Yara Sameh
Lili Taylor has been cast as Mags in Lionsgate's new 'Hunger Games' prequel 'Sunrise on the Reaping,' an adaptation of the bestselling book by Suzanne Collins.
She joins previously announced cast members Joseph Zada as Haymitch Abernathy, Whitney Peak as Lenore Dove Baird, Mckenna Grace as Maysilee Donner, Jesse Plemons as Plutarch Heavensbee, Maya Hawke as Wiress, and Kelvin Harrison Jr. as Beetee.
Mags, previously portrayed by Lynn Cohen in 'Catching Fire,' is a former Hunger Games champion-turned-District 12 mentor.
Taylor is a three-time Emmy nominee who will next be seen in the second season of Marvel's 'Daredevil: Born Again' as well as Netflix's 'Fear Street: Prom Queen.' She can also be seen starring in the mystery drama 'Outer Range' on Amazon.
In the literary space, this spring, Taylor released her debut book, 'Turning to Birds,' a love letter to birding and the art of seeking peace in unexpected places.
The film adaptation of 'The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping' will be released on Nov. 20, 2026. Francis Lawrence will direct from a screenplay adaptation by Billy Ray. Color Force's Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson will produce. Cameron MacConomy will executive produce.
Published on March 18, 'Sunrise on the Reaping' revisits the world of Panem twenty-four years before the events of 'The Hunger Games,' starting on the morning of the reaping of the Fiftieth Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell.
'Sunrise on the Reaping' sold 1.5 million copies in its first week on sale in the U.S., U.K., Ireland, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
The 1.2 million copies sold in the U.S. are twice the first week sales of 'The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes' and three times the first week sales of 'Mockingjay.' The five films in the franchise have taken in over $3.3 billion at the box office.
Meredith Wieck and Scott O'Brien are overseeing the project for Lionsgate. Robert Melnik negotiated the deal for the studio.

"Wicked: For Good" Trailer Is Finally Here

Yara Sameh It is time to venture back to the Emerald City. Universal Pictures has finally unveiled the official trailer for 'Wicked: For Good,' the second part of 2024's hit Broadway movie adaptation. 'Wicked: For Good' brings back Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande as Elphaba and Glinda, as well as Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero, Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard of Oz, Ethan Slater as Boq Woodsman, Marissa Bode as Nessarose Thropp and Bowen Yang as Pfannee. Jon M. Chu directed both films with screenplays by Winnie Holzman and Dana Fox. Per the official logline, the second movie — 'set in the Land of Oz, before and after Dorothy Gale's arrival from Kansas' — will 'cover the events of the musical's second act, following Elphaba and Glinda's friendship being put to the test as they embrace their new respective identities as the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch of the North, and how the consequences of their actions will change all of Oz forever.' Last year's 'Wicked' was a massive hit and grossed $756 million at the worldwide box office, becoming the highest-grossing Broadway adaptation ever and Universal's third biggest movie of all time. The movie received 10 Academy Award nominations, including best picture, lead actress for Erivo, supporting actress for Grande, costume design, editing, makeup and hairstyling, production design, original score, sound and visual effects. It also won for costume design, making Paul Tazewell the first Black man to win the category, plus production design. 'Wicked: For Good' is scheduled to be released in theaters on November 21. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Sports Neymar Announced for Brazil's Preliminary List for 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers News Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly Inaugurates Two Indian Companies Arts & Culture New Archaeological Discovery from 26th Dynasty Uncovered in Karnak Temple Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream
