Outlander star lands role with Death in Paradise's Kris Marshall and fans are thrilled
Outlander sensation Colin McFarlane has been captured on the set of Beyond Paradise, much to the delight of fans. A snapshot was eagerly shared on a Facebook fan page dedicated to the show.
Grinning broadly, the actor was snapped in the company of an admirer. His attire consisted of dark brown trousers and a white vest top, layered with a checked shirt.
Notably, a microphone was attached to Colin's vest, hinting at his work in progress.
In another image, Colin is seen alongside Kris Marshall, who portrays the lead detective, Humphrey Goodman. This time, Colin seems to be in costume, sporting a green gilet atop his checked shirt and holding what looks like gardening gloves.
Kris, for his part, was casually dressed in a white vest top, navy blue trousers, and brown footwear as they ambled around the set.
The fan who posted the photo playfully noted: "Kris in his best togs," reports the Express.
While the behind-the-scenes glimpses sparked excitement among fans, some were quick to spot an intriguing crossover – Colin had previously graced the screen in Death in Paradise.
Colin featured in the sixth episode of the fourth series of Death in Paradise, taking on the role of Anton Burrage. In that particular episode, Kris's character, DI Goodman and his team faced the daunting task of solving a volleyball player's murder.
Fans on the page couldn't help but comment on the reunion. One remarked, "Looks like Selwyn's volleyball friend from Death in Paradise with him.
"Mr Barrage," another chimed in.
A different fan expressed their fondness for the actor accompanying Kris, saying, "Oh, I like the actor with him. He's usually really posh or very bad.
"The guy with Kris was with him in DIP, too. In the volleyball episode," pointed out another.
In other news, Colin has been bestowed with an honorary degree from Loughborough University.
The 63-year-old British thespian, scribe, and producer, famed for his portrayal of Gillian B. Loeb in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Trilogy, was honoured by his alma mater for his "outstanding contributions to the arts and his role in championing men's health issues."

Outlander Blood of My Blood gets top ratings on Rotten Tomatoes ahead of release
Critics took to Rotten Tomatoes to say the Starz spin-off show 'maintains the magic' of the original Since its debut more than a decade ago, Outlander has amassed a global fanbase. The historical romance series, centring round Claire Randall/Fraser (Caitríona Balfe) and Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), saw their love affair quickly capture hearts. However with the show nearing its end with the eighth and final season set for 2026, the phenomenon is expanding in the form of a spin-off to Diana Gabaldon's treasured franchise. Blood of My Blood is set to air to audiences later this week, August 8. The series will follow two new love stories, one which starts on the battlefields of the Western Front during World War I and the other in the meadows of Scotland in the early 18th century. It will unravel the tale of both Jamie and Claire Fraser's parents. Jamie's dad, Brian Fraser, died just mere days after the Highland warrior's second flogging from Randall in Outlander. Although we are yet to get a taste of the spin-off, some critics have shared their glowing reviews ahead of its release. Taking to Rotten Tomatoes, one confirmed that the 'magic' of Outlander is also apparent in the spin-off. "Outlander: Blood of My Blood unquestionably maintains the magic of the original show, a steamy, emotional, addictively watchable prequel that succeeds at everything fans have loved from the beginning," one person wrote. Another critic noted: "Lush, complex, beautifully shot and structured, this prequel is a thrilling addition to a franchise that has enraptured audiences from the beginning." A third said: "Outlander: Blood of My Blood is more than a prequel; it's a necessary story to tell both for the world and because of its themes." "Who could turn down another serving of such a decadent treat, especially when made with such obvious love for the original? One section of the series follows the love story between Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater) and Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy), who are Jamie's parents. Featuring as a stand-alone series, any fans dreading the impending forever Droughtlander should be sure not to miss this one. "The series will centre on these two parallel love stories set in two different eras, with Jamie's parents in the early 18th-century Scottish Highlands and Claire's parents in WWI England," according to the official synopsis. Matthew B. Roberts, the showrunner of Outlander, will also serve as the showrunner and executive producer on the spin-off series. The first season will compose of 10 episodes. 'Brilliant' BBC sitcom to return to air with Death in Paradise star in line up
BBC have announced that a much loved series has been greenlit for a second series with a host of new stars joining The acclaimed BBC series, Smoggie Queens, has already begun filming its second series, with fans eagerly anticipating the return of many original cast members. BAFTA and Olivier award-winning actress Monica Dolan is confirmed to join the programme for its second series. She boasts an impressive acting portfolio, having starred in popular shows such as Sherwood and Strike. Monica portrayed Rose West in Netflix's highly anticipated series Appropriate Adult, held a leading role in Wolf Hall to The Thief, His Wife and the Canoe, and received a BAFTA nomination for her performance in Mr Bates vs. The Post Office. Also joining the second series is Death in Paradise actress Amalia Vitale, known for her previous role in Big Mood, and Freya Parker, who played Suki in One Day. The BBC have assured fans that they can look forward to "more slapstick and silly laughs" in the brand new episodes. Returning to their roles are Dickie (Phil Dunning), Mam (Mark Benton), Lucinda (Alexandra Mardell), Sal (Patsy Lowe) and Stewart (Elijah Young), reports the Express. The show's synopsis reveals: "Showing what the North East is made of and the resilience of the queer community, the gang forge ahead with new relationships and rekindle some old ones, all while they cement those chosen family bonds. Supporters will undoubtedly be thrilled to discover that the fresh episodes will feature Drag Race legend Michelle Visage, Charlotte Riley (Peaky Blinders), Bill Fellows (Ted Lasso), Michael Hodgson (Vera), Lauryn Redding (Standing At The Sky's Edge), Peter McPherson (In From the Side), Neil Grainger (Hebburn), Michael Mather (It's A Sin) and television personality Steph McGovern, all returning to their characters. "I'm so happy to see so many of the Smoggie family returning for Series 2, and over the moon to welcome the incredibly talented newbies. Can't wait to make TV and eat parmos with all of them," said the shows creator Phil Dunning in a statement. The announcement will certainly be celebrated by admirers who previously praised the programme as "absolutely brilliant" following an outstanding debut series. On social media platform X, one viewer wrote: "Started watching it by chance. Ep 5, going to go back now and watch the rest - absolutely brilliant". Another fan revealed they consumed the entire series in a single session, commenting: "Just binge-watched Smoggie Queens. It was bl***y brilliant.
