EastEnders star confirms exit from soap as she takes on ‘strange' new role

The Sun2 days ago

EASTENDERS actor Michelle Collins has confirmed she's leaving the BBC soap later this year.
However, fans will be pleased to know the 63-year-old will only be gone for a month as she takes on a "strange" new role.
2
Her character Cindy Beale - who took on a prominent role in the show's 40th anniversary episodes - will exit Walford in the coming weeks.
Michelle told the Mirror at the British Soap Awards 2025: "Well I'm going off in the summer.
"I'm doing my one woman show at the Edinburgh festival, called Motorhome Marilyn.
"I don't think she's anything like Cindy. It's a play about a woman impersonator lookalike who lives in a trailer and dresses as Marilyn Monroe. But she's 60, it's kind of strange.
"It's about failure, lost dreams, and feeling like life has passed you by. She's an interesting character. I'm really excited to play it. EastEnders have let me have a month off so I'm very excited."
Michelle has kept tight-lipped about how EastEnders writers will tell Cindy's exit storyline.
Instead, she insisted Cindy is focusing on her business and won't be getting involved in a new love interest anytime soon.
However, Michelle told fans there's "fun stuff" coming up with Elaine and Cindy with George.
The actress looked incredible at the soap awards this week, which she attended with co-star Adam Woodyatt.
Michelle put on a classy display in a classic black gown and teamed it up with a leather handbag.
EastEnders' Michelle Collins admits she was in the dark about Angie Watts' shock return & confirms why Cindy ISN'T in live episode
The soap star joined EastEnders as Cindy Beale in 1988 for a two-year stint.
She returned in 1992 for six years before taking a longer break.
Michelle then made an expected return in 2023 after being on Coronation Street.

He uploaded a series of individual images against the backing track to Amerie's song of the same name. Further snaps included ones showing him lying on the grass with a dog and playing football. LEGAL ACTION The new video comes as Freddy's TV presenter dad Jeff Brazier, 46, recently launched legal action to block Jackiey, 68, from seeing him. However, Freddy seemingly spent a week at his gran's home despite the legal row. The Big Brother legend passed away at the age of 27 with the two boys then raised by their dad. Jackiey and Jeff have clashed several times over the years before The Sun on Sunday revealed that the former Dancing on Ice contestant had taken legal action following concerns for his son's wellbeing. Inside Bobby Brazier's burgeoning TV career Bobby Brazier has risen through the ranks to become a well known face on British TV. As the son of Jade Goody and Jeff Brazier, he has been well-known amongst the public from a young age. The star made his catwalk debut in 2020 at Milan Fashion Week, but it wasn't long before he had his eyes on a TV career. He shot to prominence in 2022 when he was cast as Freddie Slater in EastEnders. The incredibly acting skills displayed on screen earned him the National Television Award in the 'Rising Star' category. His famous dad was in tears as Bobby accepted the award on stage in front of the likes of Holly Willoughby and Alison Hammond. It wasn't long before BBC bosses wanted him to take part in the 21st series of Strictly Come Dancing. He clearly impressed the viewers with his dancing skills as he made the grand final and was a runner-up. Since then, viewers were delighted when he returned to his role in the long-running BBC One soap. A source told the publication: "Jeff was never going to keep Freddy away from his Nanny for very long – they've always had a strong bond. "Jeff may hate her for all sorts of reasons going back many years, but Freddy loves her very much. "They had a great time together, playing with her dog and catching up at her flat – where he has often stayed over the years. "Whatever Jeff hoped to achieve with his legal efforts, it hasn't worked." This comes after Freddy was spotted 'smoking a joint' with his former reality TV star grandmother near Tower Bridge in full view of tourists. 'Imaginatively designed' Broughty Ferry home with beautiful sunroom returns to market

An 'imaginatively designed' Broughty Ferry home with a beautiful sunroom has returned to the market. Dating from the 1970s, the Dundarroch Gardens home boasts beautifully landscaped gardens and an impressive outdoor summer house. Spread across four levels, the house was 'imaginatively designed by a local architect', according to agents Savills. The four-bed home was previously on the market for £500,000 in 2023. The standout feature of the home is the spacious sun room with exposed brickwork and a glass roof, which opens into the kitchen. A separate living room and sitting room are found on the split-level lower ground floor in addition to the master bedroom, which has an en-suite. The second bedroom, study, dining hall, utility room and toilet complete the ground floor. Two more bedrooms are found on the first floor. Several of the rooms are clad with wood panelling. Outside, the landscaped gardens feature an impressive summer house with its own dining kitchen and open fire. There is also a paved outdoor seating area, providing the perfect outdoor space for entertaining. The home also has a wooden garden shed and a private driveway, which leads to the double garage and covered carport. The home – which is just off Monifieth Road – is on the market with Savills for offers over £595,000. It comes as Broughty Ferry's Tree House missed out on being crowned Scotland's Home of the Year on Monday night. The Courier has taken a look at the best properties across Tayside and Fife from the BBC show.
