One UI 8 beta coming to Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6 next week
Starting next week, owners of the following models in the US, the UK, India and South Korea will be able to sign up for One UI 8 beta through the Samsung Members app: Samsung Galaxy S24, S24+, S24 Ultra, S24 FE, Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6.

Again, this is for the beta – the stable release is coming at a later date and will incorporate feedback from the beta program. This release is scheduled to roll out in September for the Galaxy S25 series and expand to other product lines in sequence.
People with older phones will have to wait longer. For example, the following models will be able to join the One UI 8 beta starting in September:
Note that we are assuming that the Galaxy S FE models are included in their respective S-series, since Samsung is already testing One UI 8 on the S24 FE. Also, we're not sure why the Galaxy A36 is on the list but the A56 is not – this is from the global press release, so it's not a regional thing.
Looking at the Watch branch of the One UI 8 tree, the Galaxy Watch Ultra already received the stable update. The Galaxy Watch7 is still on the beta for some reason, though. Samsung is also testing older models and says that One UI 8 Watch will 'expand to more Galaxy Watch models beyond the Galaxy Watch8 series later this year'.

Apple announced its American Manufacturing Program, which will aim to bring its supply chain and advanced manufacturing back to US soil. Apple has a grand plan to create an end-to-end silicon supply chain in the US. This includes supply chain partners in every aspect of silicon production, from R&D to fabrication and packaging. Employees at Corning's manufacturing facility in Harrodsburg, Kentucky. Apple revealed it expects the US supply chain to account for 19 billion chips for its products in 2025. TSMC's Arizona plant is mentioned as the primary source with 'millions of chips'. Samsung's plant in Austin, Texas is also mentioned as it will offer chips that 'optimize power and performance' of Apple products (including iPhones), sold around the world. It's not just chips, Apple confirmed its server factory in Houston is set to begin mass production in 2026. It is also building a data center in North Carolina, partnering with Applied Materials for chip manufacturing equipment and working with Broadcom and GlobalFoundries on modem components all made in the US. The Galaxy S26 Ultra might finally fix what's been slowing you down – and you'll feel the difference
The Galaxy S26 Ultra is going to be Samsung's 2026 flagship phone. And rumors about it have already started showing up online, with some great news for Samsung fans when it comes to charging. Apparently, rumor has it the Galaxy S26 Ultra may finally ditch the 45W charging... and now, yet again, this rumor gets corroborated with a trusted tipster giving us some hints about how much of an upgrade we should expect in the charging department. Right now, the leaks are all indicating the Galaxy S26 Ultra may support 60W charging, around 33% faster charging than what its predecessor, the Galaxy S25 Ultra, sports (45W). Now, trusted leaker IceUniverse is giving us some figures on the phone's charging times. In a social media post on the Chinese website Weibo, Ice says that the Galaxy S26 Ultra 's 5,000mAh battery can charge up to 75% or even 80% within 30 minutes. A follow-up post of theirs indicates that these are Samsung's official numbers. And according to Ice, the tech giant is being conservative with those. On top of that, the tipster claims that in reality, the Galaxy S26 Ultra may be able to charge all the way up to 90% within just 30 minutes. A very welcome improvement. In our tests, the Galaxy S25 Ultra charged up to 68% in 30 minutes, while phones like the Xiaomi 14T Pro can reach a full charge within 25 minutes or so. You can judge for yourself the difference between 70-ish percent and 80 or even 90% for just half an hour of charging. If true, that would be a great improvement for Ultra fans. At the moment, the 0-100% charging times of the Galaxy S26 Ultra have not leaked. But it's quite possible that these charging times may be around 45 minutes. I personally think that in this day and age, when we have phones that can be fully charged from the bottom up in around 20 minutes, any improvement in this department is totally welcome. And I surely hope these rumors are true.

This may come as a surprise to a lot of so-called "power users" out there, but I believe that one of the best tablets you can buy right now is an "outdated" 11-inch iPad Air from last year. 128GB Storage, Wi-Fi 6E + 5G Cellular, Apple M2 Processor, Liquid Retina IPS LCD Screen with 2360 x 1640 Pixel Resolution, 12MP Rear-Facing Camera, 12MP Front-Facing Camera, Top-Mounted Fingerprint Scanner, All-Day Battery Life, Landscape Stereo Speakers, Two Microphones, USB Type-C Port, Starlight Color Buy at Amazon Certainly not at the time of this writing, when the perfectly competent iPad Air 11 with Apple M2 processing power can be had for a whopping $250 less than usual with standalone cellular connectivity. I'm not just talking any old cellular technology standard, mind you, but those newfangled 5G speeds... you're obviously free to achieve on whatever US carrier you want. With 128 gigs of internal storage space, this 11-inch iPad Air (2024) variant normally costs $749, incredibly becoming more affordable than an entry-level Wi-Fi-only configuration after that huge aforementioned $250 markdown. I'll be honest with you, I'm not what you'd call a hardcore Apple fan, and I've actually never owned an iPad in my life. But I'm seriously questioning my Android tablet allegiance upon seeing this phenomenal new Amazon deal. I mean, what's not to love here? The Liquid Retina display is absolutely stunning (despite lacking 120Hz refresh rate technology), the battery life is objectively great, the speakers likewise, and the long-term software support... pretty much unrivaled. Apple's only problem is that the latest (and greatest) iPad Air (2024) discount makes the 2025 generation even less relevant and compelling than before, at least for a limited time. Oh, and by the way, you'll have to opt for an unquestionably eye-catching "Starlight" colorway if you want to take advantage of the unprecedented opportunity to save 250 bucks on my (and, hopefully, yours too) favorite iPad model.
