Theo, Danielle and their kids come together at the Bistro, Todd is quick to spill the tea regarding what he's learned…leading to another violent altercation for the fractured family, with Theo accidentally striking his son, Miles (Lewis William Magee). Does Natalie think that Danielle would've revealed the news off of her own back? She says: 'Yes from a perspective of co-parenting she was planning on telling him, and was probably waiting to manage her own feelings first – before Todd steals her thunder and throws her under the bus!' On the Bistro confrontation, Natalie says: 'It all gets a little bit heated, Miles in particular is very upset with Todd, he goes for him and Theo tries to stop him. In the melee this incident happens where Miles ends up with a bloody nose. For Danielle, Todd is at the root of all of this – whether it was an accident or not, Todd has spoilt this and is the thorn in their side.' Todd seeks advice from his ex Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank), who calls round and sees bedding on the sofa and implores him to speak with Danielle, who's since banned Theo from seeing his kids… On how that particular conversation goes? Natalie teases: 'Her kids are her life she'll do anything to protect them. 'When Todd reaches out, she does want to take that seriously, until Todd starts being Todd and tries to manipulate the situation and throws his little daggers in there! She's not having any of it and has to go back to the drawing board. Playing those scenes was brilliant.' When Natalie was asked what's to come for Danielle, she said: 'As you can imagine it does get messier and more heated. We fall into two camps between Danielle and Theo, and the children will be caught in the middle of that. It is difficult, and representative of a lot of families going through messy divorces. 'That's been amazing to play and its not something I've done before, there's a lot of figuring out what's next and figuring out what's best for the children. How do we feel about Danielle so far? 'When it starts to become a legal thing, how nasty does that get? It's one thing trying to sort it out between yourselves, but when it gets to that next level things becomes more weaponised. There are some calculating things coming up, I'm not sure the audience will still be on Danielle's side after that!' Top WWE SummerSlam match at risk with top star 'blocked from entering US'
A major WWE match announced for SummerSlam 2025 is in serious jeopardy after a top superstar wasn't allowed to travel back to the United States. On the first night of the August 2 and 3 double header, Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul are set to face Randy Orton and Grammy Award-winning singer Jelly Roll in a tag team match. McIntyre, known as the Scottish Warrior, has been back in the UK for a friend's wedding in England over the weekend, but he's now claimed he was stopped from boarding his flight back to the US where he has lived for a number of years. 'There's now a good chance I don't make #SummerSlam,' he captioned a video on X as he talking into his phone camera from a field. 'It's quite a week I've had. You wanna know how it's been capped off? i can't get back into America, They wouldn't let me board my flight,' he said in the video. 'I'm in England still, at my buddy's wedding – what a wedding it was. Planning to go back, train for SummerSlam, but no, no, no, no, I got blocked. **Warning – the below video includes strong language** 'Wife and I walked up to the gate, trying to check in, always goes perfectly fine. Not this time.' McIntyre noted that there was an issue with his documentation, despite never having a problem any of the other times he's been travelling. He continued: ''Drew, you don't have your US passport. I know who you are. I know you've lived there for a long time, I know you're showing me pictures of your US passport, and your global entry. ''I know exactly who you are, your property and the likes. But no, we can't let you in the country buddy. 'So my wife and I panic, we say we've got a sick animal at home, we're good people, we care about our animals, we care about people. In the end, his wife travelled back alone 'against her will' to see their pet cat, while McIntyre had to turn around and leave the airport. Ever the professional, the former world champion used the real life incident to continue his on-screen feud with Jelly Roll. 'Here I am. So what happened, what changed this trip? Jelly Roll. You know somebody, got some connections? You've got your 15 minutes of fame right now, can get away with some stuff? Coronation Street favourite rushed to hospital during cast-packed wedding
You can't have a soap wedding without some kind of hiccup or obstacle – and Coronation Street are going all out to hit Dev Alahan (Jimmi Harkishin) and Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove) with disaster on the big day – with the bride rushed to hospital after a collapse. Even before this calamitous end to the very glam and colourful ceremony, there are shenanigans aplenty. The week starts with the stag and hen parties. Having saved money buying cheap suits for Dev and Aadi, Bernie is having a low key hen do in the bistro when word reaches them that the boys have hired a pole dancer at the Rovers. A furious Bernie storms into the Rovers to find the stags cheering on the pole dancer, but is all as it seems? As the big day dawns on Wednesday (August 6th), Dev and Bernie's dream wedding goes from bad to worse when the quads fall ill and have to watch with Joseph on live stream. Meanwhile, Bernie forgets her lucky charm locket containing the photo of Paul and when she runs home to get it she disturbs a burglar.
