Protestors storm London Marathon and tackled by police in politcally charged message
The London Marathon faced unexpected chaos on Sunday morning when police had to tackle two protesters on Tower Bridge. The event happened after
it was claimed only the United States can reign in Israel.
The pair, who leaped over barriers and onto the course just as the frontrunners of the elite men's race were approaching, caused a stir among spectators and participants alike. One of the demonstrators splashed red paint on the lead van, which was guiding the top runners.
A motorbike escorting the athletes stopped in its tracks, with the rider jumping off to subdue the intruders. While this unfolded, the elite runners narrowly avoided the disruption, continuing their race without interruption. Officers quickly arrived at the scene to detain the protesters, much to the astonishment of onlookers.

Youth Demand claimed responsibility for the protest, with the activists donning white tees emblazoned with "Stop arming Israel." They took to their X (formerly Twitter) account to share footage of their act alongside a rallying cry to their supporters.
Their post declared: "RACE AGAINST TIME TO SAVE
GAZA
: YOUTH DEMAND SUPPORTERS DISRUPT LONDON MARATHON."
Detailing their motives, they wrote: "At 10:30am (GMT), Willow and Cristy jumped the barriers at Tower Bridge and sat down in front of the men's elite race at the London Marathon, wearing 'Stop Arming Israel' T-shirts."
They continued, "Gaza is running out of food. Arming genocide crosses the line. We won't be bystanders: join us in resistance."

A woman's voice echoes during the recording as she declares: "The UK Labour government is complicit in enabling a genocide in Palestine.
"We continue to provide arms to Israel, the genocidal state of Israel. We are breaking UK domestic law and international law by supplying Israel with arms. Stop the genocide."
The disturbance unfolded at the London Marathon which kicked off at 8.50am on Sunday with the start of the elite wheelchair races. Victory in the men's wheelchair competition went to Marcel Hug, whilst Catherine Debrunner triumphed in the women's division.

Prince William's role in Pope funeral talks between Trump and Zelensky
Prince William played a key role in setting up the meeting between Ukraine's president Volodymyr Zelensky and world leaders Donald Trump , Keir Starmer, and Emmanuel Macron, it has been revealed. The sit down between Zelenksy and Trump was the first face-to-face meeting since their dramatic blow up in the White House in February . But the seemingly friendly meeting went well. Zelensky described it as a "good meeting that has the potential to become historic," while the White House described it as "very productive." The Prince of Wales attended Saturday's ceremony at the Vatican. He is now being praised for a subtle move that helped pave the way for subsequent discussions between Mr. Trump and Mr. Zelensky. However, he crucially chose to discreetly step aside from a huddle that formed between the political leaders including not only Sir Keir, Mr. Trump, and Mr. Zelensky but also France's president Mr. Macron. William "respectfully peeled away" to allow the PM and his colleagues to continue their talks, which were then followed by the sit-down between Mr. Trump and Mr. Zelensky, the Telegraph reports. The Prince of Wales is reported to have "read the room" and moved away. '. William attending the Vatican, comes after his father Charles attended Pope John Paul II's funeral in 2005, representing his mother, the late Queen. Many see William's visit as him stepping into the global spotlight in preparation to become king one day. Writing on X, formerly known as Twitter, Mr Zelensky said of last Saturday's talks with Mr Trump: "Good meeting. We discussed a lot one on one. Prince William sat a few rows back (Image: Philip Coburn/Daily Mirror) "Hoping for results on everything we covered. Protecting lives of our people. Full and unconditional ceasefire. Reliable and lasting peace that will prevent another war from breaking out. Very symbolic meeting that has potential to become historic, if we achieve joint results. Thank you." The thank you carries extra weight after an apparent lack of gratitude became a key point of attack for Trump and his cabinet during the White House argument. Although there were rumors the two would meet again after the Pope's funeral, it didn't happen. Since then, Trump has expressed his belief that Ukrainian President Zelensky is prepared to give up Crimea in order to negotiate peace terms with Russia. Speaking to reporters in New Jersey yesterday, he agreed when asked if he thought Zelensky was ready to "give up" the territory. Trump mentioned that during their conversation at St. Peter's Basilica, they had "briefly" discussed the future of the Black Sea peninsula, which was invaded by Vladimir Putin's Russia in 2014. He also urged President Putin to "stop shooting" and sign an agreement to end the ongoing war following Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. Last Sunday, he said about Putin: "I want him to stop shooting, sit down, and sign a deal. We have the confines of a deal, I believe, and I want him to sign it."

Donald Trump claims he told Giants to re-sign Saquon Barkley before Eagles move
U.S. President Donald Trump has stirred the pot by claiming he advised the New York Giants to keep Saquon Barkley before the running back inked a three-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles after entering free agency. Trump, an avid supporter of Barkley, hit the links with the NFL sensation on Sunday, sparking some backlash from Eagles supporters and prompting Barkley to take to social media in response . The star running back was at the White House when the Eagles were celebrated for their Super Bowl victory last season, though quarterback Jalen Hurts opted out of the visit. Trump made his feelings clear on Hurts during Monday's event before refusing to stand near the Eagles owner for a ludicrous reason . It's the second time a championship-winning team has visited the White House this month, with Trump finding a bizarre way to make himself taller during Ohio State's trip to Washington D.C. Trump insists he told the team to do whatever it took to secure Barkley, noting that his advice went unheeded, ultimately playing into the hands of their NFC East adversaries. "By the way, I have to tell you something," Trump said at the White House. "I was with the Giants and the head coach, and some people, and I said, 'Do anything you have to but don't lose Saquon.' They lost Saquon. That was not good. Jalen Hurts didn't attend the White House on Monday (Image: Getty Images) "I called that one, that was an easy one to call as he played damn well for the Giants I can tell you that. But, he made the right decision because it is a team sport and he has great people in this team." Looking back, the Giants made a disastrous mistake when they reportedly refused to pay Barkley an additional $1.5 million he was asking for. This decision was also influenced by a four-year, $160 million extension they gave to quarterback Daniel Jones in 2023, who was let go halfway through the previous season. This oversight by the Giants' management upset Barkley, who was keen on re-signing with New York and had hoped to stay with the Big Blue for the rest of his career. The Giants not only allowed a valuable player to join their fiercest rivals, but Barkley also set several NFL records and led the Eagles to a Super Bowl victory. Saquon Barkley has responded to critics over his meeting with President Donald Trump (Image: Getty Images) Barkley broke the NFL's single-season rushing record (including playoffs) with 2,478 yards and scored 20 touchdowns in 20 games. After being released by the Giants, he matched their 13 regular-season rushing touchdowns on his own and ran for more yards than New York's entire offense. The former first-round pick (second overall) had the final say as he won a Super Bowl ring after a crushing defeat of the Kansas City Chiefs, with the championship game taking place on his 28th birthday. Barkley has already cemented his status as a franchise legend, but has faced criticism for the first time since joining Philadelphia . Barkley was spotted with Trump at his New Jersey golf club after enjoying a ride on Marine One, shortly before the Eagles' White House visit. Facing criticism for his political associations, Barkley defended himself online. "Lol some people are really upset cause I played golfed and flew to the White House with the PRESIDENT," Barkley posted on X. "Maybe I just respect the office, not a hard concept to understand. Just golfed with Obama not too long look forward to finishing my round with Trump! Now ya get out my mentions with all this politics and have amazing day." While some Eagles players skipped the White House event, team owner Jeffrey Lurie echoed Barkley's sentiment by gladly accepting the invitation. "We just felt this is a time-honored tradition, being invited by the White House," Lurie said. "There was no reticence whatsoever. To be celebrated at the White House is a good thing."
